  1. The only possible connection he could have to us is wanting to do it for Sir Bobby (who gave him his big break in football). But he doesn't strike me as a sentimental man.
  2. What did you say? And did he put you down?
  3. What's stopping them getting out of their seat and stretching their legs walking up and down the aisle a couple of times?
  4. The World Cup is bigger by far Alex officially too. So it's the 2nd biggest then, for the sake of argument. It doesn't really change my point much. The winter olympics has been dropped. Can't imagine many in this country being that bothered about that.
  5. Crocktastic. Probably already faxed him a contract for Jan. Double swoop, him and Dean Ashton.
  6. Surprised the club and/or their insurance allowed it. Most professional sportsmen are banned for things like motorbikes and going skiing.
  7. Fucking annoying when they kept cutting away to show the racing, missing a wicket.
  8. Good shout you know that, and maybe the Irish people would start supporting their local IRISH clubs. In all seriousness though based on current squads if you had a league of Celtic, Swansea, Rangers, Linfield, Derry, Cork, Aberdeen, Glentoran, Hearts, Wrexham, Cardiff etc... I would put every penny I could muster on Cardiff City winning it. A celtic league is an interesting idea. I can't see the atlantic league idea with scottish/dutch/belgian/scandinavian teams being that popular and therefore unlikely to raise extra tv revenue which is the root of the problem.
  9. Another kick in the teeth for Rangers, they're financially fucked at the moment. Walter Smith has admitted that they are being run by the bank, effectively one step away from administration, although that would never be allowed to happen.
  10. Good news I would've thought, although cricket's top brass will be concerned about the drop in revenue.
  11. Thought the same. You could chop wood on that face.
  12. My other concern is that if a committee makes every decision you end up with something that no-one is completely happy with or accountable for. One man holding the rudder is better imo. As long as that man isn't a fat, sweaty, clueless cockney twat with a warehouse full of shoddy polyester goods obviously.
  13. Maybe I've been spoilt by the Hall/Shepherd era but the idea of settling for a second-tier, or making-up-the-numbers PL existence doesn't really appeal to me, fan-owned or not.
  14. This is what concerns me. Where does the money come from to keep the club going, to compete in the prem, to buy players? Doesn't it come from the ongoing monthly pensions contributions? I'm still not clear on how the club pays out your pension like. Does that take precedence over Ameobi's wages? And how much is it going to cost to compete at a decent level? This is an era where middling premership strikers cost double digit millions and someone is willing to pay almost £20million for a fullback.

  16. I'm a natural pessimist, so I'm not letting my imagination run away with me.
  17. The best thing about it is the couple of seconds thrashing about trying to save herself before she thinks "ah fuck it, I'm pissed" and just lies there.
  18. Quite reserved this year, they've waited til the 25th. They've beaten the personal best by two days this year
  19. MVB is a supervisor now in an Orange call centre isn't he?
  20. Well, Snakehips? Thought this might be you after hearing about your planned presentation the other day
  21. I presume Stevie Me will be 'rested' for the England game next week after an arduous 45 minutes football this month?
  22. This abuse he's getting for writing a scruffy letter to the family of a soldier seems a bit harsh. He can't help being partially-sighted and a bad writer. I would've thought a handwritten note wast far more personal than a typed Downing Street release.
  23. Please, please don't let them sack him.
