  1. Lefties in general love knocking Israel while giving Muslims a bit of an easy ride - I think because they see right wing anti-muslim feeling as something to be opposed. I on the other hand see religious fuckwittery on both sides which I have no respect for so tend to call cuntery on both sides (or at least I try to). yeah, that's what i'm getting at. i'm a liberal but i find it ironic that israel is always the bad guy and a lot of the arab nations - and the islamofascists within them - get an easy ride by many lefties that don't want to come across like they read the daily mail. Classic strawman stuff tbh. Avoiding the issue at hand. well, i've already said many times in this thread that i'm no israel apologist - i'm as critical as the likud's policies as anyone. but i do find the somewhat hysterical response to some of israel's actions to be overdone, especially the latest incident with the flotilla. israel is a sovereign state, a civilised western democracy and quite the opposite to many of the states that surround it that for some reason the left in the uk often sympathise with. I sympathise with the people of Palestine and what is being done to them in the name of Israeli 'security'. I don't sympathise with states such Iran, Syria, Egypt etc. You don't seem to be able to recognise the difference between the two.
  2. The uproar is so vociferous because Israel is able to act with impunity. If it got its wrist slapped properly once in a while then you wouldn't see such an outpouring of anti Israel sentiment. When people see that absolutely bugger all is being done yet again by the international community the next time they accidently murder a handful of civvies the shouts will be louder still. In the grand scheme of things uproar means little. Other pariah states rightly have much more to worry about than angry members of the public.
  3. I was under the impression it did that already? I mean, if you answer your phone the web page or text is still there, right? I can't imagine doing both at the same time........... I think it's more to do with third party applications. For example at the moment if I'm using WunderRadio and I get a text message I have to exit the application completely to reply to the text message, which isn't too good if I'm trying to listen to the radio. The same goes for most other applications, you can't pause a game and get back on with it once you've finished chatting on the phone.
  4. It's so you don't need to close apps down completely to do certain things like answer your phone or reply to a text message.
  5. I don't really see much to get cock in hand about, video calling has been around for years and isn't a very effective way of calling someone. That said as I've got an iPhone already and my contract runs out very soon I'll probably upgrade.
  6. Fight or flight, innit bruv. Fight and you're a supporter of al Qaeda, member of Hamas and Jew hater, flight and you get your head bagged and the shit kicked out of you by the IDF.
  7. Interesting to contrast these two views. Rocket attacks rarely kill more than single figures. More often than not nobody is killed. It's difficult to remember when the Israeli response to them has been measured, diplomatic condemnation though, it's guaranteed to be heavy-handed, military and fatal. Which you seem to be suggesting is appropriate, given the fear they create. Terrible as they are, I think mitigation comes from them being fired from occupied territory engaged in resistance. However, here we have Israel killing 9 people in international waters in what amounts (according to the lawyers) to an act of war against Turkey, and you think the measured, diplomatic condemnation and calls for an investigation (that have already been rejected by Israel and the US...and therefore the UN) is "massively overblown". i'm not disputing that. when the israelis attack the palestinians the casualties are almost always vastly higher than vice versa. but that doesn't mean rocket attacks aren't dangerous. i wouldn't fancy it if people were firing them into england from wales. my family in israel live in constant danger - they don't fear for their lives because that threat is part of every day life over there and they become used to it. you never know when the next sucide bomber is going to attack. that said, the wall - though widely condemned - has made a big difference in reducing the number of suicide bombings in israel. but i repeat, the idf were blatantly attacked as they landed on the boat - see earlier photo and video evidence in thread. did they over-react? when you look at the casualties you would have to say yes. but there had to be a reaction. the 5 other ships all followed the idf instructions to dock so the aid could be checked and safely transported by israeli military. there would have been no casualties if the 6th boat had done likewise. Chicken and the egg scenario. Sounds very much like live ammunition and apparently non-lethal weapons were used prior to boarding the boat, leaving some dead and injured. If that is the case it's no surprise that when the commandos dropped down from their helicopters they're set about by a bunch of extremely angry and scared civvies.
  8. Fuck me sideways. It genuinely infuriates me when I hear people say Israel get unfair treatment, I've never known a nation given carte blanche to act the dick like it has. As an aside I'd love to twat that Mark Regev
  9. you assume that they are competent - the reord shows that while Israel can deploy massive force and kill people (even in Dubai) it backfires on them because there is never any sense of proportion It's the equivalent of the Glaswegian "Who you lookin' at Jimmie?" no, i agree that they often get it wrong. my point is that they over-reacted but it they were provoked. many on here think the international media is biased towards the israeli cause. i think these days the opposite is true. there are two sides to this story Hardly. Israel still gets away with murder ('scuse the pun) and the western media continue to let them. The news reports don't focus on the murdered, which could number over a dozen, but instead the "PR disaster for Israel" as if it was a marketing campaign gone wrong. The dead have almost been pushed to one side.
  10. The more I read about this incident the more confused I get. Israel say they entered a ship full of known Hamas supporters and fanatical Muslim with only paintball guns? And I thought the IDF were well trained.
  11. Red Bull have conducted themselves awfully, almost as bad as Ferrari when they were at their worst. Letting your guys race is one thing but it looked to me like they were dabbling in team orders. In the footage of Horner on the pit wall it looked very much like he was saying "move over" and the fact he's pinning the blame on Webber, who wasn't at all at fault for the incident, takes the piss. I've heard a few journos say Red Bull have been awful to deal with this season, mechanics accusing photographers of taking spy shots of their car etc. I can't stand the Red Bull sporting family which seems to buy its way to the top and this just adds to it. I used to like Vettel but he's such a pain in the arse nowadays. When he gets pole he wags his finger and cheers like he's just won the bloody WDC and when he doesn't he has a face like a smacked backside. I hope Webber shows him up.
  12. Threads like this just serve to remind me what a dull cunt Leazes is. It can't be long now before he's put in a home or, God willing, shipped off to Dignitas.
  13. I can see why some are annoyed, it's basically a cynical attempt to curry favour, but as far as statements go lets just thank God he isn't announcing to the world he's trying to sell us on Gumtree or eBay.
  14. I know this is the latest in a trio of baffling public statements but it's easily the best bit of PR out of the three. Clearly that Wendy Taylor lass is already earning her corn. It'll win the club (and Ashley, unfortunately) a lot of fans for doing nothing more than enforcing a ban that was already in place and tapping into the public outrage. Just look at RTG: http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=497350 The majority seem mildly impressed
  15. When is out, and has this been officially confirmed? It will probably be officially announced at the annual Apple WWDC even on June the 7th. This, so it will be out around June July time if it doesn't get released at the same time as the WWDC event. Rumours are going around that it maybe available in White aswell, and I'm not on about just a white back like the current 3GS has. I saw an image a few days ago of it in a variety of colours - white, black, green, blue etc.
  16. My contract should run out pretty much spot on the release of the 4G. I'm cock in hand about it.
  17. I've sent the daft cunt a rather stern email. Any reply will be posted here.
  18. Puma have got a thing with putting boxes around the club crests. They did the same with Cov's shirt.
  19. Probably nothing to do with the lack of promotion and more to do with the fact he's a twat.
  20. Cheers for the input earlier all
  21. Bit of a cliche but you probably need to think what you really want to do first before you can enable this to happen. Don't panic or feel depressed, but whatever you do don't let it slip either, otherwise your fears will be well founded. Excellent advice. Theres nothing worse than being stuck in a job you dislike with no clear escape route. In my early 20's I sold 3pce suites and used to absolutely detest the job but with a small family, mortgage and recession (Thanks Maggie) I had no choice but keep on at it and only escaped by luck really. Depending what line your in PR can be a really tough job as well. The clients usually want the world for pennies and theres only so many times a contact in the media will run with your newspaper filler. Any chance you could give me a bit more info about your time and experiences in PR? I don't want to write the entire comms/marketing thing off on the basis of a few glum months but I have kind of went into it blind on the basis of having a related degree and I haven't had the chance to chat to someone properly about it as a career. I'd be hugely grateful if you could drop me a PM or something.
  22. Bit of a cliche but you probably need to think what you really want to do first before you can enable this to happen. Don't panic or feel depressed, but whatever you do don't let it slip either, otherwise your fears will be well founded. I think the major problem is in my heart of hearts I know exactly what I want to do, it's just horrendously difficult to get a foot in the door. On the upside this minor panic has saw me apply for four jobs I genuinely want to do over the past fortnight.
