  1. To be fair, that applies to all public art and local improvement projects. You could redistribute all the things that have made Newcastle city centre (we'll let those south of the Tyne call it NewcastleGateshead if it makes them keep on paying for everything) a more modern, accessible and pleasant place over the last couple of decades to Granny's Tinned Ham And Fuel Bill fund and life would undoubtedly be much fairer, but also of a lower quality for everyone fortunate enough not to be in that position in the first place. Swings and roundabouts really... Hey, he said cat food! Don't go forcing that muck on them. You're obsessed!
  2. I always liked tinned bacon grill. Looks like I'm going to hell with you Meenz!
  3. I'm on the 37th floor and slept right through it. Mind my mattress is fucking woefully over-soft, so it probably just absorbed every vibration.
  4. Aye, true. I'm playing 5-a-side at Man Citeh's old indoor training complex at the moment...that new fangled astro stuff....it's a good surface but we're playing on two pitches side by side, so it's as wide as it is long-a complete square in other words. Technique only comes into it when space is at a premium imho....it's absolute gash when you can just ping the ball into acres of space. The TT 5-a-side had some decent technique even if pace was non-existent.
  5. 11-a-side is the mans game. I know plenty of quality of 5-a-side players that are dreadful at 11. I agree fwiw. 5-a-side is more fun overall, but goals in 11-a-side can be things to treasure for years and years.
  6. 5/6/7-a-side is shooting practice tbh. I can barely remember individual goals at the end of a game, let alone offer an in depth analysis.
  7. The superfluous 's' reminds me of Matt Lucas' Gerri Halliwell character talking about her friend 'George Michaels'
  8. Derby are out of it and have been all season. The other two spots have anyone from seven or eight teams name on them yet though iyam and its gonna be less to do with who is where now and all about putting a run together over the last half dozen games. Anyone's capable of that and therefore equally anyone who doesnt is set for the drop.
  9. Couple of years before that I think. It was never going to happen with our board back then anyway. Yeah was gonna say it would have had to have been a few years before that because by '88 they'd already laid Europe to waste in the Championships and made us look even dafter than our new press-stud tops already did.
  10. Thank fuck we never signed Gullit or Van Basten circa '88. Imagine having gone down (or not, it wouldnt really have mattered) and having had to sell them to another English club for a pittance and then watch them proceed to take the p!ss for Liverpool, Tottenham or Man U for the next 10 years...no thanks.
  11. This piece about him on their site....if you were reading that you would think he had a shit career. Without doubt he didn't achieve what he could have, but....he had a better career than 99.9% of footballers could ever dream of having. He was Young Player of The Year at 20, Best Young Player of the World Cup in 1990, took Spurs to the Cup Final single handedly, played a leading role in England's Euro 96 campaign, won a stack full of personal accolades, and trophies in Scotland, the way this is written you would think he ended up at Boston when he was 26 not 36. Shite in all honesty. As for believing his own hype, there's a good youtube clip with him on here... Wor Jackie says, "his skills are absolutely unbelievable, sticks out a mile, and he'll tell ye so as well" Gazza was super confident at 20 and that made him the player he was, as for believing his own hype, what super naturally gifted footballer doesn't??? Whoever wrote that is a wank simple as that. I like the bit near the end where Jackie says "there's no argument he's the best in the world, HONESTLY the best IN THE WORLD." The three or four years where he should have been playing at his absolute peak just never happened. That's the biggest regret. Still he is clearly mentally ill and probably always was, so in the grand scheme of things perhaps it's less a tragedy than it is an achievement that he had any semblance of a career at all.
  12. Well that's my fears allayed. Thank fuck for that then, eh Dave?
  13. Is Wayne Fereday out injured?
  14. Yeah me too...tho I'm more concerned about our chances of actually amassing those 39 points to start with.
  15. What bounder said that to you ????? so true! First time I read that I read it as 'bouncer' too, which is probably even truer.
  16. Thnks Barton7, finally someone with a bit of sense. The sad thing is these boards are ruined by geeky Playstation 3 players, and wrestling fans (sometimes people are both in their mid to late 20s), so it's difficult to maintain any sense of maturity on here. "RACIST RACIST OMG!" To be fair, that's rich as a butcher's turd.
  17. Anyone get a chance, watch this bit. He looks like Gemmill on his third pint.
  18. Joy Divison pinched that off Ballard btw Fucking hell your lass mustn't be able to drive you to the airport fast enough on a Sunday.
  19. He should throw in some serious bi-polar shit, keep everyone happy tbh.
  20. How soft does Woodward look in that trance scene where she's dancing next door btw? Fucking hilarious stuff
  21. Not her arse though apparently. Some Glaswegian prostitute did the body double if Brit's memory can still be trusted.
  22. I don't think I even agree with the basic premise of the article. It's true to say that the situation is unacceptable but I think we'll go on and continue to accept it anyway - if/when we do go down, we'll go down with full houses imho. There's no pressure on the board in that respect. We're so far down the line since we last won anything that the management of the club don't have the ghosts of previous successes breathing a chilled reminder down their necks. There isnt the fear of failure that is absolutely palpable at some other clubs, where a luminously trophied air hangs thick about the place. If we were to win anything it would be seen as a massive bonus-but none of the players who are here, or who have been here for years now for that matter, actually fear ending a season empty handed. Until we can foster those sorts of conditions then we'll always end up potless and possibly worse.
  23. Hard lines Anth. And just ignore RICO, he has no willy.
  24. Are the 'commentary and music by' genuine or is that a photoshop job? The '82 World Cup as told by James Bond, set to Tubular Bells.
