One of the worst performances from a Newcastle 'team' I've ever seen that. Can't praise any of them. This is what happens when you try and buy cheap players from France and sell them a club that will sell them on as soon as we receive a decent offer for them without any consideration of building a team. Sacking McClaren will do nothing to resolve this as long as the sickness is still there at the top of the club.

I suppose there's a lot of French players in the league so that could be a reason but I agree it's bollocks really. I'm all for showing a bit of repect for the dead and their families but this really has nothing to do with football and they're just dragging it out. Seems like more of an attempt to score points than anything else.

104 from 46 for Butler. Fucking outstanding to watch that. Pissed on his own record fastest ODI centuries.

You'd think Root would be able to play there quite comfortably then you'd have a choice between Taylor, Balance and Bairstow for 4 & 5. Where does Compton play for his county? Bumble was suggeting earlier that he could be there to play at number 3. You're right about Balance outside his off. He looked extremely vunerable against the Aussies there and I can't imagine he'll have an easier time against SA.

The way they're talking is they'll only use Ali so rather than have Rashid as backup they're taking Patel so Rashid can get more experience elsewhere (including the big bash). Hayles hasn't convinced me in the shorter formats which he seems more suited to so I wouldn't mind seeing Compton play but after Hayles has been in and around the international squads for a while now, I'd be surprised if he wasn't given his chance. I think Ballance has potential too. He always looks terrified when he's about to face a delivery but he quite often digs in a makes a decent score. He hasn't been helped in recent tests he's played when he's had to come in so early when we've lost early wickets, especially when Cook was struggling a bit.

Bell and Rashid left out of the SA tour as well as Finn & Wood being injured. Ballance, Footit & Compton brought in. Surprised but not disapointed to see Bell out. He's been woefully out of form for a while now. Quite surprised to see Compton and Ballance back in too. Compton has the best record of any opening batsman with Cook since Strauss retired so he possibly should have been in before now but you would expect Hayles to be given a go first so I'm not sure I see much point in Compton being there.

Vardy reminds me of Bellamy for us. I don't think he's got as much quality as Bellamy but he's always wanting to be involved and setting the tone for his team. I don't think he's international class and I find it ridiculous some of the teams that are being talked up as interested in him, but he's very usefull player for team outside the top and fair play to him for getting to where he is now.

Does anyone really give a fuck about England. It's about as interesting as watching us under Pardew but I just don't feel compelled to watch like I do with us. I might watch tonights game or I might watch Masterchef and catch up with Fargo. That said I'm booked up to go to Berlin at Easter when we play as well as France for the Euro's.

I felt the same way. But all of a sudden a couple of years later you're 39 which is basically 40 and people really start wanting you to be a proper adult! That's nothing to look forward too! Happy birthday though.

Mitchell Johnson retired from international cricket today I see. Broad will be a happy man!

Hasn't he been fucking lasses for years while knowing he's HIV though?

Calgary again. Brilliant stuff. -
Compared to most of the drivel she writes thats not actually too bad. Where Matt Jansen or Adam Johnson or Perez ending up with Pardew at Palace fits in is anyones guess but questioning where he would get a game at Manure or Spurs is perectly valid. Not sure where she gets he's played lots out wide from like.

Personally I've found that coke certainly enhances my performance.

Late to the party on this but I've watched a few Jim Jeffries shows recently and he's superb. Saw Frankie Boyle at the stand in September and he was brilliant too (as was the guy opening for him).

Well the ODI has started well!

I really love Millers Crossing with Barton Fink and Blood Simple also being excellent. -

Aye I really do need to give it another go. Cage can be really annoying at times though. -

You're going to be disapointed in it if that's what you're hoping for! -

True Grit and in particular No Country For Old Men have come well after their early greats and arguably stand up to them. I reckon they've got a few more classics to come and Hail Cesar may well be one of them. Personally they only films of theirs that I've really not got are A Serious Man and Rasing Arizona (which I've never managed to watch all the way through). -

Everest. Took far too long to get going and I'd lost a lot of interest before the shit hit the fan and it got more entertaining. Tangerine. Comedy drama about a couple of transexual prossy's in LA and dodgy Armenian taxi driver. The whole film was shot on iphones but you wouldn't know it (in fact I'd completely forgot that it was until someone mentioned it afterwards). It mainly stars unknown or amateur actors (and Ziggy from season 2 of The Wire) so I didn't find the acting great but it was an interesting little indie film.
