    Drug abuse

Coke leaves the system quickly does it not?
  2. Cloverfield. Watching someones home video of a party (which is what the first fifteen minutes or so equates to) is pretty dull but once you get past that it's a really good watch (though not as good as some of the over the top reviews I've seen). The way they only showed glimpses of the monster and never made any attempt to explain what it was or where it came from is a masterstroke. It could have easily turned out to be another mess like Godzilla but I think what they set out to do (which for me seemed to be as much about the fact that every major world event from now on will be captured on film because of our increasing use of techology) really worked. I don't know whether I'd really want to watch it over and over again but it's defintely worth seeing. Ratatouille. Good but not in the same league as either of the Toy Stories, Shrek or Monsters Inc and for kids I would think it would be well back on Finding Nemo too. The animation was top notch like. Point Blank. Lee Marvin did a much better job of being hard and mean as fuck than Mel Gibson did in Payback and Angie Dickinsons tits were a nice distraction too. Didn't like some of the 60's editing though which seemed to be trying to be a bit too trippy for its own good.
  3. It makes no sense at all if you think about. Ashley's actions (sitting with the fans, wearing a toon shirt, bringing in Keegan) all seemed to be geared around having a good time with the club. Now to me the best way to do that is to give the manager a load of money to bring in some top class players and see us have a real go at challenging for something. Selling up now before he's had a chance to back his man and hopefully enjoy the results of that seems completely at odds with everything he's done.
  4. Class film that, the best western I've seen in years.
  5. There's not a great deal of them about who you would expect to add much though is there, and our last couple of players from that region (Tomassen and Andersson weren't exactly massively successful were they). With regards to French players I'm not sure that I would be so keen to avoid them. Cantona, Ginola, Henry, Pires, Petit, Viera, Anelka, Robert, Distan, Evra, Silvestre, Saha, Makelle and more have all made big impacts in this country so I don't think there is much of a problem. Admittedly there are others (Boumsong being the obvious one) who have struggled badly and even some of the ones who have done well have had their strops but to stay away from them just because of this seems wrong to me. I would have thought you must have at least a 50:50 chance of a French player coming over and doing well as long as you go for the right one (it's more a scouting issue for me). The French probably have been the biggest success in terms of overseas players in the Premiership whereas Spanish, Itallians, South Americans and Germans have made very little impact (with a few ecceptions aside).
  6. Top player for us he was, back when we didn't have a bunch of soft shites playing for us (tbf we didn't have a lot of skill either like baring Pedro & Gazza). Hope it turns out ok for him.
  7. I'll give it another go on a night when I'm not nodding off by nine (in other words whenever I can get the bairn to sleep a full night).
  8. Still can't past the first twenty minutes of that. Sweeney Todd. I'm not a massive musical fan and the ones I do like usually have more dialogue than this but I quite enjoyed it. Depp is excellent as ever and his cockney accent has improved since From Hell (it's still pretty poor though) but Alan Rickman and Helena Bonham Carter steal a portion of the film off him. As always with Tim Burton films it looks gorgeous and the violence is pretty grusome (definitely deserving of the 18 rating). Overall not bad but not one of my favourite Depp or Burton films.

He's wank at rightback too but I would accept him as back up as long as we've got a first choice who doesn't pick up any injuries or suspensions. Mind you Geremi would be my second choice for that position and I'd probably have Taylor in before him too.
  10. I'm not advocating bringing bodies in for the sake of it at all. My point was if he'd had more time he might have been in a better position to find players that we could get and that would be more than just extra bodies. That he never had that chance goes some way to explaining the position we are in now. I've said it previously though that I'm happy Keegan decided not to waste money and would much rather see him go for it big style in the summer. I'm not as confident now that we'll still be in the premiership by then as was a few weeks ago.
  11. I would never have picked Keegan as manager personally but I do understand why the descision was made and I eventually did get caught up in the excitment of the whole thing (walking into the town before the Bolton game was the most excited I'd been before a game in a long time). Now I'm deeply concerned that relegation is a strong possibility as at the moment I just can't see where our next win is going to come from. We don't look like we could beat anyone at them moment. We were so short of players that it was always going to be a struggle (I just hoped the fans could be enough to inspire a win), the Arsenal games were a right off before we even started but the last two games have been a bit of an eye opener. Boro are shite and we looked worse than them (yes had the ref and his team been better we would have won the game but that doesn't hide our inadequacies) and we were a million miles behind Villa on Saturday. I don't blame Keegan for any of this though, he inheritted the mess that Allardyce left behind and found that he didn't have the time and/or knowlege of the squad/market to make the required moves in January and he is still getting to know the players so he's bound to make some selection errors. I had hoped that he might be able to motivate them to do more than they had been but I think the timing of everything (the run of games we've had, the transfer window and the African Nations) have made everything more difficult for him. I still believe Keegan can do a lot move us back up the league next season if he gets the type of funds that have been suggested but we would have to go out and do what Chelsea did and have a couple of summers spending £100+ if we want to seriously challenge the big four (even then not being in Europe or London will give us problems attrackting top class players so reaching that level might take a lot more than Abramovic spent). That's providing my hopes that Derby, Fulham, Reading, Wigan and Birmingham are all too bad to allow us to go down pan out. If not then might be competing with the money men at QPR for players.
  12. Aye, good point, they'd have got 2 goals each no problem. Don't even know what you're on about now. It was crying out for a change at 2-1 and Viduka for Smith and Emre for the woeful Barton were the obvious ones for me. No one is saying they'd have definitely won us the game but just sticking with what we had was tantamount to conceding the match imo. Exactly, no point having 3 subs and only using one when it's obvious half the team needs changing. We would have needed 11 subs for that second half though and certainly the five we had could have easily replaced Given, Carr, Taylor/Cacapa, Barton and Smith. TBH I would have had all five of them on from the start and I'm sure if Keegan knew a bit more about the team and Carew he would have certainly started wirth Faye.

Well this was well and truly answered on Saturday. On a day of fucking useless performances he managed to stand head and shoulders above anyone else in the fuckwit stakes. Started the rot by fucking about with the ball and losing posession which led to their first goal and then puts the icing on the cake gifting them a penalty. The worst player at the club by a country mile.
  14. Moved from Lille to Lyon last summer. Not likely to pick him up on the cheap then.
  15. How fucking bad was Kolo Toure last night? He was no where near his man for the second goal and I could have done better for the third. He was like a rabbit in headlights. Where does that winger who scored for the Ivory Coast play? Looks a canny player.
  16. Hardly set the world alight at Preston did he? I would suspect he's not ready for the first team yet. I would let him go to Norwich with people he knows and see if they can get something out of him.
  17. of Transmetropolitan fame? I'm guessing not. All I know is that he did the soundtrack for The Proposition with Cave as well (may of actually wrote the film with him too but I wouldn't swear to that). The Rocky Horror Picture Show. What a pile of shite. Susan Sarrandon is very sexy in it though.
  18. Bonnie Prince Billy - I See A Darkness
  19. The Assasination Of Jessie James By The Coward Robert Ford. Not quite sure how I feel about it tbh. Quite slow and without a great deal of action but beautifully shot and very well acted (particually Casey Affleck who I wouldn't have expected to hold his own with Brad Pitt, Sam Rockwell & Sam Shepperd but he did) and with a fantastic score by Nic Cave & Warren Ellis. I think I might need to watch it again.
  20. In other words the fans don't want it but fuck them, it will make us money. Says everything that is wrong with football right there.
  21. He's very skillful though. This is one player imo where Wenger missed the boat. Pace probably was the issue. I agree but I really think we need to look towards pace in the team in the summer.
  22. Bentley's a good player but has he got much pace? I think we could do with a real injection of pace into the team as there's only really Martins and N'Zogbia who have any at all.
  23. Wright-Phillips would be a good option. Fast as fuck which is something we're more than a bit short of, can score and put in a decent ball. Not sure we'd have much chance of getting him though. Huntelaar would, I think, be a good partner for either Martins or Owen and I think he will more than likely leave Ajax but the chances of getting him must be slim. Carrick would be worth a try. If we show him some ambition, him being a Geordie might pursuade him to come and with Manure having Hargreaves and a few other central mids they might let him go for a decent amount. Someone with his passing ability in midfield is just what we need. If we were to go for a leftback back Bridge would be ideal for me. He can defend and he overlap's the winger and delivers well. He seems to be playing a bit more for Chelsea so again he might be tough to get but then anyone worth going for is going to be tough. If we're playing fantasy football then we might as well stick Richards in for a centreback. I must admit that other than suggesting the likes of Deco (who I'm not sure would do well over here) I can't think of too many names to put forward for the attacking midfielder role that we're desperate for.
