1. It's just a greedy attempt to appease the Rooneys during the close season tbh.

Good Friday

I think it's the idea of not eating flesh (fish is ok though) on Good Friday because Jesus was crucified that day (don't see what's good about that like ). Traditionally Catholics in this country observe this every Friday. Disclaimer: I think! 119314 So isn't avoiding cannabalism once a year OK? You're right about catholics - Fish on Friday we were told. As much for the alliteration as anything else I suspect. 119319 It has to do with lent between Ashes Wednesday and Good Friday. Those two days are also special lent days where you are only supposed to eat one light meal. The fact that Catholics are not supposed to eat meat on Fridays stems from this tradition and not the other way round. IIRC.
3. Even if I toast the bread? 118612 50cent 118615 Only when it has nine shots of soy sauce...
4. It is a thrilling read, but it has the literary quality of HTT's posts...
5. Thing is like, I've heard loads about him, but I've honestly never seen him play. 117178 Nah, me neither. Can't stop scoring in the Dutch league is all I know. We'll make a Tommasson of him yet. 117182 I've seen him in a couple of domestic and European games for Feyernoord and a couple of Dutch internationals. He really looks like a top player, strong and prolific. Don't think you can compare him to Tomasson tbh as Kuyt is more mature and already captain of one of the top teams in the Dutch league. He is at least the calibre we should be looking at to replace Shearer. 117210 I just meant that if anyone can derail his career, we can, you dopey get. 117211 I actually know what you meant, I just wanted to state that I think why there is the (highly unrealistic) possibility why we would not be able to derail his career, you fat, debtridden bastid. 117215 Debtridden as an insult eh? Very good! 117217 Well, to me an accountant who can't control his finances is as competent as an obese nutritionist...

8. Would be a good signing, but I think with no European football he will opt for a more attractive destination...
9. Craig demoted them to a special forum yesterday that has been deleted. I don't know if they got their normal posting rights back... 117002 Got the reaction I thought we would. Job done, all back to normal! 117132 I don't f***ing care.

11. Well, I know cases of fake doctors who worked in their job for several decades and did a great job. On the other hand I do remember Graeme Souness... UEFA decided it is mandatory these days and that's how it is, moaning about it won't help. And I don't think certain knowledge in modern training, tactics and things like nuitrition do any harm to people before they start a job as football manager. In the end the game has become very professional anyway.
12. I see Paul New isn't happy about complains he gets regarding the poll... http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/....html#msg334324
13. Well, certainly better than the normal drivel...
14. Not up to me to decide, just like it wasn't on N-O. 116292 If he's looking to made this position, does that make him an asylum seeker? 116294 Not until he eats swans, best one of those with bird flu...
15. Beat me to it. 116278 OK, my next thread will be the sort of thread that everyone likes. 116281 An announcement that you won't come back?!
16. Didn't they run another poll for a couple of weeks where every week the one with the least votes got eliminated and at the end Hitzfeld was the clear winner with Hiddink coming second...
17. Another advantage of us winning the WC is that it will prove the xenophobic fucks wrong and show that a foreigner can do a job as England manager. 115694 While it will be the foreigner's fault if the world GREATEST team will go out early again. In that case under an English manager the players could have played blindfolded andwith their legs tied together and would have still won it ...
18. After this World Cup he moved to Berlin where he was a huge flop and where he only got a handful of games. Sanneh had only one season where he was a regular first team player in Jormany and that in his first season with Nuremberg who were awful and just avoided the drop. In his second season he got demoted to the bench. He also played mostly as a midfielder IIRC. Other current American international players from the Bundesliga like Conor Casey aren't setting the world alight either. And that's despite the league being piss poor these days...
19. I know that a placement at another club doesn't simply make someone a good manager. Berti Vogts went to clubs all over the world and obviously learnt nothing. It is just that I hope that a new manager would bring in a new culture to the club. And if someone (successfully) tried to copy the training and playing style of Barcelona it just would be great (not GREAT).
20. I said in the past that I am not a big fan of Ranieri who I consider more a clown than a football manager. My respect increased a bit after reading something today. During his time out Ranieri took the chance to watch Barcelonas training methods who are a bit like a revolution to todays football. Barcas fitness coach is a professor who first trained the handball team before taking over at the football team. The basic of the new training is that the most important attribute in football is pace not stamina. Therefore there aren't things like endurance runs happening in training but just short sprints and runs for 3 mins at the most. Also the ball is involved in nearly the whole training. Though, I don't know about 5-a-side games and flying tackles...
21. Chip off the old block...
22. Sanneh played for Berlin and Nuremberg and was crap. So were Landon Donovan and Frankie Hejduk.
23. Nah. But, I'm already bored by this. But I'll stick to the phrase "Gazza wept" in future...
