I've gained a TON of football knowledge and history and quite a bit of funny little differences (and similarities) between here and there. My workload has ramped up a ton here the past couple of months so I haven't been posting as much lately, but the other four or five boards I used to post to on the regular I rarely even visit anymore. I love this board.

That's hilarious! (And I might add that over here in our non-socialized, rah, rah, only the best you can afford capitalist healthcare system, we've still only got the old school sonograms- my wife just had one Tuesday)

I could be wrong, but I really don't think there's some grand conspiracy on Ashley's part to destroy NUFC. I think the SD.com thing is soley because of the Olympics. He stuck it up there now so it doesn't appear as obviouls as putting it up a week before the Olympics. At the end of the day, he's a businessman. He's lost money on his investment, but is trying to minimize the loss in this selling/ not selling crap. If NUST showed up with the cash, he'd sell. I'm just speaking personally here, but the main reason I never sent over my dough was NUST never really said what they were going to do with it. I would've gladly sent it, but without knowing what the money was for, I just never got around to it (and it took awhile to get the paypal deal up and going). All that being said, has NUST considered taking smaller donations to assist in the takeover (but not get a share, obviously)? I don't know exactly what £2500 is in American, but I'm sure I can't afford it. However, I could drop a hundy or two on somebody without risking the ire of wor lass. Hell, if I got some T-Shirt commemorating the day we kick TFC Ashley out, I'd be down for it.

That's Mr. Garrison from South Park the movie.

I had hockey practice or something the night it was on when originally aired. I didn't get to see it until I bought the VHS box set in '96 (which was maddening because I had rented Fire Walk With Me in like 1994 and was just floored by it). Second series was great too. I can see why some folks lost interest after they revealed who had killed Laura though. It'd be kinda like if the people on LOST got off the island and they still had another season afterwards. The die hards would still be interested in what was going down on the island, but a lot of folks would just be, "They're off. Cool." and never watch again.

Any of you lot ever see Twin Peaks? It was this David Lynch (Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, etc.) and Mark Frost (Hill Street Blues)created ABC show that only ran for a season and a half back around 1990. I caught the last four episodes in a marathon on Chiller over the weekend. Haven't watched the whole series in about 10 years, but fuck me it's still great. I'm not totally familar with it, but I know it was on Hulu.com for a while, and I'm sure it's still floating around the torrents. Wikipedia describes it as Twin Peaks is an American television serial drama created by David Lynch and Mark Frost. The series follows the investigation, headed by Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), of the brutal murder of a popular teenager and homecoming queen, Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee). Whole lot more to it than that, but that's the main plotline. It's a drama/ cop show more or less, but there are some sci-fi, horror, and comedy elements to it as well.

This type of hype-inducing media we have to live with over here should be against the law. Driving home last night, my friend in Ohio called me and said all the call-in radio talk shows were filled to the brim with remarks about towelheads and terrorists. I mean, is it any wonder why we're the most globally ignorant first-world country in the world? Christ, look at what we're reading!

The end of the the military industrial complex as we know it?

Love it. Absolutely love it. -
Not sure if the shipping would push this into "not worth it" territory, but I buy components from these guys for work and home both. Good prices, good products, but obviously, YMMV. http://tigerdirect.com

The pharmacist told me to take the drops for 3/4 days and then go to the doc. I don't think there is a panic on....It's only the left eye anyway. Shoot with your right, then? Me too.

Expensive? Up to $130 an ounce? I can see why they need a correspondent.

Being someone who wears contacts, I've had to put up with ulcerated corneas and conjunctivitis off and on for years. Get your shit checked out. They're your eyes dude. They're sorta important. And if you have contacts, don't wear them while you're having these types of problems. Makes it way worse. Found out the hard way, myself.

Glad it wasn't just me. One of my favorite albums of 1995. Did you hear the remix album version? Fucking brilliant.

The title of this thread has caused me to have "More Human than Human" stuck in my head for at least the past 15 minutes.

I largely follow this theory as well. I figure I'll not take pain killers so that when I'm old and the pain killers are really needed I'll actually get the benefit. I do have a cut off point though. If I still feel like death at 6pm the following day I will take a plink plink fizz.. Or go to the pub or both!! Fuck that- drugs make you feel good. Why wait until you're old to feel good? I've always had the best luck curing hangovers with Gatorade. Most of the time, your hangover is just you being massively dehydrated. If you re-hydrate, you feel better. Gatorade re-hydrates. Simple.

Motherboard form factor, mostly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of...er_form_factors Manufacturers agree to make stuff the same size so you don't get stuck having to buy a new case and everything if your motherboard dies. Obviously all-in-one type OEMs who don't mean for their PCs to be extensively modified or repaired (Dell, HP, etc.) don't necessarily play by these rules, but most folks have to in order to be competitive in the marketplace.

FWIW, over here, computers usually get noticeably cheaper about two weeks after Christmas. If you're going to wait a couple months anyway, wait a couple more weeks on top of that.

I swear to God, I know this is going to make me sound crazy, but every time I see Rumsfeld or Cheney on TV, they look like demons to me. I can literally see the evil seeping out of them. -
Henry Hill hawking paintings on Stern is always priceless. As to why he was never killed, what would be the point? It's sorta like Denis Leary's take on why Ted Kennedy wasn't assassinated whilst his brothers were- "Leave him alone, he'll fuck it up himself."

Tate Modern removes naked Brooke Shields picture after police visit
Cid_MCDP replied to Park Life's topic in General Chat
Wait, what? So it's legal to take pictures of naked kids as long as the parents consent? That makes no fucking sense whatsoever- and I don't mean from a moral viewpoint or whatever. I'm sure I've read articles in the news where parents (step-parents probably) have been arrested and charged for taking inappropriate or pornographic pictures of their kids here in the States. That sounds like absolute bullshit to me. Not saying it isn't true or accurate, mind...
