  1. Who the fuck wants that many sets of in-laws more like. Speaking of in-laws, my father in-law is absolutely convinced they exist, the one family members house on that side I think most of that lot are convinced is haunted. I'd venture most ghost sightings can probably be chalked off as some kind of halucinations, probably hypnagogia or something similar and that for whatever reason certain houses or environments make people more likely to slip into states where that can happen than others. Fuck knows though. Only thing resembling a ghost story I have is from back when I was about 6 and we'd just moved house. One of the first nights my dad's stereo randomly turned itself on in the middle of night when everyone was asleep. Parents checked on us to make sure we were okay and didnt get a fright. Faulty stereo or something would surely explain it, but no my little sister who would only be three or 4 at the time sits up in bed and says "it's okay, the old lady said it wont happen again, she's gone now." Wee weirdo that she was.
  2. Contentious, but you're not far wrong. That year was a big turning point in the metal scene. Max Cavalera has a lot to answer for.
  3. I'm often reminded I'm also not a metal fan by any stretch whenever I talk to other self-professed metalheads. "Modern" metal peaked here and died long before Des left the band of you ask me. It can probably be resuscitated but it will take an army of drummers like Des Kensel.
  4. I get that reaction a lot to be honest. While we're talking about Scottish bands and I've already been called out for lowering the tone I might as well go all in the Gallus album this year deserved a lot more attention than it seemed to get.
  5. I'm three sheets to the wind right now but based on tonight and last night's matches I'd say your lot are far more defensively sound. Haven't even looked at the fixture list but I'd wager the scales will tip. It's not even December yet.
  6. Much as I love to watch them struggle I can't help but think most of their on-field issues are compounded by the obvious meek manager and shite captain combo. Seems to be a recurring theme in their downfall.
  7. I commited a job interview faux-pas a good few years ago that still keeps me awake at night now and again. Asked about my "proudest achievements" I replied words to the effect of "I've always felt pride is an incredibly selfish emotion and don't like to focus on past achievements" before looking up and realising the entire office was draped in rainbow flags and thinking "ah shit, that screamed homophobe/religious bigot". Dunno where those words came from. Maybe I'd watched Se7en the night before.
  8. On McCoist, aye. Loves the game and least thinks before he speaks to try and see beyond his inherent biases. On the Ref, disagree. Maybe something went down earlier but from what I caught late on he dealt with the PSG shithousery pretty well right up until someone from the VAR team had a word in his ear for the late penalty. I don't think for a second that was his decision to award it. Cunt shat it, but was under extreme pressure imho.
  9. Only caught the tail end but Trippier and Almiron looked absolutely next level. Always felt Almiron had more gears in him, get the frustration that he doesn't always find them. That penalty call was a fucking sham. Ref definitely bottled it.
  10. Couldn't find a fucking stream for the life of me. Eventually gave you and chucked on Barca/Porto which looks to have a been a thoroughly entertaining game and really open but It's just passively on in the background while I plan out insulating and venting the shed and buy more fur lined flannel shirts.
  11. @sammynb was it yourself that saw Carcass back in the late 80's? Fwiw the death metal scene up here is on fire right now if you still have time for any of that. Penny Coffin, Brainbath, Rancid Cadaver, Coffin Mulch all worth checking out. Far cry from shoegaze or dreampop right enough but the whole scene is really thriving right now which is surprising given that it's all a bit of a throwback to late 80's scene when Carcass were coming through.
  12. I'm familiar with Swim School, some of their stuff is straight from the My Bloody Valentine playbook but songs like Delirious are more in keeping with a lot of what's been going on in the scene with bands like Spyres and Dead Pony. Mrs B claims I've heard most of them (except Sunstinger and Transmission Suite) via her playlists in the car but I can't place any of them.
  13. Say what you want about the original Point Break but nobody missed the start and sat down to it half an hour in and said "i'm worried for Bodhi and Tyler, this Johnny Utah is clearly either undercover Polis or a right jobsworth from the council."
  14. I'm not consciously aware of having met anyone from here in person but still live with enough latent paranoia from my Cheech Marin levels of "partaking" to know not to deal in absolutes. @Renton and @Gemmillare pretty common surnames up here so I'm taking no chances. Dave's not here man.
  15. Ive not been here long enough to make much of an educated guess on any of you, but have a decent guage of most folks ages so it's a safe bets there's at least two or three of you that think you look like Matt Berry but are probably more Blackadder II era Baldrick. Can't place exactly who but you probably know who you are. I just briefly pondered if @Gemmill might fit this profile but on reflection I reckon he's clean shaven as keeps his hair above the collar line. Kempt in an old-fashioned sense, to the extent that if our paths crossed in the wild I might get undercover Polis vibes and give him a wide berth.
  16. 🤣 Fair fucks, I'll take that. I'd argue I'm blessed with a far better hairline and all round better complexion, but then I don't put in anywhere near as much of an effort with with my attire or general appearance as Bomba here so I suppose it balances out.
  17. I know fuck all about them but I'd wager he's actually quite a sensitive and fairly decent soul outwith his public persona. Folk like him are why I never entertained or pursued the idea of getting into live sound or even being a roadie as a career option. Fuck that noise. I'll watch the drama from afar and might even buy a ticket, but bollocks to having to work with these folk for your main income.
  18. Probably nothing. That's just what happens when musicians* don't speak to or socialise with anyone other than other than other musicians or techies for any length of time. *Frontmen and guitar players are the absolute worst for it on the surface. Bassists and drummers less obviously so, they'll quietly dictate things from the shadows. It's all just infantile posturing to prop up ego's. Music industry 101.
  19. Pretty sure yer local South Shield's lads from The Wildhearts told TOTP's the lyrics to Caffeine Bomb were "baby can't you see I'm in deep water" when it was actually "I'm shitting brown water". They were invited back on at least twice. I see no harm in this unless you look at any of these folks long term career trajectory. As an aside your need to get MF jr onto the (early-mid 90's) Wildhearts if you haven't already. Even Paul Gilbert is a fan. Theres some really bizarre footage of Paul and Ginger playing as a dodgy half-baked acoustic duo in Japan back in the mid late 90's floating about on YouTube.
  20. I'm sure Paul Gilbert didnthis with an AC boost last in his chain (but all analog). That might work with the Rangemaster @Tom but it could squeal like a pig and oscillate. In my experience most effects loops don't like 32dB of boost thrown in there, but I've only ever tested with amps, the Helix could be a different kettle of fish. Come to think of it the Kilt might do similar if you crank the output dial, but not sure exactly how much it can amplify the signal.
  21. Out of curiosity @Tom, have you compared the Range master with the Helix "Derangedmaster" patch? I'm curious how similar they'd be. You might get away with touring one pedal lighter. If you're using it in full range boost mode then then a patch something similar to the mxr Micro Amp might get you into the ballpark but the signal wouldn't hit the Kilt quite as hot (~24dB boost Vs the Rangemasters 32dB). Just a thought. Would mean putting the Kilt in the effects loop of the helix though.
  22. In hindsight I probably should've just bought the book and the pry-bay.
  23. In the last 48 hours I've just bought a new garden shed and an Edgar Allan Poe book. I've really fucking missed having a shed and looking forward to freezing my knackers off and getting to read in peace under the guise of working. I've also bought a pry-bar, which was useful for lifting and levelling the paving slabs that the shed will sit on but will be even more handy if I get caught reading my Poe book in my new shed. I can use it to discretely break into someone else's shed and sit and read there instead.
  24. Classic Sopranos bit. "the guy you're chasing, he was with the Interior Ministry. He killed 18 Chechen Rebels singlehandedly". "you're not gonna believe this. Guy was an interior decorator. He killed 18 Czechoslovakians" "His house looked like shit"
