  1. I wouldn't expect anything else. Our transfer policy is so blinkered it's unreal.
  2. Ridley Scott's recent output is no recommendation tbh. Looks interesting though.
  3. Tbh Deserter Songs is the only one of their albums I've ever really managed to get into although I quite liked Snowflake Midnight. It seems quite good so far and I've liked what I've heard from it on 6 music so far (they did a good live session last week).
  4. I'm fully prepared to admit my mistakes. I've made more than enough of them!
  5. That sounds very much like my place!
  6. Aye maybe I'm talking bollocks when I think about it. I've always just had the impression that other than the ones who are really considered some of the best in the world, most keepers don't really come through until their mid to late twenties. Probably I'm thinking about how the likes of Seaman and Schmeichel weren't playing at the top level until then, but a quick glance at their records and I can see that they were certainly playing first team football in their early twenties or late teens.
  7. That's not at all old for a keeper though is it. A lot keepers don't start getting a game until their mid twenties. Krul got into the first teams much earlier than a most.
  8. You're right Krul has had to play behind awful defences and that will have certainly effected him but I don't think he's ever played behind two wingers, a midfielder who barely played any football in a year and kid who's never played a professional game. But as you say the opposition was pony too. I remember reading an article where a number of pundits were picking future England internationals though and Darlow was in there so I don't think we should be writing him off yet. He may well end up better than Krul. At the minute though I just hope he's better than Elliott.
  9. Aye the only bit I might argue with there is about Darlow looking shakey pre season. Not that I would say he didn't, just that when he did he had the likes of wor Shane playing in the defence in front of him. Shilton would have been nervous playing behind that.
  10. I actually agree with the sad makem on this subject (god I feel sick now). Krul isn't a patch on Given in any area. Given's kicking wasn't great and he didn't command his box either but I would say he did so more than Krul and he wasn't six foot four. Those parts of Given's game prevented him from being truly world class for me but he was still an excellent keeper. Krul has those faults and he's extremely suspect to his right (playing in goal myself I can understand how this works because I'm much weaker on my left). I actually don't think he's as good as Pav either. Yes he's had the odd game like Spurs away but he's not regularly gained us points in a long time.
  11. We have a team who don't seem to give a fuck against anyone!
  12. Or we could end up releasing him at the end of the season after his confidence get's shot by having to play in a struggling team and getting the blame for the goals he conceeds.
  13. When we signed Darlow he was being tipped as a future England international and he seemed to be doing well for Forrest at the start of last season. But I've never seen more than the odd few clips of him so I couldn't say whether he's likely to be good enough or not. We know Elliot isn't anywhere near as good as Krul though so his injury has to be a concern. I totally agree about Woodman despite him apparently doing well for Crawley.
  14. I bet he wins one out of his next two though!
  15. Has anyone any idea how long Darlow is supposed to be out for? We've seen little to nothing of him but we have to hope he's better than Elliot who has convinced everyone how shit he is. Regarding Krul i've been unimpressed with him for quite a while now. He lets in far too many saveable shots for my liking.
  16. The shit state Ashley has put the club in has our own supporters giving up so it should be no surprise at all that we have our foreign imports wanting to fuck off too!
  17. We need to change this policy of buying players with no premiership experience like. I'm not saying we shouldn't get any such players but it's obvious that it's going to take more time for any player to bed in who's arrived with no experience over here. We need to be looking at more of a mixture. We also need to accept it's important to have some older players in the squad. You can't expect leadership from a team full of young kids.
  18. I agree but I do think I've seen more in the team so far this season than I've seen for a long time. I think we've got enough to get out of it but of course confidence plays a big part and ours is obviously extremely fragile at the moment.
  19. Maybe that's why Sissoko has stopped bothering!
  20. Yeah that's it. Someone I know (who I have absolutely no reason to doubt) told me he knows someone who's either a physio or fitness guy at the club and he had told him. I can easily believe a player coming from France could react like this as I'm sure Robert Pires said similar things about when he first joined Arsenal. Mind you I would have thought he would have that reaction to the Arsenal game the amount of running about he had to do against them.
  21. I agree he's not what we need right now and that again shows up the massive flaw in our transfer policy. But he deserves more time before he's written off.
  22. I agree, Sissoko is rapidly overtaking Williamson as my least favourite player. If what I heard about Thauvin is true then at least it suggests he gives some sort of shit about his performances for us which is a lot more than can be said about Sissoko.
  23. Probably learned that he's struggling to make an imediate impact in a struggling team. Hardly a reason to write him off straight away.
  24. I admittedly didn't see the Watford or Sheff Wed games in which he was apparently awful, but he looked useful when he came on against Manure and worked his bollocks off against Arsenal after Mitrovic was sent off. I can't believe how quickly so many people are completely writing him off. We've had English players come here and start poorly and go on to do very well (Rob Lee was poor for his first few months) so I think we can give Thauvin a bit more time yet.
