  1. Because he's a limited defender who seems to think he's great, prone to play-acting, his faux-organising pointing and shouting at people when more often than not he's out of position himself and his always-last-man-off-the-field-shirt-off-clapping-his-hands-above-his-head routine is rather tiresome. To be fair, I don't mind this. The rest annoys me, but the thing that drives me mad is that I thought he was going to be a good premiership centre-back (which we've not had a plethora of, tbh), but he seems to have got worse as him role within the team/media has become more prominent. I think we nearly always look a better team without him than with him these days, which was the opposite when he burst onto the scene. Bit sad that the youngsters who did so well against united (ramage, taylor, huntington, and edgar) have all failed to take the next step, and have if anything regressed as they should be maturing as defenders
  2. Preparing for fighting talk "Defend the Indefensible" to be honest FYP FYP Have you been made chairman of the shola and taylor appreciation society today or something?
  3. To be fair he's hardly the chirpiest person in the world. On some sort of 3 day binge moan http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...sult_type=posts However the "clueless cunts" that you so highly speak of had a selection of questions agreed with the reporter, all of which were with the proviso that if they arent answered then it will be made clear in the article thats what happened. So you'll know if any of those damning ones were refused because it will say "No Comment" or the like. NUSC are money grabbing attention seeking arseholes , the idea is right but it's ran by whinging old cunts who have published nothing but cringeworthy statements through TF. Ouch.
  4. Doing a reasonable job on the right, that's also 2 goals in 2 games he's manufactured. To be fair Parky, thats more ridiculous than all your UFO/conspiracy talk!! The number of goals Steven "Geordie Boy/Ace" Taylor has been responsible for (or should have been good enough to make it harder for the opposition) far outweighs chipping in with the odd goal/assist/pointing. He just isn't progressing, and has arguably got worse, with regular football.
  5. A transcript has just been leaked online: Press Officer: Lets begin with the Chronicle Llambias: Which one of you is Lee Ryder? Ryder: I am Llambias: You're a cunt. Press Officer: That concludes the Question and Answer session. Same time next year?
  6. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/s...bci/7631245.stm I quote Tim Krul's reaction on seeing our representative in this modern day institution Unbelievable!!
  7. They won't go down. Much more worried about us. At the moment its a surprise when Spurs drop points against any team in the bottom half, but I don't feel the same when its us. Since just before xmas I've said it would be West Brom, Stoke and (controversially) Hull, and I'll stick to my guns. I think we'll only be a couple of points clear, whilst Spurs will be a good few points clear. Feel free to drag this up, and point and laugh at the end of the season. btw, its a good thing chelsea got so many points on the board early on...............
  8. one of the mods mind changing the title to "funny pictures and unfunny banter thread"
  9. actually, its incredibly depressing that the delerious dreams of a relentless optimist still have 3 of the current midfield starting.
  10. Oh my, the relentless optimism, it burns, it burns Geordie Lad, I think even that fully fit midfield is a fairly wide of the mark (/ alan oliver) of being a good midfield. Jonas has been promising but is currently flattering to deceive. He looks good because he actually has a bit of pace and can take on a man, but the amount of times he gets into a decent crossing/shooting position, and seems to get scared is very worrying. Rather than trust his abilities, he seems to play a pointless little pass to the full back/central midfielder, and either that pass is poor and gets intercepted, or is then wasted from a less promising position than if Jonas backed himself. It may well be that by next season he backs himself, and we see that he has a killer final ball, but you wonder that if he did, why were we able to get him (btw i do actually love jonas, but am not blind to his faults) On the other side, Damien Duff has been near hopeless for the last 2 (and maybe more) seasons, and the fact that he managed to pick up a useful goal, and ACTUALLY raced passed a defender once in both the past 2 games against poor opposition, does not suddenly mean he is the Duff that used to play with Robben and Drogba (or whoever in that 433). He is still far from being a dangerous winger, and the only danger he seems to offer is when he doesn't track back and leaves the full back exposed. Duff would have to up his game considerably, and probably maintain is to the end of the season, before I saw him as being a good midfielder/winger again. Onto Nolan and Barton. Don't get me wrong I love this central midfield partnership, but thats mainly because of the absence of Nicky Butt (who I sometimes think hampers us more than starting with 10 men would!!). But to be a good central midfield partnership it would involve both players being back at their peak after Nolan became pretty ineffective for Bolton the last season and a bit, and Joey hasn't looked a decent midfielder since he thought that assaulting team mates and kids near Maccy D's would be a good way into the England team. Now its possible that a new start may get Nolan going again and becoming capable of influencing games against decent midfielders, but he's had 2 games against the mighty Sunderland and WBA, by no means enough to judge someone on. As for Joey, the only reason his (very brief) spells in the team are looked on positively is because of the shower of shit that he's come in for. He's not really bossed any games, or been a huge influence with passing, tackling, or driving from the midfield... its more that he's not Cacapa/Butt/Geremi. I think the Barton that was on the cusp of the England team is gone forever, but of course he will get better should he manage to string together a decent spell in a (maybe not us) team. Basically, thats my long winded deconstruction of why we have a "good" midfield. Its probably irrelevant as we'll never have those 4 fit. I think its one of those scenarios where whilst we would have 4 players with pretty good stats on Football Manager/Pro Evo/insert other game here, but they are actually (on current/realistic abilities) 3 players past their peak and Jonas (who I fear will not be anything but a solid yet entertaining midfielder). I think they'd be good enough to keep the team clear of relegation but not much else, but then there's a reason why they've only cost approx 20 mill (jonas 6, barton 6, nolan 4, duff 5) and they've joined a struggling team But hey, I would love it if that foursome fires us back into Europe next season, and would be incredibly happy to hold my hands up. Plus Nicky Butt isn't in that midfield, which is a massive plus.
  11. bumpity bump just to show that I'm not just going to drag this up post-defeats, and hide it when we win. great (unexpected by me) 3 points, but I still think we will be in there until the end of the season. I think the win was more a reflection on the shockingness of West Brom's defence rather than yet another corner turned... but hey, I'd love to be proved wrong. there's no game I look at now and expect a better result than when I looked at the fixture list yesterday. although to be fair the transfer window has had a marginally less traumatic overall effect on our squad than I had expected (mainly due to n'somnia reducing his effectiveness/importance in the run-up to his exit) still, whether we're knee-jerking or burying heads in the sand, its going to be a fascinating ride....wherever the end destination
  12. top notch journalism from the sun http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...icle2216052.ece I don't think we've won any games that we've trailed in at any point (although I would love to be corrected). To be fair there's not many excluding today where we've been pegged back and then scored again

  14. Is that Wise's mind control device that you can see a sliver of behind ashley's head
  15. Nailed on draw in my opinion. We'll be in the bottom 3 come sunday night. HAHA what was that? To be fair, you're hardly nostradamus yourself, are you?
  16. Could Revolver be Kinnear? The "hospital" would be the perfect alibi for a concerted anti-N'somnia campaign...
  17. Couldn't watch/listen to the game, just had to follow the board/live text. Did Lovenkransd/Lovenkrands/Lone Rank NDS play off Ameobi (well, as far as it is possible to play off Ameobi), or did he hug the touchline?
  18. I think I should get the credit because I am a massive pessimist, but I feel my attempts to take the piss out of the optimists inspired the team. Well it couldn't have been Chrissy Hughton could it perhaps calderwood is the new keegan.... score 1 more than you...yadda yadda
  19. Team looks great 3-0 to the toon - Martins 8, Duff 27, Nolan 83 /Geordie Lad and 2bias
  20. 50,000 Dennis Wise masks is the way forward tbh
  21.
