1. The injuries situation is a mix of things. Theres the training pitch they have identified, theres the obviously poor coaching/training and fitness work at this club, theres the manager rushing players back and crocking them far worse, and finally there is the traditional NUFC shitty bad luck. We sign Nobby he hasn't played at all, Luque arrives and gets a bad injury almost at once, these things aren't the manager/coaches fault, nor was Owen's dead leg and things like that. What is a problem that we all knew would be is that if you kick Bellamy and Kluivert out the club you'd better have a better plan than relying on Shola and Chopra to fill in when Owen gets a knock. If two strikers of that calibre go out i expect two to come in, three ideally with Shearer coming to an end. If the injuries clear up we'll be better obviously, but come January a striker has to be bought or every time Owen misses a game we are going to worry!
2. No matter how many players we have injured and whoever we have to chuck out there at the moment, when i see Owen's name on the team sheet it makes an almighty difference, he is just that good, makes that much difference to our play and mood and is that reliable a goal threat. However he does need some help from whichever midfilders are out there and also the tactics that are employed and Wigan away is no easy game. I hope Emre gets a run out and is ready for the mackems and also that we can get Nobby back for the derby match, i want to see that shower facing Owen, Emre and Nobby with Big Al in his last home derby against them and maybe Clarkie making an appearnce at some point as he would love to turn them over.
3. Brasseye special - the most complained about TV show on UK TV IIRC 45791 Wasn't The Day Today the first appearence of Partridge too? 45793 Yep, he's brilliant on it aswell. "SHIT! Did you see that?!" 45795 "Twat...that was liquid football!" Funnilly enough i have just been a doing a mini chris Morris-athon as it were watching Day today, Jam and brass eye dvd's. Jam has some great stuf in there but also some isn't as good or doesn't work as well, though the extras has something great on. It takes two of the disturbing, offensive scenes and plays a sterotypical canned laughter track over the top with big laughs and even applause on the really sick lines, and it worls fantastically! Agree with people about Nathan Barley, it was alright but nothing special.
4. For those that know what a "dirty Sanchez" actually is, that site has a few new variations including a "Dirty Adolf" and a "dirty Bepe"!!!
5. I think its all answered here 45642 I had every faith that you would know the answer Jimbo!
6. We really have got to get Emre back in the team, his intelligence, footballing brain and ability on the ball (as with Nobby) improves the whole teams performance. By the time the mackems arrive i want some of our players back to give them the beating they deserve.
7. Q. Who would you most like to be bummed by A. Alf Ramsey's porn dungeon
8. Newcastle Team(s) affecting us, ie our rivals for the title (long time ago!), CL or uefa qualification Mackems
9. Boring to have to say it again but Souness is replacing the sooon to retire Shearer with Owen and i totally agree with him on that decision, currently he hasn't replaced Bellamy (and Kluivert for that matter) and will have to replace Bellamy in January.
10. - 913,000 tickets went to open sale - 191,000 tickets went to the "FIFA family" i.e. associations not taking part (like Australia) - 440,00 tickets went to special guests, media and have been reserved as security contingency - 555,000 tickets went to sponsors and commercial partners - 389,000 tickets went to the German football association - 347,000 went to VIPs and boxes - 468,000 tickets go to the participating associations - 64,000 tickets go the the media rights holders Who needs football fans in the stadium, eh... 44565 Its like the fA cup final, make sure everyone "important" gets a ticket then maybe give a few tickets to the two teams who are playing!
11. Q. How much does Luckyluke charge for "Full sex" A. Shatner's Basoon
12. It will be as IMDB has him as being in the cast.
13. It is true about Fergie and his results. Even on the few occasions he's sold a player for petulent reasons (and he has done it more than once) he can sit back and say look at the trophies i won you after making that decision, at which point the fans won't give a toss who he got rid of or why.
14. I read somewhere that the two teams actually playing in each match only get 8% of the capacity each, its taking the fecking piss, and leads to thousands being ripped off on the black market, lack of segregation and more potential for trouble.
15. World class is oversued a bit these days on players who aren't, but then there are people at the other end who go way over the top and state there is only about 11 world class players or something. Nobody can say exactly what it means as its a very vague term, but there are plenty of players about who can be called world class. Its when the term legend or genius is used that you have to keep it to a VERY select bunch. So for me England have got some world class players, the likes of Campbell, Ferdinand, Terry, Gerrard, Lampard, Beckham, Owen, Rooney, when at their best would all fit well into the top teams at club and international levels. Then there's Ashley Cole who may be a cock but theres not many better LB's and Gary Neville is a top class RB even if some people deny it. And Robinson may not yet be world class but i think he will be.
16. Why all of a sudden do you think they should change the rule? Why not mention it, say last week or last month? 44249 Because nobody started threads on it and nobody was debating it and i don't really give that much of a shit about it, but since the issue was raised i put in my opinion, as is custom on message boards as far as i was aware. There has to be a high profile incident to get these things talked about and this one happened to be Beckham. But since i now know how it works i'll try to comment on every single issue that could possibly ever occur in football now so that you'll be happy i wasn't just raising it when it involves England sometime in the future.
17. That will just open up for people to appeal against cumulative yellows that lead to suspensions. Just because an England player got sent off you are demanding for the rule to be changed, get over it. 44241 Interesting as i think you'll find i never once mentioned Beckhams red card at all, but if you have a chip on your shoulder about England qualifying for the world cup whilst Scotland didn't you should learn to live with it, as it'll happen again.
18. It is a sensible rule that you appeal against red cards and not yellows, because as has been said you could have 3 appeals for every match! However the grey area arrives when you get a red card for two yellows and here i think if one or maybe even both yellows are dodgy you should be able to appeal against the red card.
19. Fred doesn't really even need to say it, this club with the money we spend and the players we have has to qualify for europe or its failure, no question. Ideally it should be qualifying for the CL but the uefa is a minimum.
20. It contributed to us losing that lead, there were other reasons so I don't blame him for that. Over the time he was with us, he was largely a waste of space. Most of his best performances were in europe. In the premiership he was largely shite, he scored some goals, but so did Kluivert - admittedly he wasn't as shite as Kluivert though. And yes, the Barcelona night was his golden moment. I realise I'm in the minority on this one, but I just like footballers who produce the goods on the pitch, not just flamboyance when they feel like it. Sorry mate. 43377 I don't blame him at all for the title loss as that was down to Schmeichel, Cantona and prem refs being in Fergies back pocket, Tino had nowt to do with that. But overall whilst he entertained at times, he went missing, was too greedy and didn't pass when he should and didn't get the goals and assists that win matches tha he should have done. In the prem his record really wasn't good enough and thats what it comes down to. So he's worth remembering for Barca and some other great moments and goals, but had we say signed someone like Bergkamp instead of him we'd have won trophies from his consistent delivery when it counts.
21. As has been said RIP to a genuine comedy legend. He was one of the best ever comedy actors in sitcom or sketch based comedy and matched that with his comedy writing something most can't achieve. A good point was made in the tribute programme that Laurence Olivier said Ronnie was one of his favourite actors, not comedy actors. Its a disgrace the amount of snobbery about that denegrates comedy actors and never allows them the same credit as dramatic actors. The simple fact is the great comedy actors can do everything the dramatic actor does but also have comic timing and make you laugh.
22. I think they can get close but win it?? Maybe if Argentina knock out Brazil in the semis! However, I will say it one last time: In my opinion, the last World Cup and European Championships were there for the taking and a manager with a bit more ambition would have won it for England. But....as they say. 42616 If the key players are fit and in form England could win it. They have the crucial spine of the team in Robinson, soem top class CB's, Gerrard/Lampard and Owen with Rooney providing genuine flair and world class talent, even if he is a cock. I agree with you though, a better maanger than Sven could have won either or both of those tournaments.
23. If thats true and they actually play our proper first team then everyone connected with our club should be shot with shit quite frankly. We get injuries in matches, we get them in training, we get them in pre-match warm ups and from internationals, do we really want to add games against celebs to tha list?
24. Sven is pretty useless at times. Some of the players he picks in his squad, his persistence with the likes of Heskey and James who from day one were never international class yet after about 40 games he still can't tell that!!! His inability to ever drop certain players, even if they are playing shite and have a broken leg he'd still pick his top players. He is going to go to the world cup (most likely) with a group of players who seriously can win it but won't with him in charge.
25. I hope its right that we are after another striker, because as has been shown, when Owen is out we are woefully short up front.
