  1. Aaaargh, you just ruined my next post!
  2. Just had an amazing 3-course Indian lunch courtesy of my friend's son who is at catering college. As part of their assessment they have to cook and their family and friends are invited to the 'restaurant' to be served lunch. Currently stuffed and the bairn is having a post-lunch nap!
  3. Oh aye, you joke about it now! You're right about it sometimes being a one-off. It can sometimes be caused by a virus and might never happen again. Fingers crossed that if there IS a problem that they pick it up and it's easily treated. You can do without wondering if and when it may happen again.
  4. As you're aiming for 100bpm it would do nicely
  5. The timing is a bit off. It'd leave someone with an arrhythmia
  6. Call for help before you do anything else - phone an ambulance or get someone else to do it & make sure there's a door open so they can get in. Check ABC - Airway (whether they're choking on something) Breathing and Circulation (if they have a pulse) If they're breathing then put them in the recovery position, basically on their side with their chin up to keep the airway open and reassure them. If they're fitting don't try to restrain them, just make sure they're not going to hurt themselves on anything around them. If they're not breathing/have no pulse then start CPR. Think of the Vinnie Jones advert - the new Resus Council guidelines state that maintaining circulation is more important than rescue breaths so "Press (hard) on the sovereign to the tune of Staying Alive" and keep doing it til the ambulance comes.
  7. Bloody hell, hope she makes a full and swift recovery. Well done for keeping your cool and acting quickly. Let us know how she gets on.
  8. Aye, but their "100 hr weeks" are due to the way their shift patterns fall over 2 weeks and not a regular thing like it used to be. When I worked 7 nights on/7 nights off I used to do an "84hr week" except it was actually 2 weeks hrs just done on a Thurs, Fri & Sat of one week and a Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed of the other. Regardless, as you said, your 16-hr days probably consist of sitting eating doughnuts for 12 at least
  9. Doctors working hours are regulated now and average about a 10hr day.
  10. I dread to even think what goes on in your head
  11. I was amazed tbh. It went through a boil wash and super spin
  12. Haven't seen Dexter so someone else will have to answer that!
  13. Primarily a drama with lots of dark humour in it.
  14. Lucky for you that I dried it on the radiator and it still works!
  15. And Kieran Dyer got the other one.
  16. It would appear that in gathering up all the bedding from my bed to wash it, I'm also inadvertently washing the remote control for my bedroom tv. Wondered what the clunking noise was.....

That sounds gorgeous. I had boring smoked fish with green beans and cauli. (And a little bit of salad cream)
  22. I'm chancing my first glass of wine since last Saturday night. So far so good...
  23. It's far easier to just ride it out and not have any sleep at all. It sends you a bit mad but there's no way I could wake myself up properly after just an hour.
