  1. Maybe. Hopefully the Beeb will have a different policy. EDIT: Is Anthony Lewis's manager? He's known as his 'advisor' but probably does manage him too. I've actually seen a re-run of the post race events and first thing Anthony does say is "Comiserations to all the Massas"... That's hardly the words of someone being an arsehole.
  2. he won the championship this year with an inferior car to the Ferrari he had better pace than Alonso last year Alonso is far and away the best pound for pound driver on the current grid seems something of an exageration 'had better pace than Alonso last year' is an exageration - they finished equal on points and, had the FIA not got involved in what was quite clearly a team squabble in Hungary, Alonso would have beaten him. He didn't have better pace than Alonso, it was that he was expected to be destroyed by Alonso and when he wasn't, people assumed he must have had better pace. Suggesting that the McLaren is inferior to the Ferrari is ludicrous btw - the only advantage the Ferrari has is on tyre conservation. If you stuck them all in homogenised cars, Alonso would win IMO closely followed by the pack of Hamilton, Kubica, Vettel, Massa & Barrichello
  3. Didn't Ayrton call himself 'Senna' instead of 'da Silva' because he didn't want his disapproving mother finding out he was racing in his early years? According to Rubython's (although that bloke seems to run a bullshit factory) book, he chose to adopt his mother's name to be more unique. Da Silva is apparently as common as Smith or Jones in the UK.
  4. Speaking of which, we don't see much of John Button these days, do we? I suppose Felipe has his old man hanging around too and no doubt he plasters Brazilian TV with interviews. It's not always the fault of the person I suppose - ITV seem to enjoy shoving a camera in front of Anthony perhaps as they feel in doing so, they're not harassing Lewis.
  5. I think Anthony Hamilton said things in the heat of the moment with his emotions running wild. They really shouldn't have stuck the camera in front of him at that point but put yourself in his position. 100,000 people are booing your son - you're going to be be pissed off with it aren't you? Hamilton made some enemies in Japan with his move at the first bend. And rightly so in my opinion. His biggest problem is that Alonso can't stand him and I think far too many of the other drivers relate to (and therefore automatically seem to side with) Fernando.
  6. Agreed Dr Ken that he's not in the same breath as Ayrton. IIRC I think his mother banned him from racing between the deaths of Ayrton and his Dad up until Imola 2004 when Berger drove the circuit in Senna's old Lotus 97T with Viviane & Bruno in attendance. FWIW to further outline how he's living on his Uncle's famous surname, he shouldn't really be using it. In Brazil, the name of a child is made up from the two surnames of the parent. Ayrton's father was Milton da Silva and his mother was Neyde Senna. His name was Ayrton Senna da Silva. It is tradition for the mother's name to be dropped and the child just taken on the father's. Ayrton chose the opposite. Bruno is the son of Flavio Lalli and Viviane da Silva. Therefore his full name is Bruno Lalli da Silva. No 'Senna' in sight.
  7. Obama will walk it... and then I fully expect him to be assassinated as soon as he walks into Red-neck country. Between them and the KKK, they'll not accept a black President...
  8. I think this pic sums it all up perfectly....
  9. That puts an interesting perspective on it seing as Barrichello was Senna's (snr) protege. BTW did you notice Rubens had a yellow helmet today, was that some sort of tribute to Ayrton Senna? EDIT: just checked Getty Images and it was a Yellow/Red number so obviously not a tribute..
  10. Nope.... it's still pending but Gerhard has a soft spot for Bruno for obvious reasons.... The real racers think Pantano deserves the seat more and they're probably right. Thing is, if it does go Senna's way, I hope we hear none of this "i don't want to be known as Ayrton's nephew". It'll be for that very reason he gets the nod IMO. Very talented driver, not as passionate (but then who is really!) as Ayrton but worthy all the same.
  11. As dangerous as ever it would seem.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7704928.stm I did think driving into a brick wall at 56mph was fucking crazy...
  12. Glock lost 18 seconds to Hamilton on the last lap... I think it was HF who earlier said Hamilton did try to throw it away. On thr contrary, pitting 5 laps from the end is what won him the title. Had he stayed out on slicks, he'd have been way down the field by time he crossed the line and the title would have been most definitely Massa's... He's not the best racer in F1 (despite what Fat-boy Blundell would have you believe). Alonso is far and away the best pound for pound driver on the current grid. Hamilton though does have the best setup of all and in that, I include his family. F1's first 'manufacturered' WDC - be interesting to see if other teams follow McLaren's lead. Next year could see the return of the name Senna in F1. And I for one am looking forward to seeing Ayrton's nephew in a Torro Rosso.
  13. The right man won the title (just as last year actually as Raikkonen deserved it more than Hamilton in 2007). it should have been all academic really as Hamilton should have been WDC before the race started had it not been for the FIA and stewards in Belgium. Boy what a finish though
  14. Schumacher 1997. He tried to take himself and Villeneuve out of the race and therefore win the championship. He only partially damaged Villeneuve's car, which was fixed, and knackered his own. Villeneuve finished 3rd (I think), and won the title. He actually made no damage to Villeneuve's car. Schumacher was though out of the whole championship for that move though. FWIW, i think Alonso may have a say in all of this. Passionately hates McLaren (not necessarily just Hamilton) and at China went on record to say he hoped either Kubica or Massa won the title. Alonso is right behind Hamilton. He'd only have to be over zealous into turn one and Hamilton's race could well be over.
  15. You would think with the high powered telescopes, that would be easy to demonstrate. Although one of the many pieces of evidence against the moon landings is the lack of a blast crater under the lunar lander, many thousands of pounds of thrust used in the landing surely would have blown away the dusty surface of the moon, yet in any of the photographs taken by the astronaughts show a pristine flat surface. Correct-a-mundo - what's more, with very little atmosphere there would have been no gravity to disperse the dust-cloud that this thrust would have produced. They should have been walking around in conditions that resembled thick fog - instead, the visibility was perfect.
  16. tbf, the mirrors on the moon could have been sent by unmanned spacecraft but putting devil's advocate to one side, i know they weren't. Be interested to see if the lunar lander is actually there in the Sea of Tranquility though
  17. Sony Ericsson C905 is coming out - 8 meg camera on it - looks quite impressive, better than that C902 although not as thin IMO.
  18. As soon as I read "American with Italina name" I knew it had to be that mong-tard! Best thing Talksport ever did was getting rid of him - didn't realise the BBC had been so stupid like.
  19. League Cup game at Ayresome Park was the first time Watson did it.. and they were talking about it for ages. The sort of thing he use to reserve for odd occassions when the prize wasn't too massive I guess but I think he was the first to try it. Who they fuck is Steve Howie btw?
  20. trust me, you have to be able to play the banjo to play for most of those teams...... Reside alongside the Cahulawassee? Squeal boy, squeal like a pig. You're gonna do some praying for me boy... and you better pray good!

  22. How about doing your final bit of Christmas shopping on Tyneside young Danny?
  23. Walsham-le-Willows? Christ, does Evil Edna play for them?
  24. Interesting note at the top of .COM's page today...
