as much as I hate the pig, Van Gaal I fancy could do a good job for us if he's up for the challenge. I still want Sam to be given at least 2 seasons though to get all his own personnel in and play how he wants to. I think Big Sam wants SMith to be his DAvies, and Barton to be his Nolan - but this hasnt worked recently because neither Smith nor Barton has been as good at being like those direct bastards yet.

I don't actually think Ben Haim is better than Taylor. He's been found out at Chelsea for being very average and pretty slow and I'd rather we spent our money on a soilid right back if this Beye fella turns out to be a flop.

If the lad can play like he did against Italy at 22 then he may go on to be one of the finest british right backs =) Defensively he was very positionally aware, and offensively he had an engine like Cafu as well as making himself a presence aerially at set plays.

I just wish that 6 million spent on Smith was actually used to replaced what Dyer brought to our attacking play when he was fit =/ Someone like Giles Barnes could have been picked up for that in the summer but although we had 4 strikers and a reasonable central midfield we go and spend 6m on Alan Smith...

Arshavin fits the bill from the couple of times I've seen him play.

Kluivert was played with Ameobi or Shearer more than not, and bloody Souness was in charge. I'd like to see how he woiuld have done playing with Bellamy more. He was no worse than Kanu is now for portsmouth, its just portsmouth use Kanu in the proper system he should play in, Kluivert wasn't used properly for the benefit of the team. I saw Harry Redknapp talking/writing about D'Alesandro recently. He was a revelation for them when he went there on loan and is no doubt a fantastic little player, but Harry recognises that he wouldn't want him back because he woudln't fit into the system that has proved so successful for Portsmouth this season. Michael Owen apart from the odd-goal he's scored hasn't looked as beneficial to the TEAM for me as MArtins has witht he system and the way we are playing at the moment. Martins can get a goal out of nothing, has provided a couple of assists this season, and works his socks off whenever he has played under Sam. Not saying Martins is the better player, but he has proved more effective this season than Owen so I'm looking forward to seeing what he cna do now that he has a run of games to play in. How do you know Zog wouldnt do better as the attacking left forward in a 4-3-3, he's never played there for us as far as I can recall
