  1. Shock horror!!! I agree with HF, especially the bold bit, every team/squad needs one (or two) of them.
  2. It comes down to the manager and the quality of replacement players, because every team has to replace players if/when a bigger fish or a seriously big offer comes along (see Man U and Ronaldo as the extreme example of the big fish getting out-big fished). Net transfer spend is irrelevant as a measure of anything, it's what you spend (however frugal) and how it's spent that's important and that comes back to the manager (and his set up). a) is possible - Spurs have proven that, given their net spend (across all facets of the club - which is an important point, nee ying without the yang) does not show a net spend overall. That is the ultimate wholly sustainable model, when they've had to sell to buy they have, they've never "taken a punt" or a risk of any significance.
  3. Just quoting this in the hope Leazes won't ignore it twice. Hilarious isn't it, he brings up Spurs, asks a question, which I answer and he goes off on a "oh no usual bollocks about Spurs again" rant
  4. It's impossible to compete with Man City, it's possible to compete with Spurs eventually but it will take time to build ourselves to that level of finances. I thought you were ignoring me after you didn't bother telling me which parts of the earlier post were rubbish. but it isn't so long ago that Spurs couldn't compete with us ? How has this turnaround happened ? Has it been easy for them to do that, to quote the current deluded rubbish being spouted by Chez ? They sold players for significant profit and bought good cheaper replacements without spending all the cash they brought in.
  5. That's not how LM has portrayed it at all. He's got no issues with selling anyone if it's right for the club and the manager is backed to replace them. Of course it's not how he's portrayed it, because what I've set out is the real world and he portrays anything but. He believes we'll sell anyone and everyone for the glimpse of a profit, as a nailed on club policy so the cash can be "pocketed", not that he understands what pocketing is. Your prolonged defence of him is highly amusing though.
  6. Bolton were top 7 in March last year. I suppose that renders their relegation this season uttterly pointless. So what you are saying is we're worse than Bolton, or you expect us to be ???
  7. Given the performance of the back four, which above all other parts of the team is a unit, at the start of the season (prior to STaylors injury) it could be argued RTaylor > Enrique. It could be argued, I won't argue it, but it could. No comparison player to player, but as a unit ......
  8. It's usually money To portray selling your best players as the sole preserve of NUFC is ludicrous. It is an inevitability of the modern game. The best you can do is protect your investment by making sure you control the exit and maximise the income. Every team does it and it is totally inevitable if there’s a market for a player, no-one is immune (See Nasri, Fabregas, Ronaldo, Alonso, Berbatov, Carrick etc etc) it’s how you replace them that’s key. You cannot stop it happening. It’s not a club policy, it’s a fact of life. And before someone mentions Modric. He still hasn’t signed his new deal, there’s a heck of a lot more examples of players leaving clubs than staying when there’s been a market for them. It’s how they, and their agents, make their real money.
  9. Yes, they have a history of selling players for inflated fee's and building, onwards and upwards. See Carrick, Berbatov for expensive examples.(same as all the succesful clubs do). what a load of crap. 100% true and factual, yet crap in Leazes-world. Sums you up perfectly.
  10. All the time, they record profits on player trading every fucking year. Loon so they sell their best players to pay the contracts of others, and this is how they are in the Champions League and their turnover has overtaken ours in the last 4 years ? Yes, they have a history of selling players for inflated fee's and building, onwards and upwards. See Carrick, Berbatov for expensive examples.(same as all the succesful clubs do).
  11. is this a spectaclar u-turn in the making here ? U turn on what ????
  12. I believe the wage structure is set as a % of turnover, if the income goes higher, so can (and will) the wages. It's not a ceiling based on a cap at any particular weekly wage level. please tell us when Spurs have sold their best players to pay the wages of other players, as you constantly harp on about them and tell us how we are doing things like they are now ? Then make a post or two about football, if you can. All the time, they record profits on player trading every fucking year. Loon
  13. Was Carroll's new contract aimed at hiking up the transfer fee? arguably, yes. they knew other clubs were interested in him and signed him to a long term deal just months before selling him for a vastly inflated fee. It's the only thing clubs can do to at least give them any measure of control over players leaving. Pay top whack or fuck off (or way over the top whack in Carroll's case).

  15. He's much more comfortable with Raylor behind him
  16. Are we making a profit now before player trading? Genuine question, I'm not up to date with this stuff I would doubt it, be good if we were, Arsenal sometines do (though not for a couple of years), Spurs who made profits in 5 of the last 6 years only made an operating profit once in that time before player trading (2007) all the other years they showed a loss before the player trading was added in.
  17. There is a "market rate" check/audit in place on other revenue to stop that happening, that's why City got in with their blockbuster, Ehitad I think, deal before the rules kicked in, but the big IF remains.
  18. You can download a PDF of the full rules from UEFA, canny read tbh IF they make it stick.
  19. I don't think anyone has "singled him out" it's just he does not merit the blind man-love he get's from way to many. It's the logic behind everyones reasoning for why we lose that gets to me. If we lose and Obertan plays it's Obertans fault. if we lose and Ben Arfa doesnt play its Pardew's fault. If Ben Arfa plays and doesnt live up to his almighty expectations its reason for him not to play whilst others have poor games and none of them get mentioned. Look at Cabaye yesterday, he done nothing, Ba was poor aswell. People are scapegoating the same players over and over again without looking further afield Totally agree, but I think HBA appears nominated as the saviour and holds some anointed position as the infallible genius who, when some players can do no right, he's on the can do no wrong side of the same coin (to some people) and any criticism is sacrilege. As a team yesterday we were woefull.
  20. I don't think anyone has "singled him out" it's just he does not merit the blind man-love he get's from way to many.
  21. His display amply illustrated why tbh
  22. Very rusty in midfield, understandable give the time it's been since Tiote/Cabaye have played together and they're swamping it with 5 men. 2 nowt up, can't complain.
  23. It's loss making only up to the point that the losses can be covered, otherwise teams join the list. Which according to you is perfectly fine and dandy. On your question, whatever it was, no, you owe me, and others, dozens of answers, am done with your insanity. P.S. where'd the supermarket nonsense come from ??? (another question that'll just float idly by). why don't you post about football ? How do all these clubs come back from administration, do you think it amounted to more or less than being relegated to them ? What do you think is going to happen to Rangers, now they are suffering this administration you have been harping on about for fuck knows how long ? This is totally about football, look at the list, those clubs are patently all so much better off than they were. as we are, thankfully having not had to go via Admin. Thick as mince!!!! DOH!!! I answered another question, and yet again you didn't
