anyone ever done circuit training classes at the gym? just back from one now - fucking savaged. you've basically got about 20 odd weight/cardio stations, which you're supposed to spend 45 seconds on each - i got through curls, flys, bench press, shoulder press, squats, deadlifts, dips, lunges, decline press ups, shuttle runs, skipping, crunches, standing twist with medicine ball, and side crunches - mixed up with a series of instructor-led group plyometric excercises like planks, box jumps, burpees, squat thrusts etc. i'm absolutely goosed. just devoured a supersize quinoa and egg salad with chili, mango and lime dressing. could do another one back to back i reckon.

How do you feel about St James' now compared to in the past
Dr Gloom replied to ajax_andy's topic in Newcastle Forum
thing is though, the atmosphere in the 90s after we went all seater was still mint, definitely a lot better than it is today, or at least consistently better - we can still make a lot of noise today but it's sporadic. a lot of that might be down to the football that was played at the time. it's easier to back a side playing champagne football. but there's definitely been a shift since we went from 36k to 52k capacity. -

the atmosphere definitely isn't what it was since before the extension went up. even after the the terraces cames down, the atmosphere in the 36k all seater was consistently better than it is today. i love sjp and the atmosphere still can be amazing but the crowd are more reactive these days rather than proactive. often it takes the visit of a big club, or the mackems to get the crowd lively from the start - or a dodgy referee decision or just an amazing display to get us going. so, still can be good but it seems the greater number of fans in the ground has altered the manner the team is backed. it's not just down to the new wave of supporters - it isn't easy for those that want to stand and sing to get things going when they're surrounded by others that would rather sit in silence. -
Using the information offered in this thread will help you break the unhealthy habits just as much a trip to slimming world will, probably more. The only difference is on here it's free. It sounds like you lack the willpower to do this off your own back, despite the best intentions. Have you considered a personal trainer? Or going to excercise classes? Having a regularity helps it become a habit then part of your weekly ritual.

Recommend me a good restaurant in Newcastle
Dr Gloom replied to Anorthernsoul's topic in General Chat
Blackfriars best one in Newcastle, I wouldn't gan nee where in Stowell Street been to nearly everyone - aal pish. Blackfriars really is the daddy, beautiful food - canny portions, and it's not that expensive. i used to like the dragon house back in the day. that was always my favourite on the street. they used to do lush hot and sour soup and singapore noodles. the new rendezvous in darras hall is the best chinese i've been to in the area, though exactly in the heart of the city. for other restaurants, i'd recommend cafe 21 and the jesmond deane house hotel as decent places to take the mrs. all the above are probably obvious shouts to most people in the area. there are probably loads of better newer places that exiled geordies like me don't know about. francesca's in jesmond used to be my favourite pizzeria. -
Howay man, the only way to lose weight is to do what's been suggested on here by loads of people. Eat healthy and HIIT. Easy as that. Like you admit earlier, these fad diets are fads because they don't work consistently. The only diet that works is to burn off the fuel you take in. I couldnt agree more but they are a way in to a healthier eating routine. That combined with exercise should show significant improvement in health which then inspires you to continue and a healthy diet and keep up an exercise routine. There is a big difference between overweight 40 somethings trying change habits compared to a lot of twenty and thrity somethings who have grown up in a gym age. Its a bit like packing in the fags. You usually have many attempts and then at some point everything falls into place and you eventually quit. This is my version of that. Im hoping that eventually the habit / routine will stick. The bottom line for the record is not healthy eating or exercise, it is will power. Ask any smoker. the bottom line in reality CT is you're the only one that can rebuild you. if you really want it, you'll do it. it's hard work and a change in lifestyle that isn't easy. throwing money at slimming world or weight watchers is not a dream ticket to a better looking and healthier body. that said, a gym membership and consultation with a nutritionist are good moves. not sure that won't be a waste of money either like given how often people on here have already given you all the advice professionals at the gym will give you for free.

I'd stay around Santa Monica or Venice. Plenty of cool bars, resturants, shops etc - hang out on 3rd street promenade, venice beach and Main street. Avoid the tourist tat on Hollywood blvd. Go for a drive up Mullholland. A walk around Griffith park for a good view of the Hollywood sign. A drive up the PCH is a must but you need more than three days for that.

that sounds interesting. kind of like a pimped up white russian. was that your own creation?
