When I went the urinals had been stolen. I mean seriously who the fuck would nick something like that! Mind you, looking at the clientele in there I wasn't actually surprised.

Nothing new there at all. He's never denied writing the letter and Pardew has admitted he did too. They just said it was lost in translation a bit and he's said he's here for the rest of the season and will continue to give his all. He's said what he had to for me, he respects the club and the fans but for personal reasons he needs to go home. I'm sure he will in the summer and as long as we get a reasonable price for him good luck to him.

That's been going round for months at least. Strangely enough it gets better the more you hear it. And it's definitely better to hear it rather than see it written down.

I don't think it's ridiculous that those comparisons get made. You have to accept that Maradona dragged two very average teams to glory and Messi's never done that (and most likely never will). That isn't knocking Messi but it is acknowledging what Maradona did do. I agree with Gloomy that winning a world cup would be the thing that will put Messi up there with Maradona and Pele. The likes of Cruyff, Platini, Puskas, Eusebio, Di Stefano etc are all classed as greats but they miss the one thing puts them just above. I agree with what you're saying about Iniesta too. Funnily enough we were comparing him and Zidane in the pub last night. I made the point that until recently he was probably the most underrated player ever. Not that he's not been highly rated, just not enough for how good he is.

I've said it before, the worst bar I've ever been in was in Walker. The Westborne Club was a truly frightening place to be in. The fact that some of the people I was with were truly frightening didn't help like!
-
I've only ever been down Shields Road once or twice and I felt much the same as you did with Wallsend (probably worse actually). Even the bars in the town have gone right downhill recently but the local scene's are much worse. We used to regularly have a Friday night round Howdon but they knocked down the Bewick, the Engine burned down and Mauri has hardly been open in the last ten years (and it's like Shameless when it is).
-
Oh aye there's definitely much worse. Mind you, you always feel more comfortable in an area you know whether or not it's dodgy. Walker and plenty of the places in the west end are much worse. Although my mams from walker and my dads mam used to live next to Elswick when I was a bairn so I was used to seeing them too I think we were in the Klub on New Years Day a couple of year ago (started off in the Anson!) and it was pretty shitty so we moved onto the relative class of the Powder Monkey. To be honest I think in the four years since I've moved back over here I've been out on the high street about four times and they were just for a laugh more than anything else. I much prefer drinking in the town/Tynemouth/Jesmond and if I'm going for a couple local (which happens a few times a week these days) I would usually go to the Sun or Monkey as they're closer to where I live and not so scummy When we first started going out drinking when I was in my teens we used to mainly hit the high street. It was a lot better back then like (well it had more young uns). I remember being there when Viv Graham was shot on New Years Eve.

Aye it must have been the Bowman, it's the only place that does food round there. It's been done up recently and it's not too bad but the clientele are still the main issue. Wallsend town centre is a depressing place like I have to admit. But a couple of years in Jarrow aside, I've lived in Wallsend all my life so I'm used to it and pretty content to stay there. That's not to say I don't appreciate the benefit of getting out as much as possible if I'm looking to go for a night out!

The Road To Amsterdam ArenA (UEFA Europa League 2013) - THE END
David Kelly replied to Aeris's topic in Newcastle Forum
Aye, I would play as strong a side as possible tomorrow and win the tie at home. Then we can rest a few more players over there. I realise that anyone making the trip over there would want to see a decent team but from my own experience in Brugge, I'd lost a lot of interest in the match by the time it had kicked off and I assume it will be the same for those in the Ukraine -

6/5 to win this on Paddypower. I would think that should be pretty easy money assuming we put a decent team out. -
I'm sure you have been plenty of times
-
I assume that was the Jolly Bowman as I can't remember the Rising Sun ever doing food (other than the saltiest chips ever that they bring out at half time for the matches these days). You want to think yourself lucky you didn't get deeper into Battle Hill to the Emperor Hadrian. There's not many bars that you can see people get axed in! Although it's been knocked down for a while now. You clearly should have headed past the Silverlink to the Shiremoor Farm. They do decent bait. Probably the only place around Wallsend that does.
-
Not much difference to what it is now tbh. Mind you there are a lot worse bars than the Anson in Wallsend, compared to some it's positively cosmopolitan! Mind you, they had to have a white russian explained but bless them they gave it a try!
-
We went in the Anson for last orders on Boxing day and it wasn't that bad to be fair. Baring in mind we'd been out all day for the match and were pretty mortal that's not much of a recommendation tbh. Johnny Decker is a legend btw
-
Yeah well the high street isn't the best like. I ordered a pizza from Aroma one night and the ex refused to get out of the car while I went in to collect it! I work nearby and went over the forum at lunch time and it's nearly as bad as the Bridges in Sunderland! Some of the ugliest most mong'd people I've seen in a long time!
-
]Oi what's the matter with Wallsend like!
-
Aye, he's been a lot better than I expected and I agree with Pardew that him having to go off made a big difference to the game on Saturday. His work rate and pace are extremely impressive.

Tbh I read most new news about us or our players on here so I'm unlikely to start a new thread on them anyway.
-
So CT put the new bit about Abeid in that threat hiimself? I have to admit I think it's unlikely I could be arsed to search for a months (or years) old thread for something like that if I wanted it to post it (not that I often start owt new myself anyway like!) Oh and I think if the admin want to sort a thread out they may as well lock that lets all laugh at Sunderland one. It's more embarrassing than anything else now.

Brad Inman - One for the future....
David Kelly replied to south_cheshire_toon's topic in Newcastle Forum
There was definitely issues with Carrolls loan but he did get first team football. The problems were more off the pitch if I remember right. -
Is this being done on purpose by admin or are people just going back and searching for old threads about a player in adding new bits onto them?

Brad Inman - One for the future....
David Kelly replied to south_cheshire_toon's topic in Newcastle Forum
I'm not convinced of that. That's what we've done with players for years and it's not got us anywhere. Surely if they're good enough to be on the bench for us then they are good enough to play at a lower level. Inman and Newton have never been that far up our pecking order but they are out on loan now. Our biggest successes from the academy in recent memory are Carroll and Taylor and they both went out on loan for experience in their teens. -
Nah it was good all the way through. Lost momentum after Mulder was abducted though despite Doggett being a good character. Worth watching again though.

Film/moving picture show you most recently watched

I watched The Butterfly Effect last night. I'd never seen it before and enjoyed it. Just a shame that Ashton Kutcher can't act. With the right cast it could have been another Twelve Monkeys. Of course they would have needed to end it before his last jump through time for that, but they should have done that anyway.
