    Demba Ba

Think it's 21 in 28 starts if you include his West Ham stats which is the most prolific strike rate in the premier league apparently.
  2. Well there's about 5 posts on the last page not to mention other threads, fortunately it seems to be the same small bunch, unfortunately they seem to be more vocal/prolific.
  3. Despite a slump I don't think Best is shite at all, he just isn't amazing. He has been at his best (excuse the pun) when being played as the main man though. Vuckic is more of a number 10 apparently, Sammy is a winger but can play up front. I think Lovenkrands is shit BUT he is capable of getting the odd goal by finding himself in the right position. It's not ideal but it's more promising than the initial list imo.

    Demba Ba

He's better than Bent who went for £18m rising to £24m and Ireland (who must have still been rated at about £4m at the time). £15m would definitely have been a steal, £20m still would have been.
  5. The football section is going a bit downhill on here with the mongs taking over
  6. Prefer to look at it like we have: Best - Average, has looked better when he is the main man though (Carroll being sold, Ba's slow start) Ameobi - Average, can produce at times though. Ben Arfa - Whole load of talent but can give it away a lot but players like that will and it's worth the bit of magic when it does come off. Vuckic - Cracking eye for goal if not very raw. Sammy Ameobi - Unpredictable. Lovenkrands - Capable of being in the right place at the right time Don't think Ranger will be back before Ba anyway. I think I read Ba is only liking to be missing for 4 games anyway. But yeah it's a massive failure for at least 3 transfer windows now. Pathetic that we have obviously put all our efforts into one player with absolutely no back up plan. Even if they are (they will be) being tight twats there must be forwards out there who are out of contract in the summer so will be available for a knock down price, or others have mentioned a loan would do but Ashley with his inability to tell the difference thinks a loan is like renting a house so a waste of money
  7. You should probably look at sarcasm in the dictionary too
  8. Or that they spent £100m in the summer on top of what was already a quite expensive squad? For all their domination and nearly £60m spent on 2 strikers yet only being one point ahead of us with our £2m (tops) strikeforce doesn't put Kenny too far ahead of Pardew for me.
  9. So you are this mythical 'would rather lose 4-3 than win 1-0' fan the media bring up? Yes we do play hoof ball at times but comparing us to Stoke is ridiculous.
  10. But won't get as many points and will probably be in or around the scrap at the end of the season. Pretty sure the Norwegian is a Liverpool fan, seems to have a proper hard on for them and sees something I doubt anyone else does in their play.
  11. Liverpool certainly don't dominate every game like you seem to imagine, they have also been consistently better than us for a long, long time (including the 2 is it? times we finished about them is like claiming Sunderland are a better team than us). Liverpool also have a strike force that cost about £60m more than ours so whose fault are these apparent finishing problems?
  12. Get a time machine then, we aren't the club we were back then and unless we get a wealthy owner that is prepared to spend big money we won't be playing the type of football Spurs, Man City, Man Utd and Liverpool* play whilst still winning games. *Liverpool really don't play that great football tbh, certainly not compared to the other 3 you have lumped them in with.
  13. Our last 5 results at Anfield have been Lost 2-0 Lost 2-0 Lost 3-0 Lost 3-0 Lost 3-0 So it's not as if losing there will be a new thing, or something indicative of this manager/squad/regime. That shit playing style you have mentioned has got us to a higher position than 13 other teams in this league, also a massive 1 point behind the carpet football side Liverpool and 3 points behind Arsenal. You are talking like we are fucking Stoke! I don't really see your point, it just seems like you are trying to be the most repetitively negative person on the forum, is there some sort of prize I am unaware of?
  14. We are doing pretty well getting overrun every game but still picking up the points. It's like you have some sort of agenda or something (that's not to say we have been perfected or haven't been dominated in some games but it's nothing like you seem desperate to suggest it is).
  15. He was clueless however we won 2-0, the first coming shortly a change PARDEW made. Makes sense, again it was all down to good luck and was in spite of Pardew, not because of him. In regards to Enrique, he will keep many a winger in his back pocket as he did with us. As much as Obertan hasn't been brilliant for us there will be no shame in being contained by one of the best left backs in the league.
  16. No we werent, we were always too good for the championship, even when half the squad fucked off. And that Bolton-win had a draw/loss written all over it until HBA came on. Pardew is stubborn and lucky both, anyone claiming with a straight face that we played well the first 11 games when we were "CL`ing" it up with the big boys and pretending to be billy big bucks needs to take their glasses off and have another pint. We have had 2-3 decent and perhaps 1-2 genuinely good games before the losing streak, rest of the points gathered were blatantly lucky. You make your own luck at the end of the day and without exception you get far luckier if you bust your balls for 90 minutes + every game. Nobody has ever claimed we were chalking up sweeping victories on a par with the CL/'billy big bucks' of the division (this is just a lie that gets perpetuated to suit certain agendas), we were playing to the best of our abilities and the added effort and determination was making the difference. The downturn when injuries hit was forecast by nearly everyone as it's a consensus on here that our squad is too thin. Peoples appraisals on here this season of personnel and performance could scarcely be more rational. It is true to say the expectation was relegation when we came up. You're re-writing history now because all of a sudden 7th isnt good enough only a year on. Grow up, it's Newcastle United-we never win owt so don't mess yourself just because a team with relegation expectations doesn't make the CL this year. Personality is irrelevant, one of the absolute strengths this season has been the manager so to call him 'lucky' is a joke. He's had a positive impact on the whole so it's neither here nor there if his every team selection hasn't had you touching yourself 24/7. Spot on.
  17. He was lost for a good few seconds when questioned, bullshitted, went to his 'mate' for help then looked embarrassed. Made a massive tit of myself and he knew as soon as he said it.
  18. That's exactly what I said, you got me!

No I agree. Men just aren't men these days (I do actually mean that as stupid as it sounds)
  20. Yeah you tend to get lucky for that long
  21. But even then our owner is much bigger than Randy Lerner so another strike against them Actually I'm probably giving Lerner more credit than he deserves. I think Villa's strategy is basically the same as ours now - to give up all hope of ever qualifying for the Champions League (or competing with the "top" 6 for that matter) and to spend as little money as possible to stay in the division. We can look forward to competing in an annual battle of the also rans with clubs like Villa and Stoke to try and finish 7th We started competing in that battle before Ashl... nah we'll leave that one alone
  22. But even then our owner is much bigger than Randy Lerner so another strike against them
