  1. if our current situation continues i'd say there's a big chance of relegation. we're a rudderless ship at the moment. until ashley sells up, no one is going to fancy taking over. we can only hope for a quick sale, a new manager to take over asap and some big investment in january. otherwise it's going to be a long miserable season and potentially a disastrous one.
  2. there is no new news in this statement. no need for the exclamation marks
  3. i'm going to put my money on no one or a last minute panic buy a'la sibierski. we can't have that many options with three days to go until the window shuts.
  4. It's ok, we've still got Shola as cover. thank christ. i'll sleep easy tonight Well, last summer you were saying you were happy with him being 3rd or 4th choice striker. Glad you've wised-up though. i was but he's hardly played or scored a goal since then so i wouldn't lose any sleep if he were replaced. at the time i was saying that he was as good a 4th choice striker as alan smith, so why splash out that much on smudger? people here were saying smith was a good buy - you included. i knew from day dot that he was no better than shola. shola's still no worse than alan smith mind. i'd get rid of both of them if we could. shola's had enough chances now for me and smith was obvioulsy never good enough Tbf, I said Smith was good cover and expensive but better than we had as cover, i.e. Shola. Which is why I brought it up. You actually said you'd be happy with him as 3rd or 4th striker btw. i have always been as happy with shola as smith as a 3-4th choice striker because that's what they are - back up players at best. that's why i could never understand the point in signing smith, as we already had a pool of strikers and he wasn't better than any of them, plus we paid £6m and a massive weekly wage on him. madness. i'd get rid of both now if we could guarantee that we would replace them with better players. smith's always been poor and shola's had enough chances for me now and hasn't done himself any favours by lack of appearances and performances when he has been fit in the last 18 months or so.

  6. one or two signings and there will be dancing in the streets.

  8. Our effective squad (ignoring current injuries) stands at around 20. Not great. depressing, despite doing well in our last 3 games aye. a few injuries and it isn't looking too clever is it
  9. it's still a decrnt profit on a player that never really fulfilled his potential. he still could like, but i don't think he'll ever do it as a wide player. he must be replaced though - that's essential. i think we needed three players. now we need four if milner goes.
  10. i think leeds are getting a fir bit via a sell on clause hence the inflated priice. i don't want him to go unless we've got someone better coming in to replace him. we're already thin for wide players.
  11. shame about swp like. would have been ideal
  12. dreams: in: swp, saviola, arshavin, ashton & warnock out: smith, ameobi & barton nightmares: in: no one out: milner to villa & owen to see his contract out
  13. i'd be happy to sell milner if we replace him with wright philllips, a far better player imo
  14. he looks good so far. very composed in posession and useful at staying on his feet and knicking the ball off people. not sure if he's the best in the air but signs so far are good
  15. ps. fair play to the toon ultras. they made loads of noise throughout the match although i have no idea if it spread to the rest of the ground. and the bizzies were fucking shocking. they obviously didn't have enough to do - ended up chicking out some lads for standing up. and the quees for the bars in the l7 concorse were shocking - are they always that bad up there was my first time sat in the gods...
  16. was it bollocks. we strolled into the leazes end level 7 at 2.30pm. loads of empty seats everywhere. dire first half. eerything seemed to click after the penalty save though
  17. whats the chances of getting tickets on the door half a our before kick off?
  18. not exactly a left back, centre mid or striker is he?
  19. i thought he looked canny at chelsea. industrious with a good touch. not sure he's the creative playmaker everyone's been hankering for but he's got to be a better option in the cm spot than the likes of geremi, barton and smith
  20. i honestly thought it was too long, as is the case in many modern films. there was no need for that film to drag on for almost 3 hours. i was really enjoying it, but like lots of films i've seen recently, i think it would have benefited from being half an hour shorter - the editors should have done their job and took their heads out of their arses. the last hour just plodded along
  21. a couple in before the weekend would be lovely but i imagine it's a bit late doors for that now. still, i fancy a result on saturday if the lads put in a similar shift as against the dirty mancs. i'm hoping to see a goal and celebration from spidey
  22. i'm not admitting that i'm making stuff up because i'm not. i'm sure i remember zoggy playing well for us for a few games in centre mid a few seasons back. of course i might be wrong, my memory isn't the best. but i'm not deliberately making things up - what would i gain by doing that? alex, you're a funny bloke but i find you a little strange. you seem to take a perverse pleasure in striking up petty arguments. plus you rated alan smith so i win I think you were trying to show you had some knowledge rather than just posting with a rain cloud over your head moaning about x,y or z. You failed though because the run of games never took place. No one's memory is as bad as that man unless they've got a genuine problem in that area. Which tbf, you can't have or you wouldn't be able to remember posts I made about Smith. Nice try though with the 'my memory isn't the best' thing. I asked you to name one little detail about the said games man, not a detailed analysis on every performance. how do you equate me saying i thought zoggy looked good in the middle to moaning or posting with a rain cloud over my head? like i said, i can't remember exactly when this run of games was or the exact detail (please forgive me) - though i do seem to remember it being either the tailend of a season either under roeder or souness when we rallied at the end of the year, had a few inuries and played a new system with three in the middle - zoggy being one of them and iirc emre and one other alongside him with duff and milner out wide. if you don't want to believe me, fair dos. just seems a strange thing to try and pick a fight with me over on a totally unrelated thread. and hey look, i might be wrong. maybe we can put this to the rest of the board to see if anyone else can remember it or if it's a total mistake on my part. maybe it was one game... i remember (perhaps wrongly) it was a little run of games. but even if i am wrong, i'm not trying to make things up. i find the fact that you think otherwise a little troubling. and nice try on seeing how many times you can include nice try in one of your posts. i might try that myself more often. I brought it up because you brought Smith up. Unrelated to the thread. You brought that up because I had a dig to be fair. I've posted that team up to show how you get things wrong as well. that is a woeful selection tbf, i'm not denying that. although speaks volumes for the players in our squad...especially the fact that barton probably plays when everyone is fit
