I'm not a moralist (I'd like to think I'm very liberal), just trying to see both sides of it. I am actually against this show, but just emphasising the Dutch often have a different attitude to these things!

Spoken to two Dutch friends about this and both of them think it's a good idea for a show! One of says this It doesn't seem to have created much of a fuss there at all. Maybe it's just a different mentality.

Like Kenneth says, it's only about 35p a day, I spend more than that on gum! And the reason you can't 'not watch' BBC and not pay is because the license pays for the radio and web as well, which can't really be blocked. When you think of all it pays for (about 7 TV stations, 50 odd radio stations, probably the best news site in the world) it is excellent value for money.

When you watch the whole programme, it does seem fairly understandable that he loses it.

I think he will be very much missed, but it will take a while before it sinks in. I think the period from 97-2001 will be regarded as one of the best political periods ever, especially with regards to constitutional reform.

If you read the quotes, he's not saying he had total English support, just that some England people come up to him and say he did a good job, which is probably true. Headline writers are usually fairly clueless!

Basically, there was an idea that to liven the forum up, there would be a weekly vote on who had been the biggest wanker. The 'winner' would have their 'member' thing replaced by that green wanking smiley for the rest of the week. Quite what it was meant to achieve I'm not sure, but it was quickly dropped!
