I know we've had threads similar to this one in the past - my turn now. I'm not one to go to the GPs with a cold - i try to avoid the place as much as possible and haven't actually been to one in 14 years. However, having constantly shit blood for the last fortnight, even my stubborness faded and last Thursday I paid them a visit and tell them of my issues. Given that my grandad had lower bowel cancer, my elder brother had a growth removed and my other brother is a sufferer of colitis and proctitis, there's no fucking around as far as this is concerned. Doctor didn't seem too fazed until I told him of the family history and also that I'm getting rid of mucous as well as blood. I'm in for blood tests on Thursday adn I have an appointment coming from an 'oscopy' of some sort (can't remember the exact one he said, think it's a proctoscopy but could be a colonoscopy). That's a camera up my jacksy if anyone's not aware... I would say I'm shitting it but that's perhaps not the best turn of phrase given the circumstances. A bit of a taboo subject and one people sometimes make fun of but there's no fucking around when it comes to areas such as this and the symptoms which could be indicative of something serious - hopefully it is something and nothing but if anyone else finds themselves in this situation - get it sorted ASAP!

Barnsely and Cardiff this season have shown that ANY team can have a chance of winning the cup. Yes but the universe NUFC are in would see the year we get the semis being drawn against Chelsea, with the winner getting either Man U or Arsenal. You should know this by now. Tsk tsk. This season was a freak, might be 20 years before one of the top 4 don't win it again (look at our recent finals, an in form Arsenal and a rampant Man U). I was just thinking it actually is 20 years since one of the 'usual suspects' (i.e. Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Man Utd) didn't win it when Wimbledon won but even they it was the Champions v a team that came about 7th or 8th iirc. I can't remember it ever being like this year though. Last time one of the 'top 4' wasn't in the semi-finals was 1987. Coventry, Spurs, Watford & Leeds back then. The Coventry v Leeds match was a classic IIRC.

There's been no 'mooted sympathy' for the woman, simply the few responses submitted to the thread have focused on the stupidity of the bloke rather than the result of his actions... As someone who rolled the dice in their youth and very nearly paid the ultimate price, I think I'm well positioned to know that 'getting away with it' makes it any less your fault. But it also leaves me well positioned to comment that it fucks you up big time and that is without the death of the person you love on your conscience. I dread to think what went through his mind but he needed help and lots of it.

Oh shush, if the pair of them had got drunk into a car (instead of a scalding bath) and driven off a cliff would there be all of this faux-bleeding hearts? Like I said sad, but entirely of their own making. Now do you disagree with that? (and as I said the sort of limp wristed do gooder pandering people think should occur here is about the last thing that could have saved the fella). The amusing part is there's no sympathy for the woman shot by her husband in that other thread. Hypocrites? Yup this place is FULL of them, but I'm not one of them. Who has disagreed with that? Answer is no-one... All people are trying to do is show some compassion. We all (yes Fop, even you!) do things from time to time that are stupid and ill-thought but we all do them in the knowledge that 'nothing will happen to us'. Still no less tragic when something does go wrong is it? Who knows how many times the pair of them had done that and all had been OK. People walk out in front of traffic without looking and and are killed every day - but i suppose they're not due any sympathy from the likes of you because they didn't look?

Have we just found ourselves a venue for the match in the summer?

Very sad few months for anyone known to those two... My heart goes out to them all. As for some comments on here made by a particular - what else needs to be said than, given previous form, such a bigotted view has to be expected. No-one is trying to apportion blame, they know where the blame lies but this bloke was obviously wracked with such a combination of heartbreak and guilt that he couldn't possibly go on... It was well known he was in a fragile state of mind (her mother had even said so prior to his disappearance) and Luke is right, he's been 'failed' by the lack of professional support and counselling. If certain people believe that that was undeserved on account of the fact they'd take an illegal substance then they are narrow-minded and most likely a raving hypocrite. Evidently no comprehension of what love means either...

Dalglish was a class footballer no one disputes that, but the other two, who I have put first and second, were the leading men and fundamental reasons their countries won World Cups. No disrespect to anyone on this thread, but some of the names that have been mentioned in front of Zidane and Matthaus, are utterly staggering. Maybe a lot of people are put off by the fact Zidane is so recent, but it would be interesting to know if Baggio rates himself as being better than Zidane. As for Matthaus, still playing for Germany at 40, adn still tehir best player, albeit in a shit side. Zidane lit the 1998 World Cup Final up, and Matthaus was simply unplayable for the majority of the 1990 World Cup, a 5-1 against Yugoslavia stands out. True proven World class and World Cup winners. Baggio pretty much carried Italy to the final of the '94 World Cup though. I'd say the same for Mattheus in 1990 tbh. The West Germany side was not as good as everyone made it out to be but the difference over the whole tournament was Mattheus for me...

I think we'll be in the mix with the likes of Pompey, Man City, Blackburn... A real bonus would be to challenge Everton for 5th..
