  1. Agreed. He was awful when he had the run in the team after Christmas. We've had to be patient but I don't think I ever doubted the talent was there, just the temprament wasn't. Seems to have clicked with him and we're feeling the benefit. absolutely. we all wanted ben arfa to start because we were all aware of what he was capable of. but he wasn't doing it on the pitch so pardew was right to drop him. he was giving the ball away far too cheaply, not doing enough work off the ball. now he busts a gut for the team and seems to know when to pass and when to dribble. he also seems far better off playing the more advanced role in a 433 than he did wide right in the 442. it was galling seeing him on the bench while the likes of obertan and ryan taylor started ahead oh him but i reckon pardew has played it to perfection tbh. he used the media to criticise the player to let him know when he wasn't doing it on the pitch and showering him with compliments when he got it right. he's got a supremely talented but potentially temperamental frenchie playing out of his skin in for him. kudos to rapey
  2. CT, you're definitely in the minority regarding your views about jonas. Most of us love him - he's been one of our best players this season and is new vice captain on merit. I'd have him in the middle of midfield ahead of Guthrie too, but only just.
  3. We're hardly man u though are we? This our first good season in about a decade.
  4. he's been belter this season and should arguably have started more games given his form. at this stage of his career he might not want to be third choice.
  5. We've got all the momentum plus the least pressure on us compared to those around us. And we're winning games when we don't play that well. I was watching the chat on here earlier during the game almost expecting us to score even though it sounded like we were playing crap. Can't remember the last time I had this confidence in the team.
  6. Bollocks man, we're supporters. Got to dream and hope. The players arent reading this forum going, "oooh the fans aren't being fair" ffs. I don't expect us to finish 4th - no one does. But we're in with a shout with 5 games left. That doesn't happen often for us. It's hard not to get excited.
  7. This is the season that keeps giving. Unbelievable! Long may the pundits continue to write us off. Takes the pressure off innit. When was the last time we won 5 on the spin in the top flight btw ?
  8. To be fair, there is the Ba problem now. (don't start, Gemmill) I reckon he's more than likely to be off in the summer anyway tbh. Just gotta crack on and get someone in. I'd be gutted me self if we sold ba like. He's just having a sticky patch.
  9. Fucking hell man we won't get a better chance than this to close the gap
  10. See. This is what happens when we let CT start a match thread
  11. Exactly the sort of game we mess up - the dreaded home banker!
  12. ryan taylor, over the wall. a player that no one rated kick starting our season with a couple of wonder strikes, getting his own song in his honour and setting the tone for the early stage unbeaten run. shola, the mackem destroyer, striking again. dispatching man u and liverpool with ease at home.
  13. not a big fan of her music but she's got a good voice and her tunes are catchy enough. there's far worse mainstream pap out there
  14. air pistols, pinball machines.... it's all go innit
  15. i thought it was canny crap compared to the book, but then that's not unusual
  16. I agree with Ron Manager, here. We need no more injuries if we can help it and let the lads just keep plugging away in every game. You can lose or draw a game just as easy against a Bolton or Stoke as you can win one. Lets just back the players and see where we get. Win our games and Europe takes care of itself, and for once, the pressure might just get to other three London sides around us, certainly if we keep winning it will. As for worrying about points lost, nobody was worrying about nicking three points away at Wolves or winning tight games against Everton and the Mackems at the Stade de Shite. The players seem to be just getting on with it, there's nowhere near the tension we've had in the past when we've been chasing a title or Europe. the fact that no one deep down really expects us to finish top 4 should play into the players' hands. there's no big pressure on the becaus we've already overachieved. loads more pressure on the london clubs because they're all expected to finish top 4. the chelsea game could be massive!
  17. deano looking like a soothsayer now like. i'm not sure even he expected us to be chasing the top 4 though did he?
  18. Went with warriror. Meh. 5/10 And watch it gemmill. Tin tin has got about 80% on rotten tomatoes. Supposed to be like raiders of the list arc
