Despite the FACT, with one exception, we always have 10 qualifications in 15 years. Lets see if your man gets close, once in 5 years so far... Have you looked at the stadium roof etc yet ? Different point of order, same old bullshit diatribe So is european qualification an "excuse", or not, for dropping League position ????
-
you should build up the team, and the squad by not selling anybody, and compete on all 4 fronts. Europe is no excuse for a club like NUFC to drop down from the league position. If you want to qualify for europe again, its the only way to do it. Despite the FACT, with one exception, we always have

Like they do, or have, that's the point that you and LM miss consistently. They all turn over their staff, always have, always will it is totally unavoidable unless you are Man U (and even they aren't exempt) Chelski or Man C. Look at Arsenal last summer (and possibly this one with RVP)

if you don't take a shot, you don't score a goal. You will have to understand, that not every transfer deal succeeds, nobody has ever had a 100% record. We could sign a duff player in August just like we could have done in January, so what is your point ? Erm, you take your time, do your checks (due dilligence if you like) and minimise the risk.

Bad analogy, Winterfell is smoking ruins all the blokes are dead (except the crippled kid and he's now a tree) and only the lasses remain

Gan on the Jambo's

Based on what I've seen of them this season this is by far the worst Liverpool team I have seen in my lifetime. Wouldn't you agree ??

It's all a ploy to make the league more exciting, Stevie guaranteed they'd stay up I believe.

How Newcastle Became Talk Of The Toon
Toonpack replied to Christmas Tree 's topic in Newcastle Forum
T'is said, better to be lucky than good. Although I don't ascribe to it being down to pure luck tbh. Billionaire's don't become stinking rich solely by being lucky, they learn from their mistakes ultra fast and are totally ruthless in putting things right. The despatch of Houghton and replacement with Pardew was ruthless and at the time bizarre (appeared almost a Kinnear-esque decision) yet the appointment of Pardew now seems inspired, although perhaps that has a taint of "luck" (although we have no idea what science - if any - went into that decision). As with all things football a team/clubs success is down to striking it "lucky" with a manager right place/right time etc etc. -
Football disasters are a rare thing, thankfully, yet there is a common denominator in two of them

That'd be one argument the twat couldn't walk away from

It's a shame the ship wasn't built in Liverpool, really No football games on the dates of the duration of the voyage

winning arguments ? In a few years time, people will be saying that Mike Ashley never had any intention for the club other than running an advertising vehicle for Sports direct, would sell a player to make money rather than compete for the higher places including the higher monies and bigger sponsorships that go with speculating to accumulate on a longer term basis, and the current good season [first in 5 years] will not be built on with an intention to go higher, everything I've been saying for ages which they disagree with. And you say I'm hilarious ? Preposterous (all of it, not only the highlighted bit)

My contention is that the performances that he was giving were consistent with what was to be expected from someone who has been out for so long and hadn't had a chance to adjust to the league. I also believe that his in reading defensive contribution is a result of not only gaining proper match fitness, but also confidence is his legs after his injuries. On top of that I think having been a more central player in the team will naturally lead someone to want to put more effort into the other parts of their game - just as a defender will get forward on occassion an attacking player will give more attention to defensive duties. As I said earlier I'm just ecstatic that we're getting these sort of performances out of Ben Arfa. I pipe up because people incorrectly point to the performances as evidence that Pardew choosing not to play Ben Arfa earlier in the piece was justified. In your opinion................. The talent/flair/genius is all HBA's. However, I'm firmly in the camp that the honing/melding of said talent/flair/genius into a position where it can flourish/express itself, is at the feet of Pardew.

Had the easiest 33/38th's of a season ever tbh

Err, that's a fact how exactly? What we know is that Ben Arfa's ability has brought spectacular results. All that was required for that was to give him sufficient time on the pitch to regain fitness, sharpness, touch and to form combinations with his team mates. Look at Pardew's treatment of Obertan? Why do you think that has so starkly constrained the treatment of Ben Arfa? For me it comes down to two things - Obertan was Pardew's choice and so the pressure was on him for Obertan to perform, and two, Ben Arfa is not the type of person to be wholly compliant to the demands of a manager. Pardew clearly favors those sort of players (eg. Perch). Ben Arfa was played sporadically and it was only when there was no other options that he began to see regular time on the pitch (not just pressure filled cameos). With that time on the pitch he has produced in spades and is now happy, fit and at the top of his game. When he's in that state it won't really matter who the manager is, he'd be a dream to have in the side. I like Pardew but I don't think he has handled Ben Arfa particularly well. At least, I think, he has treated him on par with others in the side only in the way that attitude and application is given a higher regard than skill and creativity. Best is another example of this. Despite the fact just about every coach who's had anything to to with HBA says otherwise (in reportedly glowing terms) ??
