  1. Standing in a field talking to some youthful lad and he goes 'they've got absolutely no mdma in them but they're only 3 quid' to which i replied 'give us 10 then'. My mates still bring that up as evidence of my idiocy. Bought some oregano in cruddas park once. \ I dont drink tea.
  2. 2% above the median could mean that 9 teams have wages bills 30m below ours. The massive wage bills of 3 or 4 clubs might drag the mean up but not by as much as you expect given the bottom quartile(s) have massively lower bills. Not saying you're wrong, just that your 'given' statement added nothing for the statistically minded.
  3. Triple dip recession with high unemployment for 4 years. That's what was predicted and its still not over. It was avoiding the last 4 years of shit that was the point of the debate. The policies that prolonged the Great Depression of the 30s arent now correct because that's over either. Let's be clear though, you blamed Labour for the financial crisis because of all their 'over spending' on the NHS.
  4. You've spent the last 4 years on here blaming Labour. It pains me to have to point out the cause of the downturn in growth, so I won't.
  5. Probably because they watch a lot of teams like Dortmund, Bayern and Barcelona. Which of their players is not disciplined when not in possession of the ball? Is there room for a passenger in a modern football team? I love Benny but if he is 'off his game' he has to remain disciplined and play for the team.
  6. In Germany tonight, Munich as usual though. It's a bizarre place Bavaria. I am at the hotel restaurant. I got told off because I just wandered down to get some food without making a reservation! Pumpkin soup and braised ox cheek if you're interested.
  7. Could be in the big bucks Is that shorthand for buckfast?

  9. Looking at your post earlier. The teams on the up, investing and spending are more than compensating for the additional strains. The clubs that didnt have the resources or the owner to do that (us, Fulham, Villa, Stoke) all did worse. Its virtually impossible to disentangle the impact of resources spent, the changing speed and fitness levels of the game, the levelling of the premier league field in terms of spend across the league etc etc. It renders analyses across time too complicated. Looking at it simply, Laudrup said it doesnt make a difference. For his teams, in his circumstances, it looks like it has. Loads of other factors going on, from club to club and manager to manager, with different players there will be different abilities to cope with extra games. I just assume this was Pardew's way of blaming Ashley without saying it directly. The EL does make a difference, you can compensate for it by actually improving the squad depth and quality. If you dont, it will have an impact. Not true for everyone but for some.
  10. None of this changes the fact that of the 6 games Spurs and Swansea have played after the EL since September, 3 losses, 2 draws and 1 last minute win against a shit Cardiff. There are too many confounding facfors just to hoy up points won over the 3 separate seasons as proof that the above form is not related.
  11. An advert for Vagisil underneath would have made it.
  12. I bought an advent calendar yesterday and showed our lass a youtube of the John Lewis ad (for some reason the frogs love that shop). Shocking.
  13. I said why i think its more relevant. You get one day less break from the EL and one day makes all the difference to training, fitness and preparation. Its not the be all and end all, you're right to point out teams who it has not affected but its an issue for Spurs and Swansea this year and us last year. I think Stoke had the same issue too. Maybe not for everyone but its a factor. We finished 3rd that year, something Swansea are certainly not capable of and therefore they are more likely to be affected. They dont have the quality we had to deal with it (or arguably the quantity either, we had quite the squad in them days).
  14. The argument from AVB that their energy was better in the second half is specious too. For that to be true it means 'making a sluggish start due to a mid-week game' is impossible and that 'the energy displayed in the second half of a game is purely down to attitude and not the score, crowd, performance of the opposition'. None of which holds up to scrutiny. Laudrup said the same, we all know he was talking shit.
  15. My point is that 4 days is not 2 days, once you've had the extra days rest it doesnt matter if its 4 days or 8 days. Its also about training and preparation. 1 extra day makes a difference. It doesnt really matter what i think or whether people's noses are out, the evidence speaks for itself. In the 6 prem games Swansea and Spurs have played after the EL since the international break in September, only 1 victory. There are loads of other factors at play of course, the win, loss or draw following the European game is not determined solely by the existence of not of a european game. For example in 2002/3, as you well know, Sunderland were one of the worst sides ever to play in the premiership. We might well have been affected by the Kiev game, they were just shite.
  16. 5 goals in 25 games for Gouffran? How many assists? How many goals did Ba get playing out wide for us? 10 goals in 180 games for Jonas? How many assists? Prefer Gouffran as a player and he seems to be more effective.
  17. I think the film is more likely to be exploring global warming and the future of the species than feminism. Cuaron uses feminine infertility in Children of Men as a symbol of the future (a bleak version). In Gravity, it was (for me) clearly about earth (a mother), our ability to survive off earth (in what circumstances would that be needed?) and what would be of paramount importance in that circumstance (i.e. getting a woman back onto a habitable planet). If the planet is becoming too hot to live on safely, then the next step in our evolution is to leave it. The men are very vain, that could just be simply pointing the finger of blame.
  18. That's the champions league. I think the extra day or 2 makes the difference. If there was a week between European games and prem games this wouldn't be a discussion. It's not 'Europe', it's traveling back on Friday and playing Sunday. Since September Swansea have not won and Spurs have lost twice. Spurs won after a piss easy home game against Tromso and that was the Cardiff game they made hard work of.
  19. I don't think the results in August count, or e.g. the result after the second leg of the qualifier where Swansea were already 5-1 up (they lost the second leg but won the following prem game). It counts more once the season gets going and since September, Swansea haven't won a premier league game after a Europe game.
  20. The season we finished 5th, we consistently beat the sides in the bottom half of the table and was the reason why we did well. We came 5th because we backed up the games we should have won with one or two decent results against the top sides. Last season we couldn't beat anyone but claiming that Pardew is a small club manager and can only beat the top sides because of it is talking shit.
