1. Given the standard of opposition in the UEFA these days, I'd hope we'd get that far TBH... 187298 Given the standard of our defenders, and our lack of strikers, we'll be lucky. 187300
2. 1 defeat was a cup game too.....his form would see us in a very strong league position 118307 Premiership record is.... Played 10 Won - 6 Lost - 3 Drew - 1 Lost to Liverpool,Manu and Charlton. IMO at the end of the season his Premiership record will read.... Played 15 Won 10 Lost - 3 Drew - 2 That would be Impressive IMO. Roeder hasnt exactly had much of a squad to work with and concidering his main Strike Force has been Shearer and Ameobi is even more impressive. 118315 If he manages that then he's done bloody well and i'll be all for a Roeder Shearer management team, 2 year contract with 2 year optional extension.
3. Most we can hope for is 7th imo baring miraculous results and as i understand it 6th carries a Ufea place and 7th doesn't. Inter toto is the only way we'll get to Europe imo and may not be a bad option if someone new comes in, as he'll have time to gel with the players.
4. Agreed! Nothing to suggest he won't at the moment though. Didn't rate him at all after his west ham spell tbh, but credit where credit's due people learn and improve, he's done a canny job so far for us and if he can continue that till the end of the season then i'd give him the job on a year or two's contract. With Hiddink and Hitzfeld seemingly out the picture le guen gone to rangers and o'neil possibly going for the England Job we may be running out of suitable candidates anyway. Sven's got a great cv so woulden't be disapointed there IF he wants it. Big Phill Scholari'sa good candidate IF he wanted it (seems to prefer international coaching) Who says big sam, Jewell etc would do a much better job? But Roeder and Shearer know the club inside out, Shearer's Toon through and through i'd love it if they could be successfull with the Toon! Two guys that actually love the club and really care, not a mercenary brought in with no connection to the club at all. Hopefully Shepherd will let them see out the season and if they continue as impressively let them carry on next season.
5. erm i don't really see your point Rob? Remember it was soumess who guided us to 14th last year and after finishing 4th 3rd and 5th the seasons before aswell as kicking out Bellamy ! After spending £50m we were looking at relegation this season.. ..untill that is Shepperd chucked Roeder and Shearer in to take over the helm and not only picked up more points than any of us could realistically have expected but have us playing good football again too! If O'neil or Hitzfeld or Hiddink etc did that some people would be creaming their pants over what they could achieve next season! 118650 as I said I'm not, and never was, a Souness fan - what we got was what I expected all I'm saying is that the stats don't show the AMAZING improvement in performance some people think Roeder has done well to restore morale and to get good performances out of people that GS had left in shreds and heaven knows where would have finished if he'd stayed 118770 Well we kind of agree then. Roeder and Shearer have for me done a better job though than we could have expected any manager to come in and do. We didn't play well against man u or liverpool who were two teams finely tuned and on fire, i was a little disapointed with the way we played but only hoped for a draw against the pool tbh. Charlton we could have beaten, but didn't go our way and we've won the rest of the premiership games and deserved a draw at chelski in the cup imo. Overall we've been great since Roeder and Shearer took over especially considering the mess we were in. If they carried on next season it would be very interesting.
6. Cheers Toonpack! Go on the Shola! I'd love it just love it if he were to continue his current form!! i'd written Bowyer off tbh

8. Roeder and Shearer for the Toon!!! After being chucked in at the eleventh hour with the club in a right state staring at a relegation battle they have done amazingly well it has to be said. If they can turn us round in so quickly in a manner that O'neil, Hitzfeld, Hiddink etc would be praised to the skies for, it begs the question are they the men for the job? They are after all proving that they are! What more could we have realistically asked for? What could they achieve in a season?
9. It does beg the question if Roeder and Shearer managing can turn us arround so quickly, thrown in at the eleventh hour what could they do over a whole season? Tempted to find out personally.
10. No way sell Boum for £3m back to Rangers! We'd be the biggest mugs ever! He could have a great World cup yet which will help his value, so deffo wait till after that unless we get a great offer in before then. I haven't given up on Boum completely yet, he could still come good imo once he sorts his head out imo Luque i'd take £6-7+m for right now though, it very plain to see he's just not suited to the Premiership and its better for all parties he goes back to spain.
11. Come on lads and lasses that saw the whole game where's the player ratings? Non on here, non on anywhere and can't even get on newcastle on line (again). Don't trust the papers.
12. The only way we should have him back is pay as you play anyone who gives him a 3-5 year deal shoulden't be too shocked to only get 3-5 games out of him. I can't see him voluntarily jacking in his contract with Madrid and madrid have nothing to gain by paying his contract up early and packing him off. Could possibly be used in a deal if they still fancy Luque. Crying shame for the lad though as he's the best defender i've ever seen at the Toon!
13. Yes it looks like 6th will be the cut off point and thats not achievable imo bar a miracle However the intertoto will be a great way for our new manager to have a bit of time with the players before the season starts and we have a great chance of qualifying that way and we can certainly get in that way.
14. Parker has been our player of the season imo One good Bowyer performance and that hasn't changed.
15. He looked good no doubts early days yet though!
16. Bullshit tbh Parker's better than all the above ! He needs to get forward more its true though imo
17. Luque + cash for Torres! I'd love to see Tuncay here so if we could get 9m back for Luque from barca or madrid sign Tuncay!
18. I never saw for one moment why we offered £8m+ for him. A good friend of mine who's a ST holder at Rangers was as puzzled as me - he suggested it was good old 'Souness' doing his mate (Rangers chairman whos name escapes me) a good favour. After 3/4 games I could see he was a ball watcher and tactically poor. I knew from the first moment Souness was appointed it would end in disaster. 108672 I was gutted when we appointed souness as manager, when we signed Boum for £8m i thought it was too much but Rangers fans i know rated him. I thought Boum was quality that first season and really did well. He's been very 'patchy' since the Man u game at the toon, can't help thinking maybe due to his personal problems tbh
19. Probably working out how to spend the millions we are giving him in compensation. Ferrari or Porshe, villa in spain or carribean hmmmm If he was a propper bloke he would have done the decent thing and resigned. We should sue him for compensation imo after the mess he made.
20. I'm all for Roeder and Shearer atm. Really hope they do well. Bit too early yet though lets see how he does in the next 6 games and things will be clearer still!
21. What? What are you saying? What are you talking about you mentalist? WHAT? 104838 Agreed have you got the right website? Had a few too many lunch time??
22. Then who would you put at right-back smart-alec? 104825 M.Taylor or move s. Taylor there and play m. taylor CB It'd depend whats going on in the game, if we are losing and need to take a gamble to score then Nobby's played there before and stick Milner RW or Just Stick Milner RB with license to charge up field! Meite may make RB his own and then having Ramage on the bench is great as he can fill in anywhere along the back four. All figured out!!
23. GIVEN RAMAGE TAYLOR BOUM BABA SOLANO PARKER EMRE ZOGGY TUNCAY OWEN Of that team i picked the only one we haven't got is Tuncay. The odds are we won't get him but we need 2 strikers come the summer Tuncay would be my preffered realistic option (aiming high i know), but Anelka, Kuyt, Gudjohnsson plus say Nihat should be the type of players we are looking at. Whats your idea's then lads?
24. That and he's forgotten Shola on any of his lists there- not sold, released, made the squad or subs. Has he been relegated to being the unofficial team mascot? (makes one beg to wonder what sort of damage he could do in that capacity) 104773 If you're taking it seriously, then there's no centre-back on the bench, and no real way to swap them around if a centre-back is injured. Move over Souness, maybe. 104775 So Ramage coulden't play CB ? M. Taylor could at a push too! You could put Bramble n the bench for Hassan if needed. Not expecting that to happen so not meant to be deadly serious, but none of that is too outrageously far fetched imo
