Very true, when on the pitch he gives everything and brings a pace and threat we lack without him at times. Also last season before his injury he was instrumental in any good performances we had and we suffered when he was out. He'd be a big asset to the team if he played like that again and for a good run of games and its beyond dispute that we have missed him. I hope he gets fit and stays here for a good long while. But i can understand why people are pissed off at him practically not playing at all this season and think he should be sold. Though if you're injured you're injured, i'm not one of these people who thinks players are feigning innury or just don't care, they love playing football like we all would, so why bother missing out on games on purpose?
-
I have no idea, and with this club and injuries/information released it could be anything from 1 day to a month!!! Its a partnership that like any other would need time to gel, but mainly it comes down to CB being such a cruical position you can't play somebody who is totally out of form/confidence, its too big a risk.
-
He certainly was. I'm not one of the fans who think he is shite, i think he is currently playing shite. My problem is when Bramble is fit we all know it should be him and Taylor on current form who play, but when it comes down to it, it will be a case of: Boom - Bought by Souness for £8m Bramble - Cost money but not by Souness Taylor - Kid who cost nowt Who here thinks Boom will be the one dropped, because i don't. I think he'll either not bring Bramble back in or will drop Taylor. Or more likely Taylor will miss 1 game due to 5 yellow cards and Bramble will return and Taylor will then be out the team. And this isn't an anti-souness rant, its something that applies to many managers who favour their big signings regardless of form.

surely it's a an ironic chant more designed to wind up the mackems? i don't think many people who were singing actually thought it was easy. it wasn't - it was a close game, but i sure would have joined in if i'd been at the ground. it's pure wind up fodder. 48847 I know what you mean, there would have been a mix of the two, some fans knowing it was far from easy and others just the genuinely thick kind of people! Either way though i think it makes us look pretty stupid as you can guarentee people watchign it aren't saying "Oh look at those Newcastle fans ironically chanting at their SAFC counterparts, how very witty!"
-
People have argued whether the chant is just embrassing or whether its "better than nowt" and thats up to the individual's choice. But, the simple fact is it makes you (and indeed all of us) lookin a bit thick when you do it at 1-0 in a tight game, (and pay for it), then mornically do it again at 2-1 (and pay for it again!) only to do it again at the end of a game we just managed to win. Wait till we ever manage to be 3 or 4 goals up ina game before doign that chant when it'll make sense.

First half it was good until their second goal went in. Then it was back to normal until the mongs decided it had been 'easy' 48742 Thats about right. Atmosphere started as you'd expect for a derby and was good in the first half, then quiet at 2-2, and second half was far too quiet untill Emre scored when it picked up again.

On the subject of booing players, the "supporters" who booed Faye ont the pitch would do everyone a favour if they fucked off out of St. James and never came back. The bloke is crap at football, we all know that, but he gives everything and it isn't his fault the manager picks him. Booing him onto the pitch is really going to lift him isn't it, we really do have some complete cocks in the ground.

Its performances like this that make him more annoying because it shows he can do it!!! I've never been one of the people who think he is outright shite as a player, i've always thought he had ability but was inconsistent, then that turned into being consistently poor for soem reason. What i epxect from him is that level of effort, committment and agression both on and off the ball and he's shown he can do it so there's no excuse for not repeating it. I don't expect two goals a game from him, but the rest of that performance should be repeated more often.

given 7 - Couldn't do anything with the goals carr 7.5 - Had a good solid game and got forward boumsong 4 - Had no physical presence at all taylor 8.5 - Outstanding and saved a certain goal ramage 7.5 - For a CB at LB ina derby he was excellent solano 7.5 - Great start then understandably tired emre 9 - Pure class, great goal parker 8 - Gets everywhere even when injured nzogbia 7 - Did a good job shearer 5 - A poor game to be fair ameobi 8 - Excellent after a slow start and needs to do this all the time

They really are both hilarious and truly sad over on the smb! You'd think they'd played like Brazil and we'd played like well, like Sunderland from their descriptions. We were better first half and they scored from their only two shits at goal. Second half they probably did edge it but we did the thing that actually matters in football, we scored the goal. And some of them are even blaming the ref, when he actually had an outstanding match. He booked players straight away when required and their two were for shocking tackles and he let the rest of the game flow by letting people battle with each other for headers and the like.

It was so precdictable, i mean everyone i talked to and myself as well thought, bound to be a 5 goal thriller with Shola getting a couple!
-
Shola's best game in god knows how long! I don't expect him to score 2 every game but i do expect that level of affort, aggression and awareness from him every game and so he needs to show it in future. Boumsong was abysmal and got knoced aside and brushed off the ball by everyone he went near, whereas Taylor was outstanding, covered for Boom, won everything, threw himself in the wya of things and made the goal line clearance. Shearer had a poor game, but he hasn't looked good unless Owen plays this season. Ramage as a CB playing in a derby at LB deserves alot of credit and should keep his place. Emre is pure class and changes our team and Nobby also made a big difference before understandably tiring.

As has been said on here, even if he was a raging alcoholic if he is doing the job he is paid to do and getting the results he is employed to get then who gives a flying fuck other than a complete prude or a self important, self appointed moral guaridan to the masses. And that's if he is drinking, yet there is no real evidence to suggest he even is and his perfomance as a manger implies he isn't affected by however much he does drink, so there isn't an issue. If he was getting results i'd have Hitler as manager -
As somebody said a draw is a win for the mackems and is totally unacceptable for us whatever team we put out there. However i don't think for a moment Souness will lose his job whatever the result is.
-
Remember what happened to the last manager who thought it would be a good idea to drop Shearer in favour of a younger striker for the mackem game! Seriously though, whilst i think Shearer is on his way out the idea of facing the mackems with Shola up front on his own carrying the goal scoring responsibility is enough to drive fans to insanity. This is Big Al's last crack at the mackems at St. James and who knows may end up as his last ever derby, he will be s fired up and read to give it everything for the las chance he has against them. I can't believe people would rather go into battle against the mackems with Shola on his own!

Judas on a jetski! -
He did work under Keegan and its noticeable that whilst we got some crap luck with key injuries we didn't have half our team out with hamstring strains and thig injuries etc. Also Keegans team were always fit enough to be playing well for 90 mins, not looking jaded second half and incapable of fighting back. He did have his own methods and choices he makes and is actually writing a paper on it, but unless we employ him we won't see the benefits of it.
-
Its getting beyond a joke now! In the chronicle there was a very interesting article by Steve Black about fitness, soft tissue muscle injuries and the like and he pointed out that the Falcons (who he works for) using his techniques have the lowest number of these injuries of teams in pretty much any sport! They haven't had any for months.

Taylor was exposed becase Boumsong got pulled out following the other striker and failed to make the tackle.. then when the ball was played through to Roberts there was onle Taylor in place of where there should have been two defenders. If Boumsong gets dragged out like that then either Parker and Faye should immediatly fill in that gap...That however is tactics.. and up to Souness get that working. 47101 Yes, i fail to see how Taylor was supposed to go and tackle the man with the ball AND drop off and mark the player who was passed to, if he could do that then he would be the greatest defender on the planet.
-
He's also on some sort of mind bending acid trips when he claims he could replace Shearer and go to the world cup with England!
-
if he scored a goal he may shows us that t shirt again 46889 Not knowing who will be fit/playing for the derby at their place i really want Clarkie and Big Al to have a big say in us winning this one as it may be their last chance, certainly last chance at St. James' Park and Big Al still owes them for the penalty miss they cream themselves over to this day!
-
You do wonder who will get injured in the short time till we play them, but theres bound to be somebody! If we can get onto the pitch with Emre and Owen fit i'll be pretty happy as they just do not have players anything like those two and they could be the difference if the rest of the team match the mackems workrate, commitment and lets be honest, fouling!
