    Wine

A nice South African white for me. Firefinch always hits the spot.
  4. The inboxes of SMO's ex's everywhere are opened with sheer horror: ........well at least it wasn't his cock I s'pose!
  5. Yes and we all know what happened to Leazes in the end don't we......
  6. That one out of Busted. Him with the eyebrows.
  7. Agreed. If Freddy writes a big fat blank cheque for Glenn this summer he will have done everything a chairman could possibly be expected to do. I expect Liverpool are run on much the same lines.
  8. I get Sonny and Cher in my head whenever I hear Shepherd comment these days, ala Groundhog Day where Bill Murray wakes up to it each morning on his alarm radio.
  9. Absolutely praying for a takeover tbh. We have become the Freddy Shepherd show and nothing more.
  10. You off to Sharm? I am undecided where to go. Been invited to Sydney by my mate who lives there and to Paris for a couple of weeks with a lass I met recently to look after her brothers house. Might do both, might do neither lies.

  12. Jimmy Carr n'est-ce pas?
  13. Don't get all precious. It is a proper job, just with incredibly priviliged annual leave entitlement. PS teachers always refer to bringing work home with them (ie marking) as though it's something no other professionals have to do.
  14. Genuinely interesting and thought provoking. At 1.4 million though the reality is that the 'owners' will only be able to acquire a small club, meaning the likelihood is that many of the new participants won't be supporters and hence possibly wouldnt have the long term committment to keep something that wansn't a life long passion afloat. The 1.4 million only gets you onboard after all, it doesnt fund the club in the long term. Still interesting though.
  15. I'm not sure I totally agree tbf. All England managers over the past 20-odd years have been singled out for special treatment by the national press with the exception of southern media goldenballs El Tel. And Robson and Taylor had it far worse. No, the press banged on about his nationality, but the reality is if they hadnt had that to do to death, they'd simply have alighted on some other aspect of his management/private life/resemblance to a root vegetable. I know England managers get grief from the press, but Eriksson got grief from the day he was appointed for being foreign, and some idiots never shut up about it - notable examples include Ian Wright. This ultimately resulted in the requirement that his successor be English, and that is now we are lumbered with McClaren. Anyway, my point was more that he's deluded for thinking people like him in this country when he was criticised simply because of where he was from, rather than comparing the overall amount of stick he recieved in comparison to other managers. Yeah, I realised that after I'd posted my response actually.
  16. Gemmill may be many things, but he would take great exception to being called a manual labourer.
  17. Erm... did you not notice the media vitriol (bordering on the incredible in some cases) on say Robson, Taylor, Venables, Hoddle, Keegan and now Mclaren? It comes with the job, and has for a long time now. Being Swedish was the very, very least of Erikssons media problems, being paid a massive amount to not really get anywhere and shagging anything that would open their legs to him were however. To be honest, broadly, Eriksson got a fairly easy ride from the English press, compared to many other (english) England managers anyway. Agreed. His tenure amounted to a criminal waste when it came to the knock out tournaments. Potentially may not have as strong a national team again (pool of players) for a whole generation.

  19. Anticipated. Ever seen the guy pick up a guitar and do a solo? Have you? He used to be in a metal band didn't he? Saw some footage on MTV once. He isn't that good or orignal in terms of his sound from what I've seen or heard. No he never. He's a solo artist and always has been, sometimes backed by a band named Twisted Brown Trucker. Probably one of the most unique acts around in the fashion that nobody covers as many varieties of music as him, from rap, to rock, to country etc etc. You surely have to be a talented musician to be able to make the transition from such different types of music. And he is. Significantly, I think most would dispute that he is able to make that transition tbf. Sold over 10 million of his rock/rap album Devil Without a Cause then hit the top of the country charts with 'Picture' featuring Sheryl Crow, so no, I don't think most would dispute that. Timmy Mallet sold a lot of records like. Do you imagine the likes of Jay-Z consider him to be a credible rap artist? Jay Z and the likes probably only consider you a credible rapper if you're 'from da hood'. Not really a reflection on musical ability, is it? Rap tends to be political though so that wouldnt be wholly undeserved. Perhaps he's technically competent in rap, but I'd question whether he had owt worth saying. Ie is the output actually worth the effort? You've persuaded me on the technical competence though like I say-I'll concede that point and give credit where its due.
