I get the sense he is being advised to move on and the Mirror story on .com looks like it was written by Ba's agent. I don't think he's been particularly effective on the left in a 4-3-3. I'd go after Victor Moses or Hoilett to play there. That would leave us very vulnerable if Cisse got injured mind.

http://www.nufc.co.u...2281670_2786281 Newcastle United can today announce the signing of midfielder Romain Amalfitano. The 22-year-old Frenchman will join the Club when his contract at Reims expires on Saturday, 30th June. He will officially become a Newcastle player on Sunday, 1st July. Born in Nice, Amalfitano is a versatile midfielder who is equally comfortable operating on either the right flank or in a central role. He came through the youth system at Châteauroux before starting his senior career with Evian. From there, Amalfitano joined Reims in 2010, and has played at the Stade Auguste Delaune for the past two seasons, helping them achieve promotion back to Ligue 1 last season. Amalfitano, whose older brother Morgan plays for Marseille, said: "I am very happy to be a Newcastle player. "I have seen a bit of the city already and it is a change from France but one I am really looking forward to. "When a club like Newcastle wants you to play for them it can only be a good thing. I have taken the opportunity to play in the Premier League and cannot wait to get going."

There must be some problem with Richards. The Kelly decision is baffling, for my money even Simpson has had a better season.
-
I hope he's not too attached to that 23 shirt!!

Presumably this is an attempt to lower expectation levels to such an extent that he will be roundly applauded when we narrowly escape our third defeat on the trot in the group stages.

Skagboys - Irvine Welsh This possible should be in the 'things that make you feel old' thread. Despite that I am enjoying the challenge of reading everything in 'wee ned'

Without sounding too much like a lass, how much weight has Mike Ashley lost. TMA tbh. -
Jonas gets us higher up the pitch, he is an outlet, he has pace, he tracks back. He wins free kicks in good areas. His end product isn't great but he gets us in to areas where we can hurt other teams. He is a lot like Dyer in that respect.

We have a £35 million striker on our books again.

I cringed when Paul Weller was on Jules Holland, I remember him when he could carry off that hair.

Stand easy people, I am sorted. You may stop your frantic phone calling and favour calling in-ing.

Great if you have Tom. Happy to pay £45.

Just found out I'm going to be in Newcastle for the weekend. If you hear of/have a spare, please let me know.

We should at least be looking at Hoilett. Small fee, potentially a large sell on. Quick, direct, scores goals and won't be in Africa two months of the season. DS's Wish list - Pieters, Douglas, Hoilett, Zaha.

Have just got in to the Lee Child's 'Jack Reacher' novels. Not exactly high brow, but very easy to read and not easy to put down. Went through 'one shot' in a fortnight (very quick for me).
-
How does that work. And why would anyone release their first team players?

Do we know if Cisse and/or Ba is likely to be selected for Senegal as the elderly player

I wholeheartedly agree with that in bold. Ironically you have picked out 6 players who loved the club, loved the area and who (to lesser extent nobby) were very good mates and played for each other. They were also bought at the right age, at the right price and with no sense of panic. Exactly the model that I, and hundreds of others on here, feel is the right model and is serving us well at the moment. But make no mistake there were dozens of others who were here for l£ss nobl£ r£asons.
-
You are right. Dyer and Bowyer showed great respect for the club by fighting on the pitch. The only honour that Fat Pat bought to the club was the rate at which he shagged his way through the quayside and the rate at which his obesity took hold. Marcelino's little finger injury showed his overwhelming desire to fight for the cause. Bellamy's insistence on telling anyone who would listen that he learned more off Andy Gray on MNF than he did from SBR showed intense respect for not only NUFC but for one of the finest men you could ever meet. Have a fucking word with yourself, the club has been infested by overpaid, under hungry welts for years.

There are few who have tried and failed to similarly attach themselves to St. George's Day, but there isn't really a national beer in England. They all seem to be either Southern or Northern. The idea of going out and getting smashed on Black Sheep in the name of England would appeal to me.
-
I reckon it's changed since Euro 2000. I've never been able to get a drink at European game. Having said that, I was usually pretty well smashed before getting to the game.

I remember a queue out of what was like a shed at the back of the stand in the Olympic Stadium in Munich and dozens of mags bought 'bavarian beer' only to discover that it was 'alkoholfrei'

The Derry sending off sends the message that the FA believe even the slightest contact should result in penalties. I can forgive the referee because he sees it once, in real time and at high pace and Young went down fairly naturally (i.e. no delayed reaction). But the FA have the benefit of video, slow mo, time to send a message that we don't want people launching themselves to the floor..
