He can definitely run with the ball more than any of our other centre mids and I remember him doing it a fair bit when he was paired with Butt last season. His passing can be a bit erratic at time but then he's rarely had any movement in front of him and when he does have his passing can look a hell of a lot better. His set pieces are definitely poor though especially when you consider what he has shown he is capable of on occasions (the goal against the makems being the prime example!).

Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me Another Lynch classic that has made up my mind to buy season two of the series on region 1 as a matter of some urgency. -

I don't think there's much of a witch hunt at all tbh. They haven't had any bad press right from the off which it could be said they deserved for their original (quite possibly) true story of leaving the bairns in the room while they went on the piss. I know most on here have criticised that but the press have been very soft on them because of the horendous situation they are in. If they are telling the truth I do feel sorry for them being accused and I know that it would be devestating to me if I was in a similar situation (not to mention extremely frustating given that I would know the police were wasting their time when they could be out looking for my daughter). The more I think about it, despite my feelings that the mother in particular has behaved strangely since this began, I agree it's difficult to imagine how they could have hid her body for weeks in an area that is being searched (and in the Portugese heat) and then retrieved it and transported it in a hire car to got knows where while the worlds media watches their every move. -
Used to be a canny player but I haven't seen him since the Itallian football went off channel 4. Nice to see we're taking more initiative to ensure Carr is no where near the starting 11!

Not exactly what you would call a vote of confidence really is it.

STEVEN TAYLOR has turned down a new five-year contract
David Kelly replied to Sever07's topic in Newcastle Forum
But at least when he's done things like this he has still gone on and put everything into his performances. I would much rather we had a player like that than someone like Luque who tbf to him didn't really complain much about his time here but then never looked like he gave a flying fuck on the pitch! -

Emre wants to leave according to the Sunday Sun
David Kelly replied to Tribal's topic in Newcastle Forum
He's rarely been used correctly for me. You could see when partnered with Butt and given the job of going foward how good a footballer he could be. The irony of it all is that with SA's prefered 4-3-3 formation and the likes of Barton, Geremi, Faye & Butt alongside he may well have prospered and become a very important part of the midfield. It appears Sam doesn't really fancy him (early days yet I know) which I find a shame as I don't think we have anyone else who is as potentially creative as Emre. I am fully aware though that there has so far been too much potential and not enough delivery! -

I don't think that's at all fair tbh Craig. Do you seriously believe Taylor should just say yes thank you to anything (and yes I know it's hardly minimum wage) just because he's playing for the club he supports? Taylor still has a lot to learn to be the real top class player many seem to think he already is, but he's been one of the few bright spots over the last couple of years being easily our best defender. He's captain of the U21's and had a call up to the England full squad. Just because at the moment Milner and N'Zogbia don't have any competition in front of them for a place does that mean they should be automatically worth a considerably better contract than the lad? Even if Roz and Cacapa are currently our best pairing they still have a long way to go before they are nailled on and Taylor remains very much part of the first team picture. While I'm not too keen on this going to the press I do beleive he has at least earned parity with the other two youngsters. Especially when you consider N'Zogbia's performances and attitude last year! -

While I agree you can't compare the two at the moment, Carragher looked nothing more than a very average premiership player up until a couple of years ago. I would say Taylor looks a better player now than Carragher did at the same age. -

That's quite a range! When you can get Kurosawa's back catalogue at £2 a pop or Miike's for £3, the 'add to basket' button does take a pounding. I think I'd probably still find it difficult to think of 40 Asian films I've heard of but I can see that site taking a hammering from me in the near future! http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...amp;hl=oriental Abraham Lincoln DW Griffith continued his rehabilatation with a glowing tribute to the man that freed the slaves. The only talkie of his I've seen, the clipped sound makes a lot of the editing appear sloppy, but I think muting out those sharp edges would mean you wouldn't notice. Apparently, this 1930 film was the last film made to cover Lincolns entire life. 80 years without another attempt must make this pretty definative. There's quite possibly not even 40 (can't be arsed to add them all up) named in that thread though tbf. And I've already got or seen a few of them anyway. I'm still struggling to see the genius in Kurasowa if I'm honest. Seven Samurai was a let down and I haven't been able to sit through all of Ran yet. I enjoyed Rashomon but I've seen a lot of better films Aisan or otherwise. Oldboy, In The Mood For Love and Tokyo Story are still my favourites with Lady Vengence, Battle Royale and Infernal Affairs after that. Actually I might get a few of them. There's over 70 in the original post tbf. It took you a while to count them. I made that last post ages ago -

STEVEN TAYLOR has turned down a new five-year contract
David Kelly replied to Sever07's topic in Newcastle Forum
If it true that he's on less than £10k a week and they aren't offering him much of a rise I can understand his frustrations tbf. From what I undertand Carroll is on £6k and he's a player who's barely figured in the first team squad let alone starting eleven. Taylor has been our best defender by some way of the last two seasons which has led to him being called up the national squad (even if that was premature). I'm not advocating stupid money for him but if you consider that Faye appears to be a squad buy and if he's on £30k I would be expecting Taylor to be offered something better than a third of that. Whilst I personally think the central pairing that played in the last game is currently our best I do believe Taylor is the future for us and I would be very upset if we were to lose him, especially if it were down to us only offering him cut price contract. And yes before anyone says it the amounts of money he's getting paid already is obscene but that's football I'm afraid. -
If we keep winning or not losing (more likely)..
David Kelly replied to Park Life's topic in Newcastle Forum
I think we played some pretty decent stuff against Wigan on Saturday and I would be pretty happy if we could keep up that standard (admittedly Wigan were crap so we would probably have to up it against better teams). But we still have Barton, Emre and Duff to come back into the squad all of whom are more forward thinking players who I would expect to help us improve our football (if Sam get more out of Duff than Rodders could). Bringing two propper fullbacks in will improve us as well as we should have two defenders who can link up with the players in front of them and it will allow N'Zogbia to move into a more attacking position. Finally as time goes on the players will become more acostomed to what Allardyce is asking of them and will be able to better put it into practice on the pitch, and if we keep winning the increased confidence that comes with that will allow players to express themselves more. I don't expect to see us playing the football that we did under Keegan or Robson this season but I do think we can expect to see a lot better than the shite we've had to put up with for the last four years. -
Done it before and it doesn't bother me in the slightest tbh. A bloke no matter what his persuasion isn't going to have much use for a tampon so no one's going to think anything else thank I'm buying them for a lass. I think it bothers the missus more than it does me really.

It's very early days yet for Roz and Cacapa but you an only say that the pair of them are looking very impressive and more accomplished than Taylor is at this stage of his career. In the short term it certainly appears that what's best for the club is to play those two. Like others though I worry that Taylor will, after becoming accostomed to first team football and tbf to the lad being one of our better players over the last two seasons, throw the toys out of the pram. It would be a shame to lose Taylor who I do belive has a very bright future and could be the mainstay of our defence for the next ten years if he fulfills his potential. It could be a much bigger test of Allardyce's man management than any issue with Harper and Given. That said, at least one of the four centrebacks is bound to pick up an injury shortly so it may not be that difficult a decision!
