  1. ps: i do rememeber seeing zoggy playing well iwhen he had a run of games in the centre of midfield. i'm not backing down from that - i just can't remember which season it was. there's no pretence on my part. but you do rate alan smith therefore nothing you say can be taken serioulsy
  2. He's not. eh? how's he playing for the under 21s then? Strange Dan, as you normally seem so well informed. two words: alan smith Is that all you've got? it's my default argument for you. never fails I can link you to a thread where it did if you like. The one where you were pretending you'd seen N'Zogbia playing well on the left of a midfield 3 towards the end of a season that never happened. Clueless. whatever. you rate alan smith therefore you fail

  5. what a strange rule. call me a bluff old traditionalist but i'd expect those players that represent their country at under 21 level, to be under 21...

  7. hard to believe the lad is still under 21 like.
  8. tevez to the toon has got to be up there with leighton baines due to sign by friday. not in a million years stevie lad
  9. we've already released him haven't we?
  10. i don't care what we pay him. he's our best striker by a mile so get him signed
  11. mccarthy would be a good buy for them like
  12. He grafts as well though. Great to have an attacking winger but if he's a passenger when you lose possession it puts pressure on your full-back. Not with this fella though. It was great to see him track back at every opportunity, but his attacking qualities will turn out to be more important. We've had plenty of grafters over the last few years, it's pace and creativity that we've been missing. Calmly ran back a couple of times and just took the ball off their players (Rooney didn't look happy). aye. that was class.
  13. oh yeh. the eyesight must be gannin in me old age
  14. aye. he's still a bit young - might be worth tapping up on a youth contract though
  15. what's wrong with that? given, jonas and half the chelsea team? sounds about right to me. ....but crooks is the worst example of positive discrimination ever - he's the master of the non-question. "so michael, you scored the winning goal in the 60th minute...." you have to laugh at his boat race too
  16. Hea hea! Yesterday was my 1st away game and i was amazed at how many fans were somewhat negative before the match, me as always was optimistic of a good performance from the boys and hopeful of a good result! And my faith paid off! Yesterday we showed real promising signs that we are a team, a unit, we are united, in the words of ince at weekend, we showed comradery and spirit and looked very solid at the back (apart from LB) and very slick going forward. We passed the ball well, tracked back and harried well, and on the whole we held our own with the best team in england! If we can take that sort of performance, add a few necessary signings we can all be hopefull of a rather pleasing season indeed. Well done lads... "Ee-Aye Ee-Aye Ee-Aye Oh, Up the premier league we go, when we get to europe, this is what we'll sing, we are geordies, super geaordies...KEEGAN IS OUR KING!" ah, the wonder of youth lol my youths fading quickly with every pint haha How old do you think i am like...im no bairn bud! old man leazesmag makes us all look like whippersnappers tbh
  17. kiss spidey all week! :icon_lol: :jonas: :jonas: :jonas: :jonas: :jonas:
  18. is also never going to happen
  19. got to love keegan. he would indeed be nice for starters. if we can somehow chalk up saviola, ashton, tiago and warnock, we're looking at a pretty decent squad all of a sudden.
  20. Trying to rein it in because I don't want to get too carried away but aye, I am too. Me as well but the signs are promising, especially if we bring some more players in. agree. i'm excited by the new players but feel we still need to add more players of a smilar quality. like someone else said above, a few injuries and we could struggle. fair play to keegan though for only buying what look on first impressions like quality players instead of panic buying the usual sort of player we attract just to make up the numbers.
  21. the new signings all impressed yesterday but i still think we're a good few players short of being able to compete at the business end of the table. encouraging stuff though - nice to see the keegler with a spring in his step too
  22. Jonas deserves all his plaudits today, but I thought Guthrie was class, didn't put a foot wrong. aye. credit to keegan for throwing them all in at the deep end. the signing of guthrie didn't get me that excited at first but he looked neat and tidy today. hopefully more of the same to come from the young lad
  23. great result and performance. new signings all looked good, especially spiderman.
  24. at least we're getting the trips to old trafford and the emirates out of the way early doors, when we traditionally do poorly. i'd rather get these two defeats out of the way early on while we're struggling to get out of the traps then start our charge up the table in september. there's your straws....clutching at them.
