  1. Good point Davey...when you bring in only 5 million or so and have a 15 million pound player to replace, it doesn't look quite such a bit of good business iyam. Without his goals we wouldnt be in Europe this season, so we'll see how much our Europa run brings in.
  2. Random human skulls have been found at the bottom of ditches on a lot of the ramparts around Iron Age hillforts (they litter almost every peak in the Cheviots) that have been excavated...these were placed on the stockades to ward off evil spirits by the local tribesmen. These are known as "Ghost Fences" Lanterns are just watered down ghost fences...that makes me happy too
  3. I think thats spot on...all the major religious festivals have been established to cover earlier pagan rites....ever wondered why bonfire night is close to Hallowean?...large parts of the population still lit fiires in the 17th century to mark the end of the old Celtic year, often two side by side which cattle were then driven between before they were ritually slaughtered for food during the winter months...the Puritans co opted the fire thing so they could perpetuate the persecution of Roman Catholics in England...which, to prove old traditions really do die hard in these islands, went on until quite recently...
  4. Got to have an AC/DC track I reckon...Thunderstruck is ok, but Back in Black is one of the first tracks Brian Johnson recorded with them and hasnt been bettered...
  5. More frightful paganess!!! The date is close to the vernal equinox, as Christmas is to the winter solstice; because of this the Annunciation and Christmas were two of the four "Quarter days" in medieval and early modern England, which marked the divisions of the fiscal year (the other two were Midsummer Day, or the Nativity of St. John the Baptist—June 24—and Michaelmas, the feast day of St. Michael, on September 29).
  6. Mayday is Beltane...a pagan celebration of ewes starting to give milk..as far as I know its had no bearing on on any calender...this has though, its all to do with when Easter is celebrated.. http://en.wikipedia....Synod_of_Whitby Wasn't the world run by these bad boys for a long time?... http://en.wikipedia....Julian_calendar http://en.wikipedia....gorian_calendar
  7. Lindisfarne "Run for Home" The Jam "Start"
  8. Is Dembagoals one of his errr "advisors"?
  9. Thats twice you've been right this morning well done
  10. Fuck all in it. Both have been at fault regularly this season iyam.
  11. Somebody said last night you see a different game on the tv, theyre right. Do you, with all your experiance of seeing him, think he's playing as consistantly well as Enrique did?..thats my point.. Its not easy for him this season, its not fuckin easy for any of them. But last season I thought he was suspect and nothing thats happened this season has made me change my mind. Maybe right wing is the best place for him because, for me, he's not much of a defender. oh and again, did he play left back regularly in italy?...just to clarify like...
  12. You started "I know best" roulette and now it may appear that you now don't and its suddenly become a bit of a bind for you? Perhaps you'd like to explain how playing right wing in Italy is relevent to this season? he played left back for Inter, am I right or wrong? am perfectly willing to admit it if I am indeed incorrect. I dont set myself up as an expert, its just an opinion. He's not as good as the player he replaced if you ask me. Thats it.
  13. You cant fuckin read now son! which part of and may return to the striker market in the summer. means that we're going to sign the two strikers required this window? thats what Gloom is getting at and he's right.
  14. I didnt say fuck all about him when he arrived because I didnt have a clue who he was but am willing to bet I've now seen him play a lot more than you have. He's never looked a better player to me than Enrique. Thats how I'm judging him, the player he replaced. And he's had time to learn the game in this country now, same as Enrique. He played left back in Italy and am I right in saying actually for Italy? so its safe to say he's a left back. Theres loads of right footed left backs, Lamm being the best examaple, Stuart Pearce as well. If he's trying to make a career out of it perhaps you're right, its better he moves across, because at the moment he's nowhere near good enough to pull off what must be a very difficult task, but as I've tried to show here, he's a left back. True, he's not the only one who's playing poorly. But If you're not as good as the player you replaced you may well be one of the reasons why the whole team is going backwards.
  15. See, you give with one hand and take with another We need 2 "purple" (for want of a better phrase) strikers, a young lad and a "Lovenkrands" type iyam. Just to be sure. But "just to be sure" isnt Ashley's style....his style is "aah fuck it maaate we'll get by wiv Shola...."
  16. Whats CT said wrong now? For me Santon looks a good footballer but a poor defender...on the evidence provided so far he's nowhere near as good a defender as the Enrique that left us was, and its debateable if he's as good going forward. He does play better when Ben Arfa is in front of him though tbf.
  17. Why are Swansea letting him go?....perhaps because he's like the Leon Best its ok to like as he's a Geordie?....27, bit old too...it's a no from me, and Mike probably...
  18. Is it fair to say the side he was captain of in 2009 was on paper the most talented squad ever to be relegated since Sky invented football in 1992?...What a coloassall fuckin strap on that man is.
  19. Newcastle: Krul; Perch, Williamson, Coloccini ©, Santon; Tiote, Anita; Cisse, Marveaux, Obertan; Shola Ameobi. Subs: Elliot, Ferguson, Tavernier, Abeid, Bigirimana, Sammy Ameobi, Ranger. Everton: Howard, Baines, Heitinga, Distin, Jagielka, Pienaar, Osman, Neville, Fellaini, Naismith, Jelavic. Subs: Mucha, Oviedo, Hitzlsperger, Anichebe, Gueye, Vellios, Duffy.
  20. Has he failed a medical by any chance?....or have his henchmen asked for an extra "sweetner" to help the deal across the line?
  21. over to you CT.... we do need two strikers this window, but theres more chance of Lord Lucan riding Shergar to the moon and back than Ashley getting us what we need. But at least we'll be "wiping our own mouth"
