Happy days...... Oh, is that the Mackems languishing below us?

Can't remember Watson going in between the sticks but i do remember: Chris Hedworth/Peter Beardsley v West Ham - April 1986 Brian Tinnion v Blackpool - October 1987 Kevin Brock v Birmingham - November 1992 Amazingly we won two of those games... the least said about the West Ham game though, the better! Kevin Brock was badly concussed as well. Derek Wright was crouched behind the goal with smelling salts to revive him every now and then. He was taken to hospital after the game and had to stop in over night. Yep - IIRC he has no recollection of the game at all. The bit about staying in overnight isn't correct as he famously asked "do we have a game tonight?" on the coach on the way back home...

Not Ned's against Pompey?
-
Bernard. Can you not remember back as far as 2003 then?

Spurs and Man Utd for me. And it's nothing against you Danny lad, I've felt that ever since Gascoigne went there from us 20 years ago. The opening post about Liverpool cracks me up. Yes, they're not everyone's cup of tea - mine neither, despite the missus, but this season, you can't claim they're shite. Only team giving Chelsea a real run for their money.

GET THE FUCK IN!!!

Stays like this and we go above the Mackems... But still they'll go on about 2-1 FTM

I very much doubt that. Its common knowledge that drivers tell their mechanics after practice what needs changing in the car and have it set up accordingly! Who do you think sets it up like? His milkman? The driver has influence in the setup of the car, but all he is doing is providing feedback on the performance on the road. The engineers translate that into what needs changing on the car. I have a mate who used to work for the Jordan team and is now at Ilmor (Mercedes). I might send what you're suggesting over to him and see what he thinks. I guarantee his piss will be boiling at the thought that the driver is mainly responsible for the setup

I'm with you on this one.... When was the last time we had someone win 3 gold medals at an Olympic games? Hoy will get it IMO, Lewis will be up there and Adlington. Andy Murray will probably creep in too.
-
He's English, the others aren't.... I can't comment on how much both of these guys spoke to their relative national media - maybe it was the same, maybe it wasn't.

I was sitting in the East Stand paddock for most of Jim Smith's tenure and we used to have a straw poll each match on how many minutes it'd be before we saw him have a fucking fit and turn red with rage. Clearly visable from the other side of the pitch - he must have been a fucking nightmare in the dressing room!

Blackpool? Nah it was Brian Tinnion who played that one in to Gascoigne. Awesome ball. I'm guessing he's talking about the Southampton game - cheeky little chip over the back line, Mirandinha ran round the back, volleyed it and it hit both posts before being hacked clear. Crossed the line though.

I don't agree with that. Lewis had a dream of being WDC, his Dad had a dream of his son being WDC - both men have worked incredibly hard to achieve their goal so what is it so wrong for him to be over-joyed that he's achieved his goal? I think people are losing focus here - Anthony is not just Lewis' Dad who's jumped on the bandwagon. He's been his advisor, manager and alongside Ron Dennis, the closest person to him throughout his career. Not many 'parents of sports stars' have devoted as much of their lives to their son's dream as Anthony Hamilton has. I don't particularly like him as a person - but I think he's getting a fucking rough deal here... I'm not too bothered either way tbh but what you've said is what I think is slightly sad about the whole situation, it does appear that he's living vicariously through his son. From BBC Sport: On a par with Julian Jakobi (Senna) and Wili Weber (Schumacher) if you ask me. The only difference being of course is that Anthony is also Lewis' father.

Whenever I think of when Schumacher and Massa were team-mates, I think of this clip: And now I've got in my head the beginning of this clip:

Oh aye... what about when he punted Dave Beasant up the arse at the end of the cup defeat to Wimbledon - funny as fuck actually The goal he scored at SJP against Everton (bullet header from around the penalty spot at the Gallowgate end) was probably one of the best goals I saw around that time. Aye I remember that game I was on a barrier right in front of it, he scored after 10 seconds as well and it git disallowed for no reason at all. What I remember most is Everton were champions at the time, and their away support couldnt sell out a tiny corner of the Leazes nearest the now Milburn, you remember things like that when you're young and I've always considered them to be a club punching above their weight throughout the generations. I was in the Milburn paddocks that day, right in front of where that dirty little shite Adrian Heath was sent off... I remember the ball being in the net within a minute, but can't actually remember what the goal was like! Memorable season that one, him mentioning the Portsmouth away game reminded me of the rugby scrum that took place in the home fixture in front of the Gallowgate. Peter Jackson and Kevin Dillon given their marching orders IIRC.

Bramley, you're an absolute bastid for bringing this one up again - I'm a wreck each time I watch it man
-
Aye it was now you come to mention it - belting goal at the Leazes end about 4 minutes in. All the more sweeter as it broke the ice for Bracewell who had of course come to us from the Mackems....

Given Watson Albert Woodgate Pearce Gillespie Lee Ginola Beardsley Shearer Ferdinand
