It creates us some slack and kicks the GK question down the road a year, there's no real downside to it IMO.

Has he actually said definitively he wanted to leave ? It was reported he wanted to explore his options and even that had no quotes. The stuff in the Saudi press from his agent said all options including continuing at Newcastle. I do think he wants away mind, but he's not said it afaik, a transfer request would do the trick but that negates bonuses for "loyalty" - You've gotta laugh.
