Rob works in the oil industry. He has a geology / engineering background. Imo. He better be on the wind up about teachers though. In fact, as i know he subscribes, he probably hasnt got round to this week's Economist article on the state of Britain and globalisation. Their main conclusion regarding the decline of the manufacturing sector and the present high tech / R&D strategy followed by New Labour, is that Britain's ability to maintain its position in the global market is dependent on its education system. Maybe thats why he has a bee in his bonnet about it, as they are critical. However, the main point is that they are probably the most important sector for the future prosperity of Britain.

Get Armando Ianucci to produce Soccer AM, then it would be good.

Whatever your opinion, Noble is funnier than the wannabes in this thread.

Classic neutral business speak tbh. Read it carefully it doesnt commit to no involvement. In fact it actually could be seen as saying that all plans need to be signed off by the board. Support can mean so many things. My initial reaction took it as 'support you to get them right'. All of these statements have had 5 rounds in the PR department before anyone outside of the core of the business has had a sniff.

Ahh. No Rooney.

Both or just Lampard's? I've read Gazza's book like, which I thought was a decent read, but generally these "World Cup Diary" things just look like they'll be cack. Henry Winter ghost-wrote Gerrards so it might pass as readable.

Unless he plays a blinder of course. That's easy fixed, bring him on with half an hour to go Bowyer was actually who I had in mind as being a past example. Aye, i think he'll start with Carrick, Lampard & Gerrard in a 4 3 3. Hopefully they'll be shit (again) and Barton will come on and score.
-
England or Toontastic? The latter applies to both (and i include myself in that too).

Famous 'sense of togetherness' = 'clique' = 'ineffectual bunch of wankstains'.

Definitely. These dickheads need stuff like this pointing out to them by someone. None of their arselicky crew of agents and hangers-on are gonna do it, so it may as well be Barton. I can imagine Lampard making some derogatory comment about Barton's family. I would then pay £00's to see Barton knock Lampard out. I've decided to hate Frank Lampard

Heard that on saturday at fulham...
-
Anyone else think Barton is spot on taking the piss? I reckon he should continue saying it, he was bang on about the whole thing and Lampard sounds like a right immature tit end. 'Notoriously sensitive' (Henry Winter) = 'childish arsehole'

I dont get it.

Heres to another Newcastle No 10 returning in the same manner. It will probably be in an england shirt too though

dropping nobby and the young lads in defence

Or play it long on target. As soon as he came on we looked to get Martins free. He overhit 2 passes then he latched onto the 3rd for the goal. Can not for the life of me understand why he didnt start Taylor at left back and Solano on the right. -
Duff was utter fucking shite on saturday, he looked woeful everytime he got the ball. The left side was a total shambles.

Spurs shakey start? I thought we went 2-0 up within 15? We havent been that convincing consistently either within games or between games. Our football has been noted in the press as attractive and attacking on more than one occassion, especially in the run up to christmas.

Ditto Allardyce. It was a joke, in reference to Roeder's comments recently. I think both have the bottle, or big enough characters for the NUFC job, without a doubt. Why neither took the job.... my guess because of the board. Regarding MON, he's a decent manager but not as good as the hype would have you believe and I don't think he would have done a much better job than Roeder has done in the circumstances, although long-term I think he would prove a better NUFC manager, but whether he could take NUFC to the next level which is what everyone was looking for from the new man in the summer, we'll never know. I doubt he'll take Villa into the top 4 and regular CL footy either. According to Leazes he meant Shearer not MoN According to me, Leazes said nothing.

If Bill Shankly himself had come in when Roeder did, I reckon we'd be about 7th. Can I clarify this? Are you seriously drawing a comparison with Roeder and one of the greats of British football management? No. I'm saying even one of the greats of British football management couldn't have broken our squad (with all it's troubles) into the top 5 at this point of the season. Given that Roeder is an average manager at best, his performance has been excellent. I don't agree. If you gave a good manager (hypothetical or not) in excess of 15 million quid to spend as he pleased in the summer with the squad Roeder inherited, I would expect them to do a better job than Roeder. That means gaining points against Sheffield United at home, for instance, or not getting humped at home by Birmingham in the cup. And again, please enlighten me on which performances have been excellent, because I can't think of a single game where we were convincing. Portsmouth at home. Spurs at home apart from 20 mins in first half. West Ham away. Portsmouth was good, but not spectacular. Honestly can't remember Spurs at home that well (demon drink). West Ham were/are struggling. I could list a lot of seriously bad games to counter these but I haven't got time. I was convinced in all 3. You asked for one game. Spurs was excellent in parts.

It may have been the charity shield in 96 am thinking of.

Its uncanny how it became the buzz word of the forums and now is in every single club statement.

He would say that if we blew him out though (not saying we did). [/Caveat-tastic] I dont think he likes the club. He turned against us during his time at Man U. Does anyone remember Cole sitting on the bench in the 99 final, TV camera switched to him just as a peanut was flying through the air and hitting him on the head? Or did i make that up in my head?
