because it is THE single most important thing. The best manager in the world won't do anything without money. 84737 I re-iterate: No-one has questioned Shepherd's financial input. But: - Sacking Robson 2 days before the transfer window closes and without a contingency. - Bidding for Rooney with the money we got for Woodgate when we desperately needed a quality central defender - Appointing Souness have all had a detrimental effect on the fortunes of this club. Had he sacked Robson having properly planned a replacement (as Chelsea and Liverpool did), then we wouldn't have had to 'make-do' with Souness and I doubt very much we'd be in the position we are now... As I've said before, handing over the reddies is only a small part of the responsiblity of a club chairman and in him doing so, it doesn't excuse all the other fuck-ups (which far exceed the positives) he makes.
-
Wouldn't it have been more apt against a select XI of players he's played alongside over the years?
-
No-one's ever questioned Shepherd's backing of his managers.... It's everything else they question... Why do you focus on the only positive about Shepherd?
-
That's pretty much the top and bottom of it I'm afraid. 84659 Well which useless twat put that in his contract? 84671 Now, now.. we can't diss Freddy, after all he's the greatest chairman in the world simply on account of sticking his hand in his pocket....

Things are 20 times better than they were before Shepherd and the Halls mate. Before 1992 Jim Smith was our 8th EIGHTH choice of manager in 1988, even fuckwits such as Souness wouldn't have looked at us, all we were was a stepping stone for managers AND players, even Geordies. 84151 That my friend is very true, but as i only started supporting the Toon since Ossie was in charge as i was only bout 7 at the time i can't really state that, but when you look back it's clearly alot better with the club nearly going bust n such and it must have been shocking having to see the likes of Pedro, Waddle, Gazza all going onto pastures new 84194 that is true mate, and if you look at that and around at other chairman at other clubs we could do a lot lot worse than Shepherd in spite of his faults, for a start not many people would be prepared to put up the amount of money it would take to buy out Shepherd without wanting a say in the club and they couldn't do better regarding backing managers with cash, an area where Shepherd has excelled in. He has only appointed one manager that supporters generally weren't happy with, and even then some backed him as we have seen on this message board. 84304 .....couldnt resist! Basically the cash should have been made available whoever was in charge cos it's been there to dole out. Some Chairmen might not have but that doesnt make FF God Almighty for having actually done it. Re everything else, he's a PR disaster who brings the club into disrepute and brings standards down generally. He makes us look like a laughing stock with his soundbites and undermines the managers that he does bring in in the process. He's weak in all the areas where you need a chairman to be strong. 84307 2001-02 In Out ========= === Quinn 800,000 Beherall 150,000 O’Brien 2,000,000 Bellamy 6,000,000 Robert 9,500,000 Jenas 5,000,000 2002 – 03 In Out ========= === Bramble 5,000,000 Green 150,000 Viana 8,500,000 Woodgate 9,000,000 Amrose 1,000,000 2003 – 04 In Out ========= === Nil Cort 2,000,000 Solano 1,500,000 2004 – 05 In Out ========= === Milner 5,000,000 Lua Lua 1,750,000 Butt 2,500,000 Speed 750,000 Carr 2,000,000 Woodgate 13,000,000 Souness In Souness Out ======== ========== Boumsong 8,000,000 Bellamy 4,500,000 Faye 2,000,000 O’Brien 1,500,000 Parker 6,000,000 Hughes 1,500,000 Emre 4,000,000 Jenas 7,000,000 Owen 16,000,000 Luque 9,500,000 42m out and 300,000 in before summer 2003, and you think we should have shelled out more millions.......get real 84347 Erm.....no. I dont believe I said that either. you said, "Basically the cash should have been made available" He said the money should have been made available whoever was in charge, meaning that if it was Souness, Keegan, Hitzfeld or whoever, Shepherd still had a right to provide the dough that he did.. He's never once said he's never provided adequate funds - read the post FFS Leazes....

We know, you expel enough of the stuff on here tbh

maybe its Leroy resenoir? He's out of work as of today, having left Torquay united by mutual consent with the chairman One of the people where i work came running up to my office saying, your managers gone....he's gone.....i assumed he meant GS, but sadly no, he meant Leroy 84425 I'm surprised you didn't pick up the letter-opener and stab the fucker to death for that comment...

I love the way they say the knives are still out, suggesting that they're ever likely to go back in again....

A bigger man would hold up his hands and resign. Resignations happen all the time, even Gullit and politicians manage it occasionally! Souness is a rich man who doesn't need the money. He says he cares about his family - I fail to see how they can benefit from having a father or husband who is easily the most hated man in Newcastle. Souness has a heart condition - how can this mess be good for his health? No, he has no shame or dignity, he is an evil money-grabbing greedy cunt who is shafting all the fans. 83720 The money - whether earned over the remainder of his contract, or paid in a lump sum when he's sacked - could set his kid's kid's kids up. And this is his last chance to earn that sort of money. He would be an idiot to resign and pass up on it IMO. 83727 So Gullit was an idiot rather than someone who decided to do something honourable for once in his sorry reign at Newcastle was he? I never thought I'd praise Gullit but he is a far superior person than Souness it would seem. Souness has finally shown what motivates him and what type of person he really is. If I was in his position I would resign with some dignity rather than take this club to the wall, and I sincerely mean that. Obviously these values don't count for much any more though. 83735 Given the position he is in, if you were in his shoes Renton, would you pass up the chance to pocket £3m by being "the big man" and resigning?? Of course you wouldn't! Souness is totally shite - agreed, but you can't have a go at him for not resigning, as someone else said - it's Shepherd's mess!

Uneasy truce breaks out with Souness staying put

That's ketchup, not sauce...! -
Wish I could work out who you are 83653 Think of a cheap lager favoured by winos!

Nowt to do with Sammy then... 83662 He's my nephew. I should hope not like..... 83664 That minor detail hadn't escaped my sight...

http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/ You want a real bite, try over there... Mind you, I think even they're to old for the likes of you...
-
It's a fucking joke, FS needs to stick his hand in his pocket, pay him off and admit he got it wrong. Because pride takes over, we all suffer as a consequence!
-
Anyone get past that bit? 83501 I started rolling my eyes as soon as I did... I hear Leazes is doing a recruitment drive to get people to go over to his howaythetoon forum - perhaps you'd be interested if you hate the people here so much?
-
I noticed there was no mention of: Gaz P Writer Newcastle-Online Has he been fired?
-
I was about to commend them for getting their name in the Ronny Gill until I remembered that the name of one of the authors was familiar....

It was the FatMan who made the choice in the first place. He's as incompetant and as guilty as anyone else at that club. We'll never win anything with unstability and with these fools in charge will never have stability. He's looking for a scapegoat, but he should go too. 83215 Shepherd was panicked into a rush appointment, he should have sacked Bobby during the close season and took time to appoint a proper manager but he didnt, he stuck by Bobby and could tell early on it was a wrong move so he made a bold decision which backfired. To say he should go just because of Souness is, well quite frankly laughable. 83220 I agree, considering the vast majority of fans were happy with the 3 managers before him , but appear to have forgotten this 83351 It's not just the appointment of Souness though, is it? There are other decisions he's made (outlined in another thread) which have undeniably contributed to the reverse of this club's fortunes...

16 months ago, the thought of Venables managing NUFC was akin to the end of the world in a lot of people's opinions. Now a lot seem to want him - frightening how low our expectations have dropped...
-
The only reason it's looking a lot more healthy is because it's being exposed to more horse-shit that it has in previous seasons tbh....
-
OK - Lets pretend the Fat Freddie sacks Souness in

The thought of Pleat 'dancing' across the pitch after saving us from relegation on the last day of the season is gonna give me nightmares tbh -
I bet you've actually expanded since last we saw you, slim. 83079 lost weight bucko... whereas it sounds like you're stocking up for the summer... 83118 I don't know how you dare! People can take the mick out of me and that, but you actually ARE a proper big fat bloke these days. With lovely chubby cheeks. 83233 And as a student as well - just imagine what he'll be like when he's actually working for a living
