One of the most bizare things I've ever heard! Terminator is fucking brilliant. I can imagine in the 80s, it would have been class, but 20 years later its just cheesy rubbish. Nonsense. Some of the special effects have inevitably dated but appart from that it hasn't aged a bit. -

I really liked Infernal Affairs and I'm really interested to see The Departed. -

Finished watching Lost Highway and it's fucking brilliant, possibly better than Mulholland Drive (although this may be due to the fact that after watching MD I understood what was going on a lot more). I can't wait to see INLAND EMPIRE now as well as some of the old Lynch classics that I've missed so far. -
Modest Mouse's new one. Best album of the year so far for me.

The Richard Chaimberlain one didn't re invent Bond the way the Matt Damon one has though tbf.

I really liked Out Of Time. I think I bought it mistaking it for Man On Fire but tbh I think I prefered it. I'm in the middle of watching Lost Highway which I think might be another masterpiece from David Lynch but my fucking DVD is acting up again. Hopefully I can finish watching in on the computer in my break. -
Aye it's apparantly pay on the gate and it looks like there is only the east stand open so no away end and not many stairs.

I've given up trying to predict our scores. I used to feel confident going into games but now I just expect us to play poorly.

Looking back Are You Being Served was fucking awfull but I loved it when I was a bairn. RIP

This is why our whole club needs a shake up tbh. I don't feel that we have any winners here at all behind the scenes or in the management. This filters down to the players and is why we always feel we are second best against the top teams. Abramovic (or whoever he put in charge of it) knew exactly what he was doing when he took over at Chelski. He brought in Kenyon who has the very best winning mentality from being at Manure and then they brought in Mourino who (as it's blatently obvious to see) has all of the confidence and winning attitude in the world. The big European clubs are run in the right way getting winners in place in all positions throughout the club. Shepherd has tried to lift us up there by splashing out big money on players like Shearer and Owen or bringing in a high profile manager like Guilit or Dagleish but he has never understood that we needed people in all positions not just one or two if we were going to make that transition.

Whereas every game seems like a LDV Vans Trophy game to us these days!

I'm not at all convinced with Roeder. The football is so uninspiring that it's beyond belief. I go to the games these days with no more expectation of seeing anything approaching entertainment than I did under Souness tbh. His decisions when he has had them to be made have been extremely poor imo. Playing with Butt & Parker in the centre of a midfield at home against a team of the Smoggies quality is nothing short of pathetic. Playing Martins and Dyer up front and then allowing Given and Shambles to hump long balls up to them all game is laughable. Spending what appears to have amounted to a third of our transfer funds on a player who's position we were decently stocked in while not doing anything about our complete lack of anything resembling fullbacks is nothing short of criminal. Bringing in only one player in January and then playing him in place of our only defender who's looked to have any hope of being of the required standard is just plain wrong. The list of his errors keeps growing while the list of the positive things remains very stagnent and in some cases seems to be shrinking. The fact that we are as high up the league as we are says more about the actual quality of some of the players that we have than his ability to get anything out of them. I still believe that we do have some good footballers at the club but I don't believe in Roeders ability to mould them into a team. We have never looked like a TEAM at any point during the season as far as I'm concerned. As has previously been alluded to, I believe the whole 'success' he achieved last season was mostly down to him simply not being Souness giving a boost of morale to the team and fans. Now that we are confronted with the reality of who our manager actually is, that morale has quickly evaporated. I don't like the idea of changing managers so often and I do concede that he's probably done as good a job as we could expect given his limited abilities and the chairman's limited expectations. But this club is big enough in terms of support, and therefore access to resources that other clubs could only dream of, to expect to be able to move forward from the position we currently find ourselves in. I cannot see this happening under Roeder so I can only look forward to the day when he is replaced and can only hope that somehow the fat man can actually deliver on his promises to get the right man in for once.

Films that you should have seen but havent...
David Kelly replied to Holden McGroin's topic in General Chat
Zulu is class like. Give it a watch. 'They're taunting us' I would say the other two are better films. Pure class. I thought Lawrence of Arabia was a pretty painfull watch tbh. Mind you I was having a massive comedown off a new year spent on pills in Ibiza so that might have spoilled it somewhat! I haven't seen City Of God yet which I hear is something I really must rectify. -

Rashomon & Three Burials of the mexican bloke. I enjoyed both of them but I did think that they both were slightly spoilled by not having a really good ending. I think what really grabs me about a film tends to be the ending and I don't think either of the endings were really satisfying. And for the record Millers Crossing is an amazing film and so is Once Upon A Time In America. -

The only thing I can come up with is not connecting with the characters in Snatch the same way as those in Lock Stock. Personally I prefered the Lock Stock characters but didn't dislike the Snatch ones. -

I think that's the reason why I liked it better than Lock Stock - I saw Snatch first. They really are quite similar. I agree, I can understand why someone would criticise it for just being more of the same but can't really get how someone could think one is good and the other shite. Because we've heard the jokes before and the film generally isn't as good? Well that's what I mean when I say it's just more of the same. I can understand and agree with that. I don't understand why you say it's generally not as good though. I think it's a better made film tbh. At the end of the day it's subjective like anything else. -

Vinne Jones has a bigger part in it, that's my main beef. But other than that Snatch just feels like a substandard Lock Stock. It still has its moments though. I don't mind Vinnie in either of them tbh. -

Spot on. Rashomon is Kurosawa's best imo I have to admit I was slightly underwhelmed by Seven Samurai but that might have something to do with recording it off one of those dodgy channels on sky with crap sound and picture quality. And constantly comparing it to The Magnificent Seven which of course has a much more familar cast to me. The story of Rashomon sounds really interesting though. -

I liked Snatch just not as much as Lock Stock because it really seemed to re hash a lot of the ideas. If Snatch had been made first I think peoples feelings on it would have been the other way round. From what I can gather Snatch seems to have been much better received overseas. Anyway I should have Rashomon sitting waiting for me tonight and that Three Burials should arrive tomorrow so I'm looking forward to watching them over the weekend.
