  1. Aye it just got released on a special edition dvd a couple of months ago if I remember correctly. I really fancy Ran and Rashomon and I might have a look on ebay to see if I can get a cheap copy.
  2. I actully really fancy that Hidden. Like I said now that I have proved to myself I can watch a film in subtitles I'm sure I will pick more up. I know my sister has City Of God on DVD so that might well be my first stop. Unless Ong Bak is on again tonight (seems to have been on every night on Sky recently) in which case I will probably try and watch that because I was quite enjoying it despite the poor dialogue.
  3. Crouching Tiger is the only asian film I've watched all the way through and I'm embarassed to admit I watched it dubbed. There's a lot of foreign films I quite fancy (City Of God, Kurasowa films etc) but I'm always put off with the subtitles. Mainly because whenever I've tried to watch a film with subtitles the dialogue seems very poor as if they have just done a basic translation and you don't get what they are really saying. I watched a bit of Ong Bak the other night and some of the dialogue seemed laughable. After watching Amelie I think I have proved to myself that I can watch a film with subtitles so I will probably give some others a go.
  4. Amelie. The first time I've seen it (and the first time I've ever watched a totally subtitled film). Very good, just the type of film you never see coming from Hollywood.
  5. TBH if there is anyone with any sort of experience at all fit I would play them ahead of Luque now. I've had enough of his gutless 'performances' now tbh.
  6. Don't know where to begin here... okay here we go... WRONG! please don't propagate this lie (see diagram posted earlier as a perfect example) Taylor wasn't offside anyway! not because of the direction of the pass but because: a: He was simply onside from Zoggy's pass: b: Zoggy's ball doesn't even go straight to Taylor anyway, comes off Martins and a Blackburn player before it gets to him... I'm willing to go with you on the forward ball thing because they are changing the rules so often these days (although it always used to have to be a forward pass). But in what way is he not in an offside position? Which players are keeping him onside?
  7. If they play good crosses in Martins and Owen should be able to use them. The problem with playing the two of them would come from our inability to play without humping long balls up the pitch.
  8. Tevez was very good against Everton and was unlucky not to score against Wigan.
  9. The ball has to be played forward to be offside and as Fish says it was played horizontal if not backwards. So despite Taylor being in what would have been an offside position if the ball was played forward, he was onside because it wasn't. Simple!
  10. I've heard Barnard has more of a problem with his nose than his hip!
  11. By all accounts he was fantastic up front on his own against Arse the other week. But I do agree that having someone like Le Sib (or preferably someone a lot better) does help him. He had Dyer supporting him though as an attacking midfielder / 2nd striker. In any case, I don't think he'd benefit from playing upfront on his own too much. Especially in the Premier League. Has he ever really played up front on his own for us? I don't think his upturn in form can be attributed to suddenly playing with someone else. Playing with someone who is actually able to help him I would say. i'm sure martins has played the lone ranger role this season in a 4-3-3/ 4-5-1...whatever you want to call it and has generally looked a bit pap doing so. not his fault, i just think he's more suited to playing with a strike partner....much like micky owen in that respect. I can't think of a game where Martins has played on his own like but I might be wrong. Anyway I agree that he seems more suited to playing with a partner.

I would agree with you but I would also say Dyer and Sibierski would help him by playing alongside him, only in different ways. I wouldn't argue with that.
  13. But I do agree that having someone like Le Sib (or preferably someone a lot better) does help him. That's a touch harsh on the Sib. He hasn't put a foot wrong, in fact I am struggling to think of the last player to come into the club and score as many vital goals as he has... I'm not wishing to knock Le Sib because he's far surpassed my expectations of him (especially playing out of position) and he's playing well. But that doesn't stop me wishing we had better.

  16. Depends who they appoint. You never know, they may be Souness fans!
  17. I've thought for a while that he would score goals eventually. He gets enough efforts in that he's bound to put some of them away (like Cole when he first came here). His movement is also improving and we seem to be able to play to him more now. Of course it helps when you have a player like Nobby at right back who can actually use the ball!
  18. Looking at the pictures of their new owners on Saturday night I can't say I'm surprised.
  19. I think Resevoir Dogs & Paulp Fiction (one of only three films I've seen more than once at the pictures) are both works of genius tbh and True Romance is another favourite although you have to give Tony Scott some of the credit for it since he directed it. From Dusk Til Dawn is one of the best Vampire films ever made (again you have to share the credit with the director). Jackie Brown while not being a favourite of mine is still a pretty good film and anyone who gets a good performance from Chris Tucker has to be commended. I really liked Kill Bill 1 as a highly sylised fun film but I'm yet to be able to sit through all of the second one. And his screenplay for Natural Born Killers is far superior to the film (which I also liked). Overall I think he's more than warrented any praise he's received.
  20. Hughes was (as ever) talking bollocks about the goals being offside. Martins was level with the last defender, if not an inch or 2 behind him and for the second goal Zog's cross into the box doesn't go forward so Taylor can't be offside as its not from a forward pass. For the sending off when i saw it live on TV i thought straight red, but watching on MOTD i can see the argument that it was out wide and away from the goal so possibly harsh, but i don't think you can knock the ref for giving a red as he was last man and Martins was away from him. The ref had a strange game, he was impressive first half then turned to shite in the second half deciding to allow Blackburn's hatchet men to kick the crap out of our players yet booked two of ours for about the only fouls we committed! For those who only saw the highlights, Henchoz was also lucky to escape a yellow card on 2 previous occasions. I think it's very likely that played a part in Gallagher's(?) decision. Shame MOTD didn't mention it. With Martins' pace, if he had got clear of that (rugby) tackle he would have been 1 on 1, at a reasonable angle. Under FA regulations, Lucas Neill should have been pelted with bits of the stadium until he died, for his behavior. So these things even themselves out. The red card could have been classed as harsh for that one challenge alone but Sky also showed a challenge on Martins early doors that clearly warranted a yellow so the red was more than merited. Hughes is nearly as annoying as Coleman.
  21. Unfortunately it looks like virtually every premierleague club is going to end up being the target of foreign millionaires/billionaires. It's not something I particularly like the thought of but I think it's just something we will have to live with. I just hope we end up with someone who has plenty money and doesn't leave us in the shit when he pulls out.
  22. I reckon he's hid in a bin outside his house with a camera as we speak
  23. I really can't think of my more productive things to do with my time than that tbh
  24. Don't agree with that at all. Keepers should never be captain, they're worse than strikers. Your captain should be in the thick of things so ideally should be a centre midfielder then a centreback. Parker was the perfect choice for us and his performances up to that point more than merited it. The problem with Parker is the way Roeder is playing him. He is either playing him as our attacking midfielder with Emre left to sit or he is telling them to keep switching with each other. I can't decide which but either way it isn't working because Parker plays much better when he's the one to sit and Emre is much better when he attacking. When Butt is playing Roeder understands which way to play the two of them but can't seem to see the obvious with Parker. so what would you do if all three were fit? would be harsh to leave out butt on current form It's a tough one. Overall I would pick Parker and Emre and play them the right way. I think this is our best pairing. But at the moment I don't think you can drop Butt who is playing extremely well. Of the team that played on Wednesday I think the only two players that you could fairly drop would be Babayarou and N'Zogbia and it all depends on who is fit. If Parker is fit and Dyer isn't I would probably go with Emre on the left of centre (not quite left wing) and Parker and Butt in the middle. If both Parker and Dyer are fit I would probably be tempted to play Dyer on the left and leave Parker on the bench. As ever we are waiting to see how fit our players are before we can make the decision. I know this is slightly off topic but I feel I should also mention that in no way should Carr be allowed anywhere neear the team. Actually I think I will change my sig to this to save me having to type it in every post.
