Michael Owen and his relationship with the toon fans
bassplayerjj replied to a topic in Newcastle Forum
WE are a much bigger club than Bolton, fan base, stadium etc. I feel he has reached a stage in his career also where he is more sensible now. Married, no longer a boy with greedy agent brothers. He knows Sam, there are a few muslims in the team, and the french speaking contingent would help him also. I never heard of him being moody at Bolton, he's got on with the job fine. Don't think it's all that unrealistic him coming here, didn't he also say in the past he wanted to come here? Souness wanted him right but got Owen because Fenerbache were being ridiculous? This is all of course if we sell Owen which will most likely not happen as all this talk is most likely a fat load of bollocks. As long as the wee man keeps scoring and stays fit, many of us I'm sure would like to keep him =) -

Anelka -
the thing is though, I didn't feel Sam's comments about England were negative. He wouldn't have put Owen on the bench on Sunday if he didn't want him to play with England. He just said that he hopes England are 'careful' with him right? Given his history this is wholly understandable tbh.
-
He may have a few fair points but why release something like this? I'll have Anelka in Jan please and flog the little'un if he wants to get all too big for the club on us.

what about that game Bramble and Boumsong had vs Chelsea? =)

Geremi has done a job in the CL for Real Madrid at right mid. Milner in my opinion may need a bit of a rest. You can't improve without taking a rest every now and then, the lad play way more games last season than one so young should. Mentally more than anything, being on the bench for a few weeks could do him good and he may get some of that freshness back.

watched game on Football First. Was expecting Martins to have played really badly in general given all the abuse I've seen. Thought he didn't play too badly apart from that miss 4 mins in. To be fair to the lad, he has no right to even be in with some of the chances he gets, because he makes most of them himself with his pace and power. 4 in 6 starts ain't the worse return. Thought the defence looked solid. Cacapa and Faye could be a regular fixture this year. Emre was the difference for us, fantastic strike, and brought a sense of urgency to the midfield at a crucial point in the game. He needs to start against spurs with Smith thankfully being out. Smith did play well yesterday up top with a couple of nice touches and the sort of aggressiveness that defenders are left confused by up top. Was impressed with Enrique also. Looks fairly dependable on that performance and made some useful tackles. His understanding with the Zog can only grow, hopefully they will end up being good mates off the field also given their similar ages, this may make a difference in on-field understanding. Team for Spurs given no injuries. ---------------------Given Beye-------Faye------------Cacapa------Enrique --------------Butt------------Emre Geremi------------------------------------Zog --------------Viduka --------------------------Martins (Owen if he's fit enough to start after internationals =/) Unleash that thug Barton if we struggling at the break =)

People are gonna think some of us are mad for possibly letting Given go after all these years of fine service. The way I see it is that Given is one of the finest shot-stoppers I have ever seen. Command of his area and kicking are two of his weaknesses however. The EPL gets more physical year by year, and Given has shone for us because of how shite the defence was and how many shots on goal he had to deal with and he dealt with them fine. If our defence is going to be more rock solid under Sam, more reliable, better at dealing with the physicality of the EPL, then I'd like a goalie who is not only a good shot-stopper, but has a good command of his area and hefty but accurate boot on him.
-
They can have him for Lennon and that big teddy-bear Huddlestone =)

Messi is a far better player, the best young player I've seen since Ronaldo at Barcelona. Completely agree with that, being saying for a while now meself. Of the other youngsters at Barca coming through at the moment Giovanni looks like he'll be a decent prospect, not so sure about a world beater though. Bojan on the otherhand could be the real deal. Did anyone see this the otherweek against Osasuna? that lad needs to learn to finish tbh
-
why's Owen such a miserable little twerp. At least when Federer wins something important the lad cries with joy about it =) Oh well, as long as he keeps scoring them...
-
That one goes out to all the Emre-Haters, CMON LITTLE MAN, SCORE ANOTHER! =)
-
This I would really like to see also. PSG fans have said that some of Roz's best performances came from DMC and I can really see this. He uses the ball so well for a defender, has two very good feet on him, and his composure in this position would be interesting to see. Cacapa and Faye would be a really physical no nonsense force to be reckoned with at the back =)

The flare thing was a whole lot nastier, unquestionably. Wasn't it loads of missiles/flares being thrown onto the pitch? and one happened to hit the big girl. Inter deserved to get thrown out for that because clearly it was many fans acting outrageously, one just had slightly better aim than the others.

And all those times that Jimmy Jump popped on, same amount of "contact" with the player made also... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw-ebY_nf5A

How's the incident any worse than a streaker running on the pitch or remember that geezer who ran on and gave the Barcelona shirt to Henry when he was still an Arse? Pretty sure it was Henry but can;t remember exactly
-
I'd rather he 'arden the fuck up than talk to the media. Lad should be changing diapers then straight off to the gym with personal trainer Mr. Muscles Faye.
-
I dread to think what would have happened if the fan had actually hit him, he'd have probably sunk into a deep coma or something. What a TIT...
-
Even that clueless scottish twat on MOTD creams his pants whenever Rooney is analysed. The boy is class. People always still forget how young he has, and he's had some bad injuries at bad times for him personally and this is only bound to make him stronger. He's strong as fuck, pretty quick, and when they are struck, they are struck like Shearer. For England's sake let's hope he keeps improving and not turn into a Kluivert by peaking far too early =/
-
Zog - Emre - Faye - Geremi 2 small creative left footers, 2 big physical africans, this is balance =) Oh and if Geremi can put in a few more passes like the one to Martins all the better.
-
to be fair doesn't Essien get like 12 hrs sleep a day? Lazy African
-
How often does Given come out and claim a cross though? One of his biggest flaws is that he doesn't command his area well enough. Same could also be said of the mighty Cech in my opinion. He's never convinced me with his aerial ability either.
-
I reckon Sam may try to force him out if he can get Jussi.
-
If Given could kick like Robinson he'd be fantastic, but he has one of the worst distribution skills of any keeper in the league which is a shame. At least he can catch a ball though, more than can be said for that trainwreck Paul Robinson =/
