  1. The Vermont was outstanding. Right up there with Cafe 21. After 2 meals in 2 days though I now feel comepletely fucked!
  2. I'm not sure I enjoyed it enough to go to the cinema to watch it. More interesting than anything else and certainly not the type of film I'd want to watch many times. I'd certainly recommend it as something to see though.
  3. What was the restaurant week menu like? We're heading there on Saturday. Dabawal last night was really good.
  4. Nice to see Citeh fans and the tramps down the road showing a lot more class than the wist am fans managed.
  5. It is hilarious reading that we're up in arms about them signing Rodwell like. Seen a few people raise an eybrow and say he might be a decent signing for him but that's it. No one cares we missed out (or stepped aside) but they seem to think we're all shitting ourselves or cursing the fact he's gone there. Mugs.
  6. Colback and Rodwell are both central midfielders. The comparisson is obvious. In terms of significance of the signings Cabella and SDJ would be more comparable.
  7. Citeh were paying that much for him based on potential not a finished article. I can't really imagine he's improved much if at all when he's barely played since he's been there. I think they've been done somewhat for that sort of money. Mind you, I don't mind admitting that if you'd offered me him or Colback to sign at the start of the summer I would have rather signed him. It will be interesting to see which one of them proves more useful.
  8. The picture quality of that on youtube is much better than thw quality I managed to find on download. It was like an 80's pirate video!
  9. Going to the Vermont tonight for restaurant week. Never been before but the menu looks excellent.
  10. Dawson is shite. Slower than Raylor has been during his injury. Spurs fans apparently are desperate to see the back of him. Don't rate Kaboul either but aye he's probably better than what we have. No change of Agger or Vermaelen.
  11. I still think mine is bang on. We've made some of the signings that were being talked about at the time (much more than I expected) but I'm still confident Pardew will be shite and given that we've actually got something out of Ashley (even if it is no more than we've made in sales) it's probably more likely he'll do something else to piss us off.
  12. Below is where I think I got my main impression of Janmaat. It's from the Chronicle when we signed him. Daryl Janmaat of the Netherlands Newcastle United fans are getting “like for like” as Daryl Janmaat prepares to replace Mathieu Debuchy. The Dutch full-back loves to get forward according to the Chron’s Eredivisie pundit Will Burns. Burns runs the successful TotalDutchFootball.com website and has watched Janmaat’s progress in the last few years. And he told ChronicleLive: “Janmaat is an attacking right-back that Toon fans will notice instantly that he is a similar player to the outgoing Mathieu Debuchy. “The 24-year-old always has the desire to surge forward, and will look to overlap the winger or cut inside to look to play the best ball possible. “However, unlike most forward thinking full-backs, Janmaat can cover well in defence. “His great pace helps him catch the opposition if the possession has been lost, and he has been known to slide in a great recovery tackle to halt tricky playmakers in their stride.” 2013 Getty Images Newcastle United defender Mathieu Debuchy Newcastle United defender Mathieu Debuchy But Janmaat can also roll his sleeves up and get involved in the rough stuff too according to Burns. He said: “If needed, he is also quite capable in the air to cut out those long balls. He is physically strong, so he should cope well with the hustle and bustle of the Premier League and keep the ball when battling shoulder to shoulder with the opposition’s winger. “Attacking is where the Magpies will see the benefits of Janmaat. “Last season for Feyenoord, he created 36 chances for Feyenoord, in which five of them became assists and as well as notching twice in 40 appearances. A fantastic defender he is not, although he is solid and very reliable and if a partnership is created a cautious right wide man, we could see a successful career on Tyneside.” The Feyenoord right-back is on Tyneside and Newcastle are expected to complete the signing of the defender. He's expected to be a like-for-like replacement for Mathieu Debuchy He was due to complete the move on Monday but was unwell after flying back from the World Cup in Brazil.
  13. He's the bloke with one eye from Utopia.
  14. Erm, I was talking about him being Catholic.
  15. He makes Wilson look like an international class player.
  16. What's so sad about him missing a pen for the reserves?
  17. What I've read about Janmaat is quite the opposite of what you've read Fish. He was being lauded for his attacking but not so much for his defending. If that is the case then it doesn't fit in with your principle of letting the attackers off with defensive work. I would also say that Colback was an oppertunistic signing as he's a Newcastle fan and was out of contract. I'm not sure he has any great range of passing yet (the tramps certainly seem to suggest not) so I'm not convinced he's part of any great plan there either. The attacking players I do agree with though and I think this is part of an actual plan to replace the creativity of one player (Cabaye) with more creativity and movement from our entire attack. I'm not convinced that Pardew has the ability to get this to work though.
  18. They're both young, left footed, black and born in Kingston. How much more alike can they be!
  19. You think? I can see him playing much further down the league in years to come. I'm not sure what attributes he has to suggest he can make it at this level.
  20. It would be great to see us produce a real talent on the left wing after a quite a few who haven't quite made it in recent time (Wor Shane, Sammy, Lualua, Alan O'Brien?).
  21. Reading through that thread on their forum, there seems to be a few of them suggesting that they might not be on too good a footing financially. That might explain the price. Of course there could also be money in forms of add ons that aren't being included in the suggested prices.
  22. I bet their fans will be over the moon with that. If I were them I'd want more money if he was going there not less!
