Newcastle United v Aston Villa (19/12/15 17:30 ko Sky)
The Fish replied to Haydnator's topic in Newcastle Forum
"It's funny how a few results change peoples mindset. Is this not the same Toon side that got gubbed by Leicester and Palace with Steve only having "two games to save his job"? Against Liverpool they got a deflected goal and then the linesman somehow contrived to disallow a perfectly good Liverpool goal. Versus Spurs they once again got the luck of the green with a massive mistake by the spurs keeper at the end...so lets not act like they've suddenly become Beyern overnight. Did you know that they've actually let in a goal more than us this season? Defensively they can be naive beyond comprehension. But anyway this game is clearly vital!!..i hate that's it's on at 5:30 just to heighten the tension but i guess that's the way it is. If results go our way and Sunderland, Norwich and Bournemouth slip up then as much as a win is important not losing is also crucial...simply closing the gap, in any way possible, would be a much needed consolation because remember the target has to be to get to the window as close as possible to 17th spot, then we can add some quality and hopefully push on." Anyone fancy brummyifying that? Reegardloos, Eets tha mowst brumoy fing oyve iver rid, y'now. Fuck 'em and their beigeness. -
Fraser Forster or The Scottish Football Thread.

Doesn't that hammer it home though? No matter the state of our club(and it is some state) we can still laugh at Celtic (and Scottish football) with impunity. We'd respect you lot more if you followed Dundee, at least then you'd have some sense of perspective. -
Well that'd be highly unusual for a shop. Y'know given most people who shop in Sports Direct don't expect, nor demand much from the staff. Not that unusual for some kind of service though. Hey, here's a thought, why not figure a way for your passengers to rate you? It might improve your tips if you got feedback on what people find really, really annoying about you.

To be honest that's where my money is going. Who survived on 9 points at this stage? Was it West Brom? -

Aye, but you didn't keep them, because you can't. Scottish football is limping on when all it needs is taking out back and shooting. -
From where do you get this faith that he'll suddenly discover a quality that has thus far been stark in its absence? Marveaux managed 4 assists & 1 goal in 24 games in Ligue 1 last season, Ben Arfa has 2 assists & 7 goals in 17 games in Ligue 1 so far this season. Yet you've never seem enamoured with wor Hatem.
-
Marveaux hasn't played a minute of Premier League football for us since March 25th 2014. He's managed the sum total of 2 hours of U21 football and you reckon he should start? Stop being silly.

Burn it down and dance in the ash, daubing your face with the blood of your victims, only then will the dark lord's hunger be sated.

Think we're going to have a lot more of the ball against Villa, also he's likely to get more time on the ball and perhaps that will get the most out of him?
-
Part of the issue for me. It's become a staple like "Toon Toon", "N and an E and a Wubble U C". We shouldn't be singing about the arseholes down the road more than we are our own players. Mbemba's the only one with a chant these days (we've understandably dropped the Colo chant). We don't even sing anti-Ashley songs anymore.
-
No doubt. That said, when you could toss a pillowcase over the two "forwards" it doesn't half make his job harder. Him, Janmaat and Wijnaldum suddenly found themselves in space. Now, this may have as much to do with our increasing confidence to play the ball on the deck, or it could be because Spurs weren't really at the races in the 2nd half. Whatever it was, Perez & Mitrovic's introduction coincided with a sharp jump in the apparent effort & performance of Moussa.

I like page seven of their match thread for our game, where they take exception to Newcastle fans singing about Johnson. On page 7 of their 30 page thread they accuse us of obsession. fwiw I wish we wouldn't sing songs about them if we're not playing them, but noise is better than nowt.
-
The standard response to someone pointing that out, is that they only have a match thread because it's on tv and would do the same for Everton v Spurs (or whomever).
-
His game really benefits from the space left by a more mobile forward partnership. If the centre backs are getting pulled around, he can isolate the fullback and really attack him.

No... no he didn't. So I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. Instead, maybe you could concentrate on something more rewarding? Like learning to use the English language as it was intended? Or pottery?
