Possibly.... But then KK had no interest in Newcastle's reserves playing at SJP and promptly abandoned the reserve team meaning that all the decent kids who were on the fringe, pissed off to other clubs.... But then KK was god, wasn't he?? 35285 Deliver KK standard football, entertainment and results, get us into europe and finish 2nd in the premiership and Souness can happilly ignore the academy as long as he likes. Get results and produce the football we all love and you can get away with other things, its always been that way and always will. 35328 Only KK dissolved the youth structure at the club and then walked away.... Granted, he did produce attractive football, but I would have given that up for actual success and longetivity rather than the short term 'Entertainers' we had... Keegan planned for the short-term with a very expensive gamble. Had we won the league, the money would have rolled in, as would the world-class players to continue the trend. The money would also have paid for Alan Shearer rather than us having to sell quite a proportion of our assets to satisfy the bank. Hence why in the summer of 1997, Dalglish was left with a thinning squad, little money in the bank and sadly, some cruical injuries. Hence why we ended up signing the likes of Pearce, Barnes & Rush.... Whether you accept it was the gamble was the right thing to do at the time, what we all have to accept is that the particular gamble KK took sent us back years in terms of youth development.

If what he inherited was 'worthy' of finishing where you say it was, then why did Fat Fred find the need to sack SBR in the first place... I think you'll find the club was already in rapid decline before Souness took over....and the dressing room had been well and truly lost!

*cue the "but you're still a couple of months older than me and always will be" type of response

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. If you are talking about final league position, then I would say, considering the money he has spent, 4th place or higher must be achieved. I'll be amazed if that happens like. 35110 Substitute "amazed" for gutted. 35151 Gemmill, to be honest all that deserve is a FUCK OFF. I want the best for NUFC the same as everyone else, I just don't rate this manager like you do. You have now really, really pissed me off. 35176 You running yet Gemmill??

Surely you're not suggesting that he wants us to lose to 'spite' Souness, are you Scott??
-
A very happy birthday to you sir..... Shame your shite Cricket team couldn't muster up an early birthday present last week but never mind, eh? Many happy returns Steve.

Poor bugger, it was the way he moved towards the camera, shaking his head at it whilst trying to cooly chew his gum. Still... 35124 Fucking hell! Someone wants to have a word with the parents, the fat little bastard has obviously spent far too much time in Greggs! And what's the kid over his left shoulder just seen?

There's more chance Souness had heard of him than Bobby though! -

Firts half he was beyond shite as usual, no control, no passing, noi brains, no positioning and no ability to tackle or head the ball. Second half he had a few good moments, doesn't diguise the fact anybody who picks him is a moron. A young kid on the wing and Bowyer in the middle was the answer as it happens he got away with picking a liability in Faye this time. 34760 Amazing how people see things different. I thought Bowyer was absolute dross compared to Faye, but of course it's fashionable to give Faye stick isn't it, as Souness bought him. 35055 Souness also bought Parker, Emre, Owen, Luque & Solano so I guess they're all in for a hard time too..... Poor Nobby, he'll probably regret coming back now! -
If we end up with 3 points at the end of a match, I couldn't give a rats arse who's in charge.... I'm certainly not bothered that for 2/3 of the game yesterday, some would consider our performance below standard. As someone else pointed out: We won comfortably at a ground where we've never won in the Premiership before, with all of our first choice midfield unavailable and playing the last quarter of the match with only 10 men! THAT to me is more than acceptable....

The clip was show right at the very end just before the credits....

Erm.... Because you're actually querying a computer and not a human being?? Jesus Wept Rob, a database can only return data on a specific query that has to follow logic. What's not simple about that code?? Do you class foreign languages 'nerdy' as well?? Try saying "I want Newcastle United league position" to a Mongolian goat herder, I'm sure you'd get a similar blank response...

We need to see more footage then!

If any of you watched MOTD2 you'll know who I'm on about. Didn't look overly chuffed, did she?? Perhaps she wanted us to lose...
-
There's only 3 IMO.... Steve Bruce David O'Leary Alan Shearer
-
Baring in mind what you said PL, do you offer Souness even a modicum of credit for today's win?? After all, in your own words: "they are far and away the most important person at the club and ultimately deserve most of the credit or blame"
-
Errr.... you can! SELECT * FROM table_premiership WHERE table_premiership.team_name = 'Newcastle United'; Is about as normal English as you're gonna get in database syntax. You want a difficult database language, have a crack at UML or PROGRESS.... you'll soon find SQL a doddle...

I remember first chatting to ShearerM4 (as he was known then) on soccergaming.tv. Legend even then. 34575 ah good old SG! still post pretty often over there ... but it's starting to feel like it's full of kids ... or maybe i'm getting old for it now 34623 I stopped posting because I felt like I was constantly getting into arguements with a bunch of 11 year old wankers who've had all the vowels knicked off their keyboard. 34642 You should respect your elders you know Skol!

I'm no fan of Souness and would in the grand scheme of things, like to see him replaced, but..... There seems to be a pattern amongst some people on here which despite my misgivings of his ability of a manager, I think is unwarranted. Some of you seem to think that: 1. If we lose, it's purely Souness' fault and the players are 'generally' absolved of blame due to his mis-management. 2. If we win, it's got nothing to do with Souness and is a result that the players have crafted out off their own backs. Shouldn't be like that - we win together and we lose together. If we lose, the manager and the players should take the flak and if we win, the players and the manager should be praised... If people are being selective as outlined above, then it's beginning to get personal and not a judge of his professional abilities...
-
Should Souness go this season, I have no doubt that the next manager will be one of three people: Steve Bruce David O'Leary Alan Shearer Can't see Allardyce coming here, he didn't want it 12 months ago when we were in a considerably better situation and Bolton weren't in Europe so why would he come now?? Pearce is making his mark at Citeh - he'll not come here..
-
The common 'word' in a lot of your posts is "hope".... Sadly, that's all we can do. We can 'hope' that he is replaced, but I doubt he will be. As people have said, they think he should have gone at various points during last season, during the summer and during the start of this season....he wasn't, and what's to suggest that Fat Fred is suddenly gonna change his mind now?? I'd like him replaced now, but I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if he's still in charge for the last game of the season.
-
Still think he'll be here in May.... We may want him gone sooner, just don't think it's going to happen - still think he's playing a holding role until 'someone' retires from playing....

This is 24 hours later: Not impressed Cath. These eye drops are a sham. 33883 Fucking hell, you're slightly (very slightly) bloodshot, you soft shite. Conjunctivitis my arse. You're turning into a proper soft southerner. 33900 Let us not forget......Southampton in the middle of one of the hottest July's on record was, in the words of Mr Halliwell, "fucking freezing!"
