we've talked about it (marriage) and we're both ready. the question was just about whether or not anyone felt pressure to spend 3 months salary or not. really she's not going to know enough about diamonds (and neither do i) to be able to tell the difference between two stones. one bought at 3 months salary and another at significantly less. she's not flashy, but i'd like the ring to reflect how I feel about her. diamonds are forever, and i'd like her to know that this will be as well. (yeah Parky i know you think i'm being naive)

I've found it's about the cut as well, if you get an oval cut diamond they appear larger (from the top) than a similar weight round cut they can have dead spots in the reflection of light but not if you get a high enough grade cut cheers!
