Oh, and O'Leary, fuck off, cunt. 93052 We didn't need confirmation that O'Leary is an arse, but there it is anyway. I heard the remarks, the man is a total embarrassment to his club.

I see you're still plugging along with that line! Think you'll find no-one actually said that, they've said we could have a better chairman than FS but that does not automatically translate into "he appoints shit managers"... It IS....you can't knock him for handing out money to managers, and haven't, you've knocked him for appointing "failures"....so why don't you lay out the criterial you think he should look for ? [none of this hindsight malarkey] 93005 Nope, he's been knocked for making failures, not appointing them! We've been here loads of times and 99% of people don't support your view that Shepherd is innocent in all of this - even HTL agrees he's fucked up big time... 93034 Craig So giving Souness £50m to spend on players of Souness's own choice made Souness a failure? Backing him fully regarding all transfers both in and out of the club made Souness a failure? Insert varying amounts of money and apply the same question to any of the managers appointed by the Board during Fred's time as Chairman. I'm seriously interested in exactly how backing successive managers fully has turned these people into failures. Seems to me that they did it all by themselves by making poor footballing decisions. Name one Chairman other than John Hall who has been a better Chairman of Newcastle United in the last 50 years or more? I know this doesn't mean Fred is the best Chairman known to mankind, but the criticism of him needs to be brought into perspective. All he can do is back the manager and hope the manager makes the correct footballing decisions.

Yes... 92777 In what sense? As far as I remember, as soon as everyone figured out their long ball game, they started to lose. O'Neill jumped ship when they were on the down. Or do I remember wrongly? 92784 You asked if he achieved more, winning two cups is.. 92785 ...not how you judge the ability of a manager. You judge a manager by the performance of their team in the league over a sustained period of time.

I don't.

Everyone isn't.

That's a nice change of tune to the tosser's "I've done nothing wrong, everything is fine." and the baffling lack of self-criticism. 92712 Aye, he's doing and saying all the right things. Let's hope there aren't any knee jerks from various blinkered types today if we lose. I'm expecting some people to claim Souness shouldn't have been sacked when we lose our first game under Roeder.

First post in 2 months - of course it's cos you actually like this place rather than the fact that you've been banned from over there, right? 92539 You were very nearly correct! http://www.toontastic.net/forum/index.php?...topic=3876&st=0 92588

I think you hit the nail on the head, actually.

I'm convinced that N'Zogbia is....
Howaythelads replied to Smooth Operator's topic in Newcastle Forum
I don't believe in the slightest that FS has appointed any manager based on who the supporters want, he's ( meaning the Board ) appointed people usually for a single character trait to turn around some negative within the team. It's been the choice of the Board, not the fans. It's very blinkered and is his major weakness, in all other aspects he does a top job. -
I'd be gutted if Hoddle was offered the job.
-
Having been given enough time to squander £50m of the clubs cash and turn us into shite, he realises the job is now a lot tougher than when he took over.
-
Just looked at the link, ( only page 1, I can't be arsed with that forum anymore, I stopped winding them up on there about 3 years ago, or even longer. They do have a sense of humour, mind you, so........hmmm ) To be fair Renton, all I've said is that I've been impressed by what Jones has done at all of the clubs he's managed. If we can't attract a proven top manager I think he'd be a good choice, much better than Bruce, O'Neill or the likes of O'Leary.

Seems like the only thing Luque wants to fill right now is his pockets. But, we'll see how he goes under a proper manager, I expect everybody to improve. -

Aye, he's a future top player. I just hope he isn't used too much and them becomes burned out. It happens. -
Pud, really it depends on which one he is refering to doesn't it? If he means the one who was the main vocalist in the monkees, then no his mother wasn't the inventor of "liquid paper." If he means the one who took a lot of acid in the 60s/70s likes to sleep with mostly men and the occassional woman, has no lips and thinks he is a duke then no he wouldn't be much chop either. If he is refering to the one who indeed does owns a nice locker, then at least it would be interesting listening to the post match interview, especially on talk like a pirate day (Can you imagine how ecstatic Lou would be???) If he is refering to the former Wolves/Southampton/Stockport manager, who was accused and cleared of child abuse claims, then fuck we really need to address how low the bar has been set after what we have had to suffer under the managerialship of clueless. Let's at least aim high. 89985 He's 'higher' than Souness and no 'lower' than O'Neill, for people who don't fall for media hype. 90010 With respect, most people are higher than Souness... Dave Jones isn't by much though - what's the matter HTL? Expectations lowered?? 90018 I think he's a massive improvement over Souness, but I'd rather it wasKeegan, like.

Like everybody else, I'd like a so-called top manager, it's the natural reaction I reckon. But you have to remember that when we appointed Dalglish he was widely regarded as being a top manager, having won the league twice with different clubs. He still fucked it up massively though. Gullit was held in high regard, he also fucked up badly. There are no guarantees and it may well be that people like Hitzfeld will have no interest in the club. Look at how we're portrayed in the media, he's a Jorman, many Brits believe the shite they read about the club, why wouldn't Hitzfeld? I really believe Dave Jones is a decent manager, so is Brian Little ( discarded by Ellis when in the top 5 or something ), so is Dowie and so is Paul Jewell. There are others, but they aren't the flavour of the month in the media. I can understand why people may want Allardyce, but I've never been convinced by O'Neill, for example.

True. I quoted you, but it was a general point. Probably shouldn't have quoted. I thought you would have realised though, tbh. -

You wouldn't let him babysit mind! 89976 Edit: Got the wrong smiley thingy. It's early.

He's right, although Robson has the luxury of us never knowing how far the decline would have gone if he'd stayed. 89320 You could say that about any manager after their dismissal though, it's a meaningless comment. You can only judge him on his past, not some hypothetical future. I thought he'd had his time but no way would we be where we are now if we had stuck with Robson and given him £50 M to spend. Or at least that's what history suggests. 89336 Totally agree with you here Renton, had Robson had a 50 mill war chest the likes of Boumsong and Luque wouldn't have come here. Didn't Robson turn down Boumsong on a free when he was looking to leave Auxerre? Canny judge of a player! 89719 *cough* Carl Cort *cough* Hugo Viana 89959 They all buy duds from time to time.

No. He has a good a track record imo. Just isn't hyped much by the media.

Good manager. Would do for me ahead of the likes of O'Neill, for example.

Howaythelads replied to Gemmill's topic in Newcastle Forum
Hmmm, interesting. Why is it assumed racism has to be toward black players? -
Gol, take your blue tinted specs off. Two wrongs don't make a right. Robben should get a damn sight more than a booking, the conniving little cnut. Until blatant cheating like this is punished with the severity it deserves then it will continue to be commonplace. I don't think Reina should have been sent off - it wasn't even a slap, he just placed his palm on the guy's face as he told him to foxtrot oscar. Violent conduct my arse. Yeah yeah, I know, 'raising your hands' and all that. 89903 Bloody hell. Good post. 89921 This sort of thing is EXACTLY what the TV/video cameras should be used to pick up and dish out justice for. When players are shown they will get a good long ban, and they can't dispute it when its on camera, it will soon stop. 89922 Exactly. Although to be honest, it would be a laugh seeing Rambo zoom onto the pitch and try to 'kick a player all over'.
