    At school.

Didnt ask no. Was usually too busy staring out of the window.
  2. If Tiote had pulled out a bread knife and cut the guys leg off he would have been done for that as well. As it happens, he didnt do that and much as he didnt take the bloke. I dont think you can look at what might have happened, but what did happen. Not a straight red imo.
  3. Frigging hell, even harder than the films. But anyway: Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon Roger Waters - Pro's & Con's of Hitch Hiking Metallica - Black Album
  4. Kinda what came into my head. I read and thought, is that it? Not impressed with his taste either.

Taken on the Millenium Bridge. I liked the two textures of the fallen leaf against the brushed metal of the bridge.
  6. Ummm. Top of my head. Fawlty towers, Black Adder, bit stumped for 3rd so I'll go for Peep Show.
  7. You know what the worst thing is about my description? In my youth I could have qualified for some of it I used to stand on the street corner supping a bottle of cider (hate the stuff now). Though when I moved on to Aceeeeed, we didnt drink as much. Used to like the odd spliff as well. Thats nowt to do with being a charver though, I think much of it is attitude. A shit one at that.
  8. Are chavs and charvers really the same thing? They have different connotations to me. I was just under the impression chavs were from down south and charvers were from Newcastle. Whats your definition? I don't really have one, but the southern chavs you see on the likes of that documentary don't really seem like Newcastle charvers, Liverpool scallies, or Glasgow neds. I get the impression chavs can be quite wealthy, for instance buying designer clothes, but have no class. Isn't Julie Burchill a self-confessed chav? Whereas here, being a charver is more than just having a bad fashion sense and mindset, its about being part of an underclass. Could be wrong like. My impression of a Charver is the stereotypical Elswick mob hanging around talking out of their nose, listening to happy house & calling each other a radgie. They'll drink WKD or cans of lager on street corners and get fog on from their mates 20 a day habit of Regal. They'll hate the police though won't really know why and have fun throwing their empty bottles at passing fire vehicles. Their mastiff dog will be called Cowie and their Mothers will be about 13-15 years older than them. They will have gold hanging from every limb having not realised how much they could make weighing it in, they will walk like they have displaced hips and their nasal tone will want to make you put your foot through their face. They have the inability to be alone, much like a pack of dogs. Also like a pack of dogs they will have no issue in shitting on their own doorstep, whatever form that takes. They all sign on but think its shocking that they only get however much they do as it barely covers the cost of their regular "ounce".
  9. See I wouldnt object to increasing the % of tax at higher levels. Right now its something like £325K. I also havent taken anything from my parents (well, since I left home that is!) and everything I have I've worked for. But, surely it's just natural for every parent to want to ensure their children, and their children etc have the best possible lives they can. It's natural to want to provide for them (maybe in the hope that when Im an old gibbering wreck they will look me somewhat). I know it's easy to look at someone who has had a £1M estate handed to them and say they dont deserve it etc. But at some point it's likely their parents worked their bollocks of so they could be in that position. Not always, I know. I also would have more respect for someone who had at least worked and then came into the money. I know with my kids, while I want to provide for them and hope to build up a "nest egg" to help them with education and maybe housing, I would certainly want them to stand on their own feet and make their own living just as I did.
  10. There's some relationship between income and class obviously, but this is largely true. I was born into a middle class family but we were much poorer than other families around us who had a more working class background. Class snobbery is stupid anyway. You have no more choice into which class you're born than you do what colour or religion you're born into. Fwiw there seems to be a lot of inverse snobbery on this board. There used to be a canny poster on here called Northern Soul who was a bit of a Billy Bragg type. Canny poster but he had an almost psychological hatred of the middle classes, I could never get my head round it. On the other hand, got to admit I don't respect the true upper classes, the Landed Gentry. We should put up inheritance tax to 90% to eliminate these parasites. Everyone should get, or at least have the potential to get, what they work for. I believe in meritocracy. I agree that class snobbery is stupid. Also that its not just about wealth. But, I don't agree with a hike in inheritance tax. I'm working my bollocks off right now and doing ok. But, why do you think I'm so keen to work hard?
  11. Who do you think reads the message board to him?
  12. Every time I've seen him I've thought he was shite and out of his depth. Obviously I was wrong based on last night. I'm not about to start saying he's solved our 2nd striker problem, but I am now interested in seeing more of him. See how he does against a half decent side. Certainly done no harm one way or another. I've been surprised he jumped ahead of Ranger. Though maybe after last night I can see why.
  13. Is there any point in trying to make a point in these fucking threads when they always spiral down to the same tedious arguement?
  14. from @NeilFarrington "Disturbing whispers from London of a straight cash deal between Spurs and Nufc for Carroll."
  15. Actually, following "famous" people is pretty pointless 9/10. Journos yes. The whole thing, that you are missing, is it is social media. You generally follow people of similar interests that you can discuss things you both may like. Football being the obvious example. Its also a micro blog and you would see people again talking about subjects you may have an interest in. As a taxi driver, you wont get that as the patter is usually one way

    What do you prefer

I take it you're the one with long hair?! Aye and I would like to take a moment to tell everyone that it's not Bill Bailey long hair either. Locks that the short back and sides brigade could only dream of having They'd never admit to it though! Like shite My hair gets over 2" on my head and it gets irritable as fuck.
  17. Gah can't see how I could pick three. I could probably say these today and pick another three tomorrow. But, for the sake of it. #1 - The Lord of the Rings #2 - Alien #3 - Empire Strikes Back Shawshank Redemption should really be there as well...
  18. Only kids clothing is VAT free. ....and the fact that food suppliers will be paying increased vat on stuff like fuel means they'll add it to the cost of food indirectly. No, they will claim the VAT back surely as a business? ...but.... "Food costs have risen 5.5 per cent over the past 12 months, outpacing the overall inflation rate of 3.3 per cent." So VAT related or not...cost of living is rising above the rate of inflation. Ah yeah I agree with that, just not about VAT being that big a deal (to the majority of people, course it will some but I don't think it's something that would drive us back into negative growth unless the media put the shits up everyone).
  19. No you're wrong. It will cost you an extra £2.13 (rounded up) per £100. My workings An item that currently costs £100 contains 17.5% VAT therefore the actual cost of the item £100/1.175 = £85.11 £85.11* 1.2 (20 percent VAT) = £102.13 Is the right answer. Or, for people who spend say £1000 a month on "stuff", it will cost you around another £21. I agree that some companies are taking the piss and putting stuff up higher, but for each of those I reckon there is a company absorbing the increase and keeping prices the same (more likely on larger purchases like white goods).
  20. Only kids clothing is VAT free. ....and the fact that food suppliers will be paying increased vat on stuff like fuel means they'll add it to the cost of food indirectly. No, they will claim the VAT back surely as a business?
  21. After the wistam game. They hold these announcements back as potential 'water calmers' if results go against the team to try and off-set the rage from the riff raff. I could, of course, be wrong?? Waiting until Carroll is shipped out so it can be seen that the funds from Carroll partly funded this deal.
