  1. Also Pardew's point was that it disrupts training no matter who plays on the Thursday before.
  2. He didn't say they were tired did he? I thought it was AVB who inferred that? Pardew's point that there is not enough rest has been re-iterated by Mourinho and is being played out perfectly by Spurs and Swansea. Doesn't matte what AVB said, Laudrup said the same as AVB when questioned on it last season despite the fact Getafe's form was atrocious after the EL when he managed them and Swansea are now suffering too. Pardew has every right to say it given the stark evidence.
  3. You've made that last sentence up on the basis of a few results. A season ago we wouldn't beat anyone decent under Pardew, now that's all he is good at? Stop talking shit.
  4. We can't play the same way as the last 2 games as Norwich won't have as much possession. We can lose to Hull and Sunderland as we are expected to be on the front foot, retain the ball and pass it around. It appears Pardew is more effective setting us up to defend when playing on the break. Anyway, the set-up, personnel and shape all have to change because getting 11 players behind the ball and stifling Norwich is not an option at home. Ben Arfa will come back for this one.
  5. Good shape, high intensity and Tim Krul. Thought the centre backs both had a good games too. Nothing summed the game up better than Mbwia's goal line clearance.
  6. I find that view naive. Spurs would have had better chances with less cover down their right, probably wouldn't have hung on with less shape and less consistently tracking their runners. It was also shape and intensity that kept them at bay, not just Krul.
  7. If we'd been losing in the second half, I think we'd have seen him. No real reason to bring him on when ahead.
  8. Yeah the bits with Clooney going on about himself being handsome were a but jarring, didnt fit. I thought the casting was spot on in the context of the overall theme. Bullock is the perfect mother in terms of looks; good looking, attractive but not too sexy. Clooney is now at the age to be seen more as a dad than a sex symbol. The evolution theme is obvious (emerging from the water at the end was a bit crass too) as thats what 'gravity' has done, it has evolved the species physically. Without the specific gravitational force on earth, humans would not have evolved or dominated at least. That evolution has allowed us to step off the planet which may in the future be a necessity due to global warming. Bullocks dead child and the umbilical cords attaching them to safety was all very mother earth. In short, thought there was plenty of material behind the visual roller coaster and nerve-racking action. Bullock is amazing too as you say.
  9. Be interesting to see if he starts tomorrow. After Hull he persisted with him at Everton, then dropped him for Cardiff. Started him for Liverpool and Sunderland, dropped him for Chelsea. Tricky decision for a match away at Spurs.
  10. Great film and great night out as other half loved it too. Surprised you found it intellectually weak, I thought the metaphors were superbly crafted, mothers, dead children, umbilical cords, earth. What was weak about all that?
  11. I think they have well and truly established their credentials, its a big test as you say but anyone still dismissing Arsenal's chances of the title are being harsh.
  12. 7 million quid on that apparently. Its Lilly Allen singing but i would have thought she'd be cheap nowadays.
  13. The crack-smoking murderous Mayor of Toronto is a breath of fresh air. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WW8QiTU9sJQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CUBx5umMw0
  14. The brother of a wife of a friend does most of Alfonso Cuaron's editing. I was a massive fan of Children of Men which was the last thing he directed and wrote.
  15. Tim Krul singing Hand in Glove whilst letting one in under his body. Launching into What She Said in one of Wendy Taylor's press conferences. etc etc.
  16. The Pardew who just beat Mourinho? When Ben Arfa was poor for Lyon or Marseille, he was fucking awful. Anonymous. Just because you started a new Ben Arfa thread after mine got to 100 pages doesnt make you the font of all knowledge on him. He has played better and more consistently for Newcastle than at other clubs but two things get in the way of this; his injuries and his fall outs with previous managers. His actual consistency here is no worse than before and arguably better. Pardew doesnt get credit for that because a lot of people are know-alls and think, 'yeah i read the guardian, have got facial hair like Klopp's, listent to podcasts and have got an A-level in Home Economics, this boy is a maverick genius and the only thing holding him back is our ex-Palace clogger manager who doesnt have my/our/intellectual capabilities'. NO is full of cunts like that btw.
  17. Babysitter booked, pregnant wife on board with the plan, off tonight! Havent been to the cinema in ages!
  18. You heard the new Nicolas Jarr album? Very good, been playing it loads. That Drake album is good too, not grabbed it all but the tracks I got are excellent. For the electronic heads, Daniel Avery's Drone Logic is one of the albums of the year. The new Booka Shade is pure hedonism, Perfect Time and Love Inc. are stand outs. I like a bit if footwork as you know and Machinedrum's Vapor city is another quality release. DJ Rashad's Double Cup is getting big press and is worth a listen, Pass that Shit and Show u how are definitely worth it. Not ashamed to say I've got into Lorde's album despite the fact she's a 16 year old kiwi. CHVRCHES is good if you like that thing, the sound can grate a bit after a while but The Mother we Share is poptastic. For the mellower moments of the day, I've played the Bill Callahan album a lot. Ride My Arrow is stunning. Just got Mutual Benefit - Love's Crushing Diamond which is shaping up nicely and decided to try out Newcastle's very own Lanterns on the Lake new album which got a best new music on DiS. Not got into either yet but promising.
  19. I'm still furious we didnt match the ambition of Cardiff and Norwich this summer and am livid about not even bidding for Bony.
  20. We're talking about the Septics really but you could say i'm contrasting that with the political associative networking of characteristic of southern Europe.
  21. Incorrect. The role of 'network' is everything, if you are 'in' the network, then you can expect 100% loyalty and full disclosure / transparency. If you're not 'in' then they tend to spit at you, blow smoke in your face and laugh at your cuisine.
  22. That you'd know all about after several indiscretions in your youth.
