  1. Something like La La La Ginola perhaps?
  2. Can anyone give me a product key for this. I got a lend of it to see if I can play it or not but didn't get it.
  3. Two of my favourites mentioned there. I'd recommend Exit by Shugo Tokumaru too then, if you haven't heard it already. Never heard of them/him/her. Will give it a look. Liking the David Byrne/Brian Eno album btw.
  4. DK's list is pretty comprehensive but there was quite a few i'd not heard. I'm still wading though 2006/7. I'd recommend this group Midlake, they only came to my attention via the fabulously titled 'Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve remix' of a track called Roscoe. It was a bit of a shock when i heard the actual album as it sounds like it was written at the same time as Fleetwood Mac's Rumours. Bizzare but its been on my iPod everyday for the last fortnight. If Midlake does it for you then I suggest you go out and find stuff by Besnard Lakes and the Clientele. I also suggest if you haven't heard the Drones, do. Besnard Lakes are canny but the Clientele are excellent. Their EP this year is very good but their last two albums are superb. Never heard of the Drones. What are they like? The Drones are one of those quiet achiever Australian bands that are a mixture of noisy guitar, eerie vocals and good song writing. They have a bit of an association with the Dirty Three and Black Eyed Susans if you know their stuff. A bit of background > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_drones Also DK the recommendations were for Parky, I knew you were a clientele fan. Besnard Lakes are the dark horse is one of those albums that it takes four listens and then it just gets you. Have you just confused me with Parky? Chez, I have, sorry mate. In fairness my original post was inspired by the following post from Parky and then I read your praise for Midlake. In the end it's all about KK Got The Clientele on your recommendation, gave it a quick listen and liked it. Also got some Okkervill River as per DK's post and the new Fujiya & Miyagi (Lightbulbs). All good. Which Okkervill did you get. Black Sheep Boy is my favourite but that may just be because that it the one I've had longest, they have all grown on me more and more. The last Clientele album is my favourite of theirs too.

  6. Some of the other ones. M83 - Usually more of a kind of electro post rock but this album is more shoegazy. Tindersticks - I think they've been around for ages but this is the first album I've heard and it's excellent. Fairly straightforward chamber pop. The Helio Sequence - Kind of alt country pop with a singer that reminds me a bit of Dylan on some of the songs Helvetia - Again kind of alt country but more alt with a bit of Flaming Lips thrown in. Airborne Toxic Event - Straight forward indie rock. Nothing new but good tunes. Rural Alberta Advantage - Sounds more than a bit like Neutral Milk Hotel with a bit of Wolf Parade thrown in. The Instruments - Like a much better Beach House with a singer that sounds a lot like Nico. Deerhunter - Shoegazy again. Okervill River - Definitely alt country this one. They have made three excellent albums in a row that get better with every listen. Mercury Rev - Their best album for me. The Breeders - Kim Deal (from the Pixies) doing Pixies like stuff. They've never bettered Cannonball but this is a good album. Thao - Female singer a bit like Feist but a better album. The Submarines - Like a good verison of the Cardigans
  7. Jim is was my sunny day album this summer, not that there were many like.
  8. I don't get the problem with fake tits. There's a couple of lasses at work who've had them done and it's been nothing but a good thing in my mind.
  9. I'm miles behind. Well that's something to look forward too. Apparently not as good as the last one which I've spectacularly failed to get a hold of so far. Very good though.
  10. TV On The Radio aren't that weird, I remember Return To Cookie Mountain getting a big push in HMV in the Metrocentre when it was released a couple of years ago. Probably one of the best bands going at the minute.
  11. Turned into more of a Facebook Massive Chebs thread this. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
  12. Those are probably my favourite ones from my previous post. If someone else (HF Probably) wants to describe what they are like because I'm crap at things like that. If there's any that HF doesn't know I'll chip in.
  13. I'd love to say I bought all of those but it would be a lie. But no there were lots of albums I heard (I'm fortunate enough to be able to listen to music at work now so I can listen to quite a bit and I've felt I needed to check out more this year because of the let downs of of some of my more anticipated releases) and didn't think too much of. The big let downs were Destroyer, Wolf Parade and Islands for me but I've heard lot of other that did nothing for me. I just went through my Ipod and listed the ones I enjoyed although I admit not all of them are good album but they all did some good stuff. I'd forgotten about that David Byrne album, I must get my hands on that. Also the Sigur Ros album is one I must listen too more, it didn't stick with me as much as their last few but I still quite enjoyed it.
  14. I do look at Pitchfork certainly but tbf most of those came recommended from the Metacritic forum or from just looking to see what people had bought of Amazon who bought other stuff I liked. Most of the stuff I got off Pitchfork I got from previous albums as there's quite a few on there that they panned if I remember correctly. There's probably only about 10 of those that they give high scores to. Don't worry I know you weren't having a dig and I'm not getting all defensive but I don't really know of any other ways of getting to hear about the type of music that I like other than through recommendations from such sites.

  16. Black Narcissus. Not as good as the other Powell & Pressburger films I've seen but it gets better as it goes on and the ending is good. Dawn Of The Dead. Shite acting but what seemed to start as a pretty dull zombie film really gets going and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Lost Weekend. Classic, Ray Milland is superb and although it's got a standard Hollywood happy ending I have to admit I was wanting it that way. Hero. Beautiful and a canny film but not as good as it looks. Judgement Night. Hadn't seen it in ages but a cracking film. Jeremy Piven is class as ever.
  17. Upson's a mercenary bastard and not actually that good. No thanks. Wrong on both counts. Don't really know where you get the mercenary part from but he is certainly a good player. He's not a stand out kind of player but he's very consistent which is just what we have lacked for years. I think he would work well with Colloccini too He's a mercenary in my eyes for how he abandoned Birmingham's promotion push mid-season for $$$ at West Ham. And he's a bit of a sicknote or has been in recent years, which is just what we don't need. I don't think he was pushing for a transfer like Defoe was from West Ham when they went down and I wouldn't think many would blame him from wanting to leave Birmingham. As for him being a sicknote I agree we should be looking to avoid players like that going forward but in our current position we are going to have to accept that our first choices are no longer going to be possible. He's started all of their league games this season btw.
  18. Upson's a mercenary bastard and not actually that good. No thanks. Wrong on both counts. Don't really know where you get the mercenary part from but he is certainly a good player. He's not a stand out kind of player but he's very consistent which is just what we have lacked for years. I think he would work well with Colloccini too. Noble would be a good type of player to look at, he's a grafter who seems to be able to contribute well in attack. We've got no chance of bringing in the type of playmaker we were all after in the summer so a Noble type player would be our best chance. Bullard would be better but I think he would be more difficult to get. With regards to what else we can do, I'm not sure there is anything. We aren't going to change manager without the club being sold and I can't see there being any money for additional backroom staff when you would be thinking that when the club is sold they would probably be replaced. Our only way forward is for Ashley to quite quickly in January show some intention with cash backing for Kinnear and add to that with some loans for the rest of the season as well as trying to tie down Owen to a new deal. Having one of the best goalscorers in the world on a long term contract isn't going to harm his chances of selling the club (don't for a second think he will sign anway like but they should give it a go). Upson's injury record would put me off like. Good player though. SBR could have had him for about £1.2m iirc. Yeah that's a fair enought point although I get the impression he seems to have turned things around on the score. Whenever I see them play he always seems be in but the stats might prove me wrong.

  20. Cheers Jimbo, I'm not sure about PES, the controlls look really dodgy.
  21. Anyone else got a Wii and can recommend any good games? Got it mainly so the bairn can play on things the like Wii Sports and wor lass can get a Wii fit but I fancy getting some propper games that I can play when they go to bed. Mario Kart is the only one I have at the minute and I fancy trying it online when I get a bit better at at. Zelda, Mario Galaxy and Metroid all look good and I fancy giving the new Call of Duty a go seeing as everyone seems to rave about them on the PS3. I know the Wii's aren't as good for propper gaming as the PS3 and Xbox but since I've played nothing other than Football Manger for the past ten years or so it seems like a decent place to re enter.
  22. Don't even joke about it. Now that he's been brought to mind I could actually see us go for the likes of Quashie. Slightly off topic what does everyone think the reaction would be if in January the likes of Owen and Butt (or worse still Given) are allowed to go and are replaced by a number of no hopers? Personally I would hope for a reaction similar to that of Keegans departure but I fear apathy will have truly set in by then.
  23. Only really go for craic now. The standard of football since Robson was sacked has been a disgrace and just keeps getting worse. I know I will renew though. I couldn't stand being stuck with wor lass and her mother every Saturday afternoon when there's a match on. Even if it is against MK Dons.
  24. I would normally agree with you but the only one of those teams we have beat so far is West Brom and by the end we were hanging on against them (and they are comfortably the weakest team in the league). Citeh are strong at home and could have spent god knows what by the time we play them so I wouldn't be betting on us beating them. I have been concerned before because of the way we were playing but our inability to beat shite at home combined with an even worse than usual record away from makes things even worse. Add to that the fact that other teams (like the makems and probably Blackburn) have the oppertunity to sack their manager and get someone else in who will give them at least a short term lift and possibly some money to spend in January while we have no chance of getting a new manager this season and very little of fatty putting some cash in for transfers while a lot of players will be thinking about being elsewhere. I really do think we could be fucked this season and I'm hoping for a meltdown at west ham to have much hope at all.
