  1. I wonder if their owner is a big fat cocknose too? We should get twinned with them.
  2. Alonso undoubtedly has a chip on his shoulder. He thinks that if it wasn't for Hamilton he'd still be at McLaren, a four-time World Champion, looking for a fifth. Meenzer is right, the team radio broadcasts have clearly shown Hamilton isn't above snapping his crayons now and again.
  3. This could be something or nothing, so make of it what you will. Just go sent it via text: "Court upheld a further 2 week gagging order on Steven Gerrard's private life. Turns out he got his wife's sister pregnant (NOT a 16 year old). Will hit the papers in 14 days, the judge upheld the gagging order to protect the FA while they decide on Capello and the future of English football. John Terry and the England players all know about it, and Terry had an argument with Capello because Gerrard got to keep the captains armband. The tension in the camp was down to JT, and half the team saying Gerrard was a disgrace whilst the other half backed him. The press conference was related to the tensions and JT wanted Gerrard exposed - they hate each other"
  4. Almost three weeks between the two posts above. Channel 4 doing the right thing knocking it on the head, no one gives a fuck about it anymore.
  5. Agreed. I hope he acts on what he's learnt about tournament football and that he moves away from 442 though.
  6. *Crosses finger* Please let it be Ashley, please let it be Ashley...
  7. Linkage? was him talking on SSN no articles What was he saying then?
  8. I agree. Alonso hasn't been the same since he let Hamilton get inside his head in 2007. Alonso and Ferrari have disappointed me since the second race, making too many unforced errors. He has started from the back or near the back at: Australia (spinning at first corner after hitting Button due to a slow get-away), Malaysia (getting caught out by the weather in qualifying), China (jumping the start and serving a drive-through), Monaco (wrecking the car just before qualifying) He also seemed to have a sulk on at the Turkish GP earlier this month, and spent 40 laps whinging about something neither him nor his team had any control of on Sunday. Some of it could be put down to bad luck, but you make your own luck and things like this level out over time. Alonso needs to get his head back on right, and concentrate on his own performances, not what Hamilton or McLaren are doing. And Ferrari need to get themselves organised to give him a stable platform to work from instead of fanning the flames between him and Hamilton.
  9. Can you imagine the outcry in the papers (and from RobW) if the boot was on the other foot, and the FIA showed their 'bias' by letting a Ferrari driver go effectively unpunished, whilst a brave, British McLaren laboured obediently behind the safety car.
  10. Lets hope the 'Blackburn' Woy turns up, and not the 'Fulham' one. Does this mean Dalgleish is likely to fuck off in a huff too, as he withdrew from the board to put himself forward as a candidate?
  11. The culture in our country isn't right for us to win big international tournaments, club football is far more important than England. With Dave Richards being handed control, I can't see that changing anytime soon. I'm 50-50 on whether Capello should go. I take onboard what Graham Taylor said about him gaining valuable tournament experience, but is he too stubborn to act on it?
  12. Rob, let me put this in black and white for you. For today's race, Vettel qualified on pole in 1min 37.587sec. To qualify under the new ruling, each driver would have had to qualify within 107% of that time - that would be 1min 44.418 sec. Bruno Senna qualified last for today's race in 1min 42.851sec. Are you getting it now? And Regarding bending the rule for Ferrari: The last time the 107% was in use they would still let a driver start from the back if he had got under the 107% time during the practice sessions then had a problem in qualifying. In Monaco this year Alonso had been the fastest in thursday practice so would have been allowed to start from the back or the pit-lane despite wrecking his car before qualifying. Also, bearing in mind you think the rules are twisted to suit Ferrari, what did you think of Hamilton passing the safety car and only getting a stop-go which put him in second, whilst Alonso obeyed the rules putting him down to tenth after sitting behind the safety car for a lap?
  13. This is true. Time for the media to stop blowing smoke up these lads' arseholes with all the "world class" chat. And sadly Mr. Shearer is one of the very worst offenders. It turned out that our golden generation were a bunch of gutless pussies without the temperament required for major tournaments. They are well past their peak now and should really have won Euro 2004. Shearer made a good point tonight that Fabio said he wouldn't pick players who were out of form, he wouldn't pick players who weren't fully fit, he wouldn't pick players who weren't playing regularly for their clubs and he wouldn't play people out of position; He ended up doing them all.
  14. Seriously, if FIFA can't source enough referees and assistants to run a decent World Cup, then they need to start relying on technology more. Some of the officiating at this World Cup has been fucking appalling. Whaddya reckon about rolling out that 5 Official thing they tried in the UEFA cup (whatever it's called now)? I love the logic that you can eliminate human error by introducing two extra humans. well if they're not willing to take up technology, and they pushed a 5 official idea, it's sure;y better than nowt? They need to go the technology route. This stuff that a World Cup Finals needs to be officiated in exactly the same way as a parks game is balls. It's worked in cricket, its worked in rugby and its worked in tennis. They either use a Hawkeye system on the goal-line or the fourth official has a tv screen in front of him and can buzz the ref.

  16. That's what I'm saying. That in the past representing your country was the pinnacle of your career, now players that have 30+ Champions League appearances look down on it.
  17. Kevin, if you're from Londonderry how come you don't follow Northern Ireland?
  18. This, in a nutshell. I wonder if present-day players have had it drummed into them by their club managers that the clubs are much more important than playing for their country. That the clubs are their bread & butter and the Champions League is better than international football. In short, that playing for England aint all that.
  19. No, of course they haven't, it was exactly the same. James May going up the volcano was quite good though.
  20. Well, lets see if they have freshened it up...
  21. There is two possible explanations here: Either Hamilton wasn't quite sure what to do and hesitated for a fraction of a second before deciding to pass the safety car; or: He knew exactly what he was doing and wanted to ease off for a fraction of a second to make sure he got past the safety car in time but the Ferrari's couldn't, and got it wrong.
