He's wank at rightback too but I would accept him as back up as long as we've got a first choice who doesn't pick up any injuries or suspensions. Mind you Geremi would be my second choice for that position and I'd probably have Taylor in before him too.
-
I'm not advocating bringing bodies in for the sake of it at all. My point was if he'd had more time he might have been in a better position to find players that we could get and that would be more than just extra bodies. That he never had that chance goes some way to explaining the position we are in now. I've said it previously though that I'm happy Keegan decided not to waste money and would much rather see him go for it big style in the summer. I'm not as confident now that we'll still be in the premiership by then as was a few weeks ago.

I would never have picked Keegan as manager personally but I do understand why the descision was made and I eventually did get caught up in the excitment of the whole thing (walking into the town before the Bolton game was the most excited I'd been before a game in a long time). Now I'm deeply concerned that relegation is a strong possibility as at the moment I just can't see where our next win is going to come from. We don't look like we could beat anyone at them moment. We were so short of players that it was always going to be a struggle (I just hoped the fans could be enough to inspire a win), the Arsenal games were a right off before we even started but the last two games have been a bit of an eye opener. Boro are shite and we looked worse than them (yes had the ref and his team been better we would have won the game but that doesn't hide our inadequacies) and we were a million miles behind Villa on Saturday. I don't blame Keegan for any of this though, he inheritted the mess that Allardyce left behind and found that he didn't have the time and/or knowlege of the squad/market to make the required moves in January and he is still getting to know the players so he's bound to make some selection errors. I had hoped that he might be able to motivate them to do more than they had been but I think the timing of everything (the run of games we've had, the transfer window and the African Nations) have made everything more difficult for him. I still believe Keegan can do a lot move us back up the league next season if he gets the type of funds that have been suggested but we would have to go out and do what Chelsea did and have a couple of summers spending £100+ if we want to seriously challenge the big four (even then not being in Europe or London will give us problems attrackting top class players so reaching that level might take a lot more than Abramovic spent). That's providing my hopes that Derby, Fulham, Reading, Wigan and Birmingham are all too bad to allow us to go down pan out. If not then might be competing with the money men at QPR for players.

Aye, good point, they'd have got 2 goals each no problem. Don't even know what you're on about now. It was crying out for a change at 2-1 and Viduka for Smith and Emre for the woeful Barton were the obvious ones for me. No one is saying they'd have definitely won us the game but just sticking with what we had was tantamount to conceding the match imo. Exactly, no point having 3 subs and only using one when it's obvious half the team needs changing. We would have needed 11 subs for that second half though and certainly the five we had could have easily replaced Given, Carr, Taylor/Cacapa, Barton and Smith. TBH I would have had all five of them on from the start and I'm sure if Keegan knew a bit more about the team and Carew he would have certainly started wirth Faye.

Well this was well and truly answered on Saturday. On a day of fucking useless performances he managed to stand head and shoulders above anyone else in the fuckwit stakes. Started the rot by fucking about with the ball and losing posession which led to their first goal and then puts the icing on the cake gifting them a penalty. The worst player at the club by a country mile.
-
Moved from Lille to Lyon last summer. Not likely to pick him up on the cheap then.
-
How fucking bad was Kolo Toure last night? He was no where near his man for the second goal and I could have done better for the third. He was like a rabbit in headlights. Where does that winger who scored for the Ivory Coast play? Looks a canny player.
-
Hardly set the world alight at Preston did he? I would suspect he's not ready for the first team yet. I would let him go to Norwich with people he knows and see if they can get something out of him.

of Transmetropolitan fame? I'm guessing not. All I know is that he did the soundtrack for The Proposition with Cave as well (may of actually wrote the film with him too but I wouldn't swear to that). The Rocky Horror Picture Show. What a pile of shite. Susan Sarrandon is very sexy in it though. -

The Assasination Of Jessie James By The Coward Robert Ford. Not quite sure how I feel about it tbh. Quite slow and without a great deal of action but beautifully shot and very well acted (particually Casey Affleck who I wouldn't have expected to hold his own with Brad Pitt, Sam Rockwell & Sam Shepperd but he did) and with a fantastic score by Nic Cave & Warren Ellis. I think I might need to watch it again. -
In other words the fans don't want it but fuck them, it will make us money. Says everything that is wrong with football right there.
-
He's very skillful though. This is one player imo where Wenger missed the boat. Pace probably was the issue. I agree but I really think we need to look towards pace in the team in the summer.
-
Bentley's a good player but has he got much pace? I think we could do with a real injection of pace into the team as there's only really Martins and N'Zogbia who have any at all.
-
Wright-Phillips would be a good option. Fast as fuck which is something we're more than a bit short of, can score and put in a decent ball. Not sure we'd have much chance of getting him though. Huntelaar would, I think, be a good partner for either Martins or Owen and I think he will more than likely leave Ajax but the chances of getting him must be slim. Carrick would be worth a try. If we show him some ambition, him being a Geordie might pursuade him to come and with Manure having Hargreaves and a few other central mids they might let him go for a decent amount. Someone with his passing ability in midfield is just what we need. If we were to go for a leftback back Bridge would be ideal for me. He can defend and he overlap's the winger and delivers well. He seems to be playing a bit more for Chelsea so again he might be tough to get but then anyone worth going for is going to be tough. If we're playing fantasy football then we might as well stick Richards in for a centreback. I must admit that other than suggesting the likes of Deco (who I'm not sure would do well over here) I can't think of too many names to put forward for the attacking midfielder role that we're desperate for.
-
Why spend £10m on a class centreback and leave Taylor in with Faye with Cacapa for backup. For £10 I would expect he should at least make the bench! I don't think Martins and Owen will ever work even with Keegan prefering a much more on the ground mentality to Allardyce. I'm not sure Tozer will be ready next season even as cover and I personally think Enrique can come good. No plans for Barton and Geremi? I've never seen Arshavin play and I don't even know who Kalouda is but the others would be Bentley and Huntelaar would be good signings. Wouldn't be desperate to sign Shorey like.
-
The only problem being that Geremi will actually need 'to sit' (on a chair), with his 40 yr old legs (Mourinho). I just think if you stuck him there it would suit him and he'd link midfield and defence better than Butt who looks pretty shit atm. Plus, we've tried just about everything else. Barton looks a bit more like his old self too, especially when he moved to the centre. It's not ideal, but we're short of options in there. I watched the second half of Cameroon's game last night and while he didn't have a lot to do at rightback, with Tunisia mainly attacking down the other flank, he looked good in posession, rarely giving the ball away and knocking in some good balls. His legs never got him overlapping the winger which might support the his legs are fucked argument, but I agree he could be the best bet for sitting role as long as we manage to get someone running off him. Barton hasn't done this as much as I expected so far but he's had a very stop start time of it (to say the least) so maybe he might improve given a run. I would like to see Emre get a run though but he has to push on a lot more if that's what we're going to do.
-
This was the biggest problem with all of Allardyce's stuff from the begining. You always knew that unless he had massive success with us then whoever came in after him was just going to dispand the whole set up.
-
Who exactly is saying that they prefer the club to bring in youngsters and hope they will turn the club into world beaters over signing proven class? What people are actually saying is that they are happy we didn't just spend money for the hell of it on players that aren't good enough. Transfers take time (Woodgate's move to Spurs was well under way before Keegan was even appointed, as was Huttons) and scouting players takes even longer. Keegan simply didn't have the time to bring in the type of player that we need in January so he elected not to spunk away £8m on another Boumsong or waste time with Babayarou's or Onagooch's who do nothing but cost a packet in transfer fees and wages. January is a notoriously hard time in which to do any decent deals because clubs don't want to lose decent players as they don't have the time to find a replacement or integrate them into their team. And top players don't want to leave clubs that have a chance of winning something to move to a team that might be able to make something of themselves next year (Woodgate signed for us when Leeds were starting to get into deep shit and we had an outside chance of even winning the league nevermind qualifying for Europe). Spurs could offer a cup final and European football this season, we couldn't (something that has more to do with our previous board than our current I might add). We are in a fortunate position where we have teams like Derby, Fulham, Wigan, Birmingham, Reading and the makems below us so we're not in a desperate position where we had to panic buy. Keegan realised this and instead of gambling on a foreign player he new nowt about or filling the club with more over paid shite we can't get off the wages, he decided to keep his money for the summer when he will have a realistic chance of convincing players he knows he wants to come to the club. I believe this to be true because unlike previous managers we know Keegan would never have signed on in the first place unless he was convinced he would be given the oppertunity to spend. That is what people are happy with you muppet. But I wouldn't expect you to understand this.
-
We could do with a top quality centreback to play with Faye, a defensive midfielder to replace Butt, an attacking midielder to replace the void that we currently have, a right winger who can deliver the ball to replace Milner and a striker who can hold the ball up but is also mobile to replace Viduka/Smith/Shola. Nowt £100m shouldn't be able to sort!
-
It's par for the course for a derby game, you always get these muppets who follow the smoggies down to the station to shout abuse but never actually do anything physical. Kids who are wanna be hooligans that's all.
-
There was one point where he played an awfull ball accros the back that nearly cost us a goal apart from being generally crap in posession and in the air. It wasn't one of his worst games by a long shot but he's still way short of Beye. Butt's really struggling at the moment though.
-
Given's been poor this season for me. He never drops the clangers you see from Robinson or James but now he's not making the class saves he was either. He may just be on a poor run of form or it may now be that he's stagnated here and we should be looking to replace him.

Also, once you find the best hiding place ever in the roof of that house, and all you need to do is sit it out, why the fuck would you leave? Yeah that is a slight flaw like. Although they probably would have run out of food in there. Personally I couldn't understand why the Vampires fed on them all straight away. If I was them I would have kept them tied up and fed on them throughout the month. Greedy bastards. -
Agreed, fucking awful. He's a liability at the back, slow, shite in the air and always likely to give the ball away and he's average at best going forward. Beye on the other hand has been one of our better players this season. No brainer for me!
