  1. If that tweet about Pedro is accurate, as in Watford had agreed a price and then tried to play silly beggars, upped the price and tried to engineer a bidding war, then we were 100% right to back away. I still think it's very likely we'll sign him before the window closes, but it depends on how set Pedro is on joining us. Signing Isak, knock on wood, has also strengthened our negotiating hand given we're no longer as desperate to sign a forward.
  2. Poor window this, can't even get Pedro over the line
  3. If we can get someone like Gallagher on loan I'm not too bothered about Paqueta this window, on the proviso that he doesn't sign for the bubble blowing dildo impresarios. I have to admit it would grate seeing him pinging the ball about for the happiest man in Scotland David Moyes. If Lyon price him out of a move this window we may still be able to get him in January or next summer.
  4. Serious question, but has he recently recovered from polio?
  5. Scout report: Alexander Isak at Newcastle 2022/23 (totalfootballanalysis.com) One for the Xg boyz. I fell asleep half way through, then again I'm pretty sure I have ADD.
  6. Was just about to post that about Maddison. Could conceivably be exactly what Rogers is saying it is, players do get injuries after all, but it obviously could be crucial for us. Then again not to drop one in the punchbowl, but both Arsenal and Chelsea are looking for some extra bodies in midfield.
  7. Our current second string could probably just about win the Championship, or at least get to the play offs, but we need our second string to eventually be capable of finishing in the top ten of the PL.
  8. Banter about Isak's wiry frame aside, I think we'll truly see the best out of him if and when he fills out a little in a year or two. Need to get him on the Ronaldo diet and exercise regime. Not fat Ronaldo's obviously.
  9. I'm not sure I buy the Wilson injury suddenly pushing us to bid for Isak narrative. Hope was tweeting this morning trying to justify his tweet a week or so ago, about thinking it would be a good thing for Wilson to get a minor injury to put a fire up the ownership. For a start it's not as if Wilson's injury prone nature comes as a surprise to Howe and co, and secondly it's quite clear we've been after Isak for a very long time. Sociedad and Isak have both supposedly lowered their demands, so that's likely the biggest driver of the deal getting done now. People were also saying we're not bothering to haggle, but we've effectively been haggling for him all summer at least.
  10. As wykikitoon already mentioned this Dubravka move makes zero sense from Dubravka's perspective if he's leaving because he doesn't want to be no. 2. If Dubravka was better with his feet, given De Gea is pretty shocking for a supposedly elite keeper, I could perhaps see the logic given he might get a bit of game time, but that isn't the case.
  11. Has to be somewhat of a positive that he's come out to watch the match though. If his knee was really fucked he'd be laid up somewhere with painkillers etc.
  12. The ref is either a diehard Tranmere fan or on the take. Or perhaps he's the step nephew of Jamal Khashoggi. Former Sunderland player coming on, I'm sure he'll fit right in with his shithouse teammates.
  13. Studs up he should be off. You could see on his face that he was relieved to get a yellow.
  14. The Tranmere striker should be off. That was almost certainly a deliberate elbow on Lascelles.
  15. Pope (Dubs) Trippier Botman Burn Targett (Krafth) (Schar) (Dummett) (Lewis) Bruno (Ciggy) Gallagher Joelinton (Willock) (Anderson) Pedro ASM (Miggy) (Murphy) Wilson (Isak) Obviously speculative, but based on who we're being strongly linked with. Apart from Murphy, and maybe Lewis depending on how he comes back from his injury, that's a very strong starting 11 and back up.
  16. I don't think it necessarily means he doesn't fancy him, it could be a number of things. Chiefly among those things would be the striking position being top of the list of priorities. If Lyon actually still want over 50m then maybe that is too rich for us in one window having had a 60m bid accepted.
  17. The ideal scenario would be getting Gallagher on loan, Paqueta staying put, and then us going back in and getting him for a decent price in a future window. Isak, Pedro and Gallagher would be a ludicrous end to the window.
