  1. Its only 1 down 4 to go - Jimenez went a while ago, but Vetere, Wise, LLambias, and Ashley are still there http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Jimenez http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Vetere Bit out of date seeing as 2 of them have left "One down, four to go!" underneath
  2. I think we can take BBC Sport as a definitive guide: Looks like £85 should be the donation. Still if it keeps Baggio off the boards, I'm sure we could find 85 people to donate £1 each!!
  3. to be fair we were shite in the next game at home to bolton and lucky to get the 3 points. hardly pulled up trees against arsenal and coventry as well. was very much pro-Keegan, but we just had a good day at the office at old trafford, and man u were off song and missing ronaldo as well. if Keegan had been backed at the end of the transfer window, then things may have been good, but if he'd stayed after being screwed (and had similar injury problems) I'm fairly sure we would be safe, but not a realistic european option
  4. Not as much as I hope you are........... what's all that water doing behind your ears
  5. well I didn't do too badly on the post match interview, but definitely didn't predict sending n'somnia into a massive hissy fit btw, jfk's latest gaffe http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/sport/sport-...7-200901301546/
  6. ease off on all the topics mate. the internet will still be around tomorrow!!! plus, there's a general chat forum for this sort of thing, and i'm sure there must be a topic there with this sort of info already anyways, motd beckons
  7. shay will improve them hart looked hopeless today, and nearly managed to give us an equaliser. its strange cause hart burst onto the scene and looked good when sven made him the no.1, but he seems devoid of confidence. i guess shay will be a great person to learn from, especially about making the most of your strengths when you're a relatively small keeper
  8. point 1/ should have had a penalty point 2/ would have won if barton and owen didn't get injured point 3/ blame the squad he inherited point 4/ serious bids for 3 players, including one who will make an instant big difference. got a meeting arranged tomorrow with mike and llambias point 5/ referee is a clown/mickey mouse/childish insult OK so its my predictions, but feel free to play joe kinnear bingo. once all 5 points are mentioned you win a prize. Prize will be null and void if jfk offers a reasonable excuse for a limp 1st half performance, but thats not going to happen
  9. so thats our 4 best players probably/definitely missing on sunday: given owen barton jonas
  10. Just over a month has passed and it looks like we have SHOCKINGLY failed to have a brilliant transfer window, have failed to suddenly undo the deep rooted injury crisis after crisis phenomenon that has become intrinsically associated with our club, and seem to be streets ahead of the opposition in terms of managerial/financial incompetence. Anybody still wanting a shovel and a supply of sand, or have the knee-jerking headless chickens come to roost?
  11. I think its fairly clear from the messages through the thread that I have a spare ticket. However, at least you're keeping the thread bumped!! Update: Decided to treat myself post exams by picking up tickets to the Sunderland game. Bought 3 together off nufc seatexchange for approx £60 each, but my friend's dad passed away today and naturally he's got much much much more important things to deal with
  12. Thanks I hope so, but just a bit wary that most people who will want tickets probs have them already on the bedside table. As cracking a game/atmosphere as I hope it will be, nearly £90 each is a bit much really!! Any tips from anywhere on where else would be a good place to post if I've had no joy. Only really read/post here in terms of forums.
  13. Update: Decided to treat myself post exams by picking up tickets to the Sunderland game. Bought 3 together off nufc seatexchange for approx £60 each, but my friend's dad passed away today and naturally he's got much much much more important things to deal with. As shit as it makes me feel to think it, this does leave me somewhat in the lurch (although it very much puts any of my small problems into perspective). Basically I have a spare ticket for Sunday in the Milburn Stand L1B, and I understandably haven't been able to convince any of my friends to make a long (and pretty pricey) journey to watch 2 teams they're not particularly interested in. The tickets have a £50 face value, but I'd listen to any reasonable offer. Bear in mind the ticket will be for a seat next to me for the whole 90 mins, so a very derogatory offer may not be wise!!!!!! The trip to St James was as a present to myself seeing as I've got my final final medicine exam on thursday (and hopefully will be shortly joining luckyluke in the wonderful world of the nhs). So, if it sways any interested parties, I can offer substandard medical advice on any ailments. Anyone interested, please get in touch ASAP Cheers

  15. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...uth/7850798.stm "Hayden and Pele have been on our radar for some time," said Portsmouth executive chairman Peter Storrie. "They will add strength to our midfield. Central midfield is an area we have needed to strengthen - that's why we brought in two players." Someone care to explain to me whats just happened. They've realised that they are lacking in the central midfield area, and then they have signed 2 central midfielders, one a solid (if unspectacular) more defensive player, and the other a young attacking midfielder on loan. Sheer madness tbh. Surely you're supposed to wait a good 5 years, and never really address the pivotal position that is completely lacking, and splurge the cash on Xisco DOES NOT COMPUTE (p.s. I do realise that they are unlikely to turn the team into world beaters... but its a sensible and low risk approach)
  16. Just realised that if someone is a whizzkid at this sort of thing they might want a bit firmer details: 1/ Oxford to Sheffield on Friday/Saturday 2/ Sheffield to Newcastle - day return on Saturday or Sunday to watch a big game 3/ Sheffield to Cardiff on Tuesday 4/ Cardiff to Oxford on Friday/Saturday found a 7 day rover that allows travel on all lines, which would be £245 with a railcard - but I'm guessing singles would be cheaper http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/...4e/details.html any help?
  17. Got a week off coming up, and I was hoping to catch up with some old friends. Basically that will involve travelling from the south of england to the north east, then down to yorkshire, then onto cardiff, then back to the south. I've worked out that I will be making 3 single journeys and 1 return over a period of 9 days at most. I've got a young persons railcard, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any other way I could cut down the expensive rail costs, apart from booking in advance. Are there any 1 week passes that aren't hideously expensive that would suit me? Or perhaps a single website that could work out the cheapest fares Cheers
  18. Looking to get to St James' Park for the first time in the next couple of months. Have been to see Newcastle away from home quite a few times, but never made it to the Toon. Any tips on where in the ground I should try and get tickets. Person I'd be bringing along is a fairly meek individual so perhaps not in amongst the most hardcore of fans would be wise... especially given the current climate surrounding the club Same for a relatively peaceful place to go before/after for food/drink Cheers. p.s. I promise to not buy any pies, merchandise, etc. if anything, I'll steal some!!
  19. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...ng-session.html just pre-empting tomorrow's follow up news story. in other news, Joe Kinnear has slapped in a last minute £1 bid for a KFC bargain bucket, and expects to have it in place within the next week
  20. Thats the problem if there's not the infrastructure to keep a man who had not had a job offer for years, then who is going to come. Either Chrissy (Hughton) will step up again, Dennis Wise/Poyet may decide to give it a go, but I literally can't think of anyone else who'd go for the job.....maybe Souness??? Heres hoping... You obviously have a lot of faith in Hughton
  21. I honestly thought we were going to win the UEFA Cup under Souness. We had a powercut at home with an hour gone, and power came back just as stoppage time began. I take full responsibility for this, and the subesquent demise since then http://soccernet.espn.go.com/report?id=182...mp;&cc=3888
  22. "I want to be judged on what I bring in" Its a cunning plan. If he brings no one in, then no one can judge him. Foolproof tbh
  23. Its surprisingly sensible from Joe, but why oh why would you play a full strength team for 2 meaningless FA cup games if we don't even have 11 fit players. We've got all these youngsters who we've signed, they should have been playing against Hull and resting the "proper" players for the games which may decide our fate.
